ม.ล. พันธุ์เทวนพ เทวกุลมีความเชื่อว่าหากนักแสดงที่มีจิตอิสระ รู้จักวางอัตตา มีสมาธิตั้งมั่นเป็นหนึ่งเดียว ทั้งกายและใจก็จะเป็นตัวละครได้โดยง่าย จึงออกแบบแบบฝึกหัดอันฝึกฝนให้กายและจิตของนักแสดงทำงาน ผสานกันด้วยแนวทางของการเจริญสติ/สมาธิของศาสนาพุทธ ผู้วิจัยทดลองนำหลักการแสดงนี้มาใช้ในการแสดง เดี่ยวเรื่อง เดอะ ไซริงกา ทรี โดยมีสมมติฐานว่าเมื่อนักแสดงใช้หลักการแสดงของม.ล. พันธุ์เทวนพ เทวกุลนี้แล้ว จะสามารถเข้าถึงบทบาทและสามารถสื่อสารสารหลักของเรื่องได้ดีขึ้น ผู้วิจัยทดลองใช้หลักการแสดงฯ 3 ลักษณะ ได้แก่ 1) ค้นหาสภาวะภายในของตัวละคร 2) เตรียมพร้อมนักแสดงก่อนการแสดง 3) พัฒนาทักษะโดยรวม ด้วยงานวิจัยฉบับนี้เป็นงานวิจัยแบบปฏิบัติการ ผู้วิจัยจึงเลือกวิธีการเก็บข้อมูลหลากหลายรูปแบบที่นอกเหนือ หนังสือและตำรา อันได้แก่ บันทึกการทำงานของผู้วิจัย, บันทึกคำสอน, การสังเกตการณ์, การสัมภาษณ์, แบบสอบถามผู้ชม และวีดิโอบันทึกการแสดงจริง ผลการศึกษาพบว่าการฝึกปฏิบัติด้วยแนวทางดังกล่าวอย่าง ต่อเนื่องช่วยเสริมความรู้สึก ไว้วางใจในศักยภาพของตนเอง ทำให้นักแสดงรู้สึกอิสระที่จะเป็น ทำ หรือรู้สึกโดยไม่ กลัวการถูกตัดสิน ทั้งจากผู้อื่นและตนเอง เมื่อนักแสดงค้นพบอิสรภาพบนเวทีแล้วการเข้าถึงบทบาทและสื่อสาร สารหลักของเรื่องก็เกิดขึ้นได้โดยง่าย

วิทยานิพนธ์ฉบับนี้มุ่งศึกษาเหตุผลของรัฐไทยในการเข้าร่วมสงครามเกาหลี (ค.ศ. 1950-1953) โดยพบว่าการสร้างวาทกรรมชาตินิยมของรัฐไทยหลังสิ้นสุดสงครามโลกครั้งที่ 2 ได้นำปัจจัยบรรยากาศทางการเมืองสมัยใหม่มาเป็นประเด็นหลักสำคัญ เน้นย้ำไปยังความมั่นคงของประเทศที่กำลังถูกลัทธิคอมมิวนิสต์รุกรานโดยเชื่อมโยงเข้ากับสถานการณ์โลกการเมืองสมัยใหม่ที่เกิดการปะทะกันระหว่างลัทธิคอมมิวนิสต์และเสรีประชาธิปไตย ซึ่งส่งผลกระทบโดยตรงต่อสถานการณ์ทางการเมืองของประเทศในภูมิภาคเอเชียตะวันออก จนกระทั่งคาบสมุทรเกาหลีกลายเป็นพื้นที่การปะทะกันของอุดมการณ์ทางการเมืองจากทั้งสองฝ่าย เมื่อเกิดสงครามเกาหลีขึ้น ไทยเป็นประเทศแรกในภูมิภาคเอเชียตะวันออกเฉียงใต้ที่ประกาศเข้าร่วมสงคราม ซึ่งถือเป็นการแสดงท่าทีทางการเมืองอย่างชัดเจนว่า รัฐไทยนั้นสนับสนุนนโยบายต่อต้านคอมมิวนิสต์และสนับสนุนอเมริกา อีกทั้งได้รัฐไทยนำเอาแนวคิดชาติ ศาสน์ กษัตริย์ ขึ้นมาเป็นวาทกรรมหลักเพื่อสนับสนุนนโยบายของรัฐไทยในการเข้าร่วมสงครามเกาหลี ดังนั้นนโยบายการสร้างชาติและต่อต้านคอมมิวนิสต์ของรัฐไทยได้รับอิทธิพลจากบริบททางการเมืองระหว่างประเทศโดยเฉพาะอย่างยิ่งการคุกคามจากคอมมิวนิสต์จีนและถูกกำหนดโดยเหตุการณ์ในสถานการณ์ทางการเมืองโลกในช่วงสงครามเกาหลี

Silent Cities: Sensationalism And Removed Populations Within Fourteenth Century Western Christian And Muslim Travel Accounts Of Baghdad And Jerusalem, Abby Gibbons

This research explores the removal of surrounding populations within fourteenth century travel literature in the cities of Baghdad and Jerusalem, I analyze two Christian travelers, Marco Polo and John Mandeville, and one Muslim traveler, Ibn Battuta. As a basis of comparison, I discuss the twelfth century Muslim traveler, Ibn Jubayr. I specifically analyze Baghdad and Jerusalem due to the fact that they represent cities of centrality for Muslims and Christians, respectively, within medieval geographic understanding. This work analyzes how the Women's International League for Peace and Freedom (WILPF) sought to influence how the League of Nations approached questions of nationality and statelessness between 1918 and 1931. Especially important were the WILPF's efforts to aid women and children who remained in Turkey following the Armenian genocide, as well as the organization's efforts to address the statelessness crisis that arose following the dissolution of Austria-Hungary. Their activism helped to pressure the League of Nations into creating the Commission of Enquiry on Deported Women and Children in Turkey and Asia Minor. Running parallel to the groundbreaking and historic advancement of LGBTQ rights over the past decade has been the rise in the prominence and public discourse of queer conservative thinking. From the Log Cabin Republicans to far-right nationalistic politics, queer conservatives underscore both diverging ideologies within the modern American conservative tradition and the increase of far-right politics in Western societies. This study argues that queer conservatism, while traditionally less explored in the broader context of sexuality politics, is consequential to an understanding of the LGBTQ community and queer politics. In this collection of poems, I tell the story of Agnes Sampson's 1591 trial for witchcraft, her torture and death, and her response to these events from the afterlife. Using persona perspectives and utilizing a variety of poetic forms, I reveal the voices, thoughts, and feelings of Agnes and others involved in the trials in hopes to give a full and well-rounded account of the events in a compelling and creative way. John Hankins was born in 1905. He earned his B.A. in 1924 from the University of South Carolina, his M.A. in 1925 and his Ph.D. from Yale in 1929. He came to the University of Maine in 1956 as Head of the English Department. Hankins retired in 1970. He was Professor Emeritus in 1970.

Collection includes biographical information from the faculty index,correspondence, dramatic pieces, poems, and short stories (including some written by Hankin), articles, and speeches, newspaper clippings on a range of subjects, conference material, and various items regarding events Hankin attended celebrating William Shakespeare's birth.

Arthur E. Silver was born in 1879 at Silvers Mills, a rural neighborhood named for his grandfather in Dexter, Maine. He graduated from the University of Maine, class of 1902, with a B.S. degree. He received his doctor of engineering (an honorary degree) from the University of Maine in 1954. He was chief electrical engineer for Ebasco Services, Inc., formerly Electric Bond and Share Co. until his retirement in 1948.

In 1951, Silver received the Lamme gold medal award given by the American Institute of Engineering in recognition of his pioneering of rural electrification by designing a simplified farm-type transformer …

Professor Katherine Ogilvie Musgrave was born February 8, 1920, in Allisona, TN. Having graduated with a B.S. in Food Nutrition from Maryville College in 1941 Musgrave would go on to earn a M.S. in Nutrition from Oklahoma State University in 1968. The following year (1969) Professor Musgrave started at the University of Maine as an instructor and assistant professor in Food and Nutrition before in 1979 earning a professorship. Professor Musgrave retired from the University of Maine in 1986 but remained active in the field of nutrition.

Payson notes the weather, church activities such as marriages and funerals, and daily activities.

James Stacy Stevens, the son of Henry Francis Stevens and Emeline Heydock Stevens, was born in Lima, New York, on August 21, 1864. Stevens married Bertha E. Bowerman in 1890. He came to the University of Maine as a professor of physics in 1891, established the department of electrical engineering in 1893, and served as dean of the College of Arts and Sciences from 1905 until his retirement in 1932. Stevens Hall on the campus of the University of Maine was named in his honor in 1934. Stevens died on March 24, 1940.

Jasper Hutchings was a lawyer from Brewer, ME. He was born in the Penobscot County area in 1835. Hutchings attended Williams College and began practicing law in Aroostook County, Maine around 1861. He appears to have worked for the Lincoln Pulp and Paper Company from the years 1869 though around 1900.

Dr. Hilda M. Fife was born in Greenland, N.H., in 1903. She received her B.A. degree from Colby College and M.A. and Ph.D. degrees from Cornell University. She also did graduate work at Boston University and the University of Chicago. She became professor of English at the University of Maine from 1946 until retiring as professor emerita in 1969. She founded the Maine Old Cemetery Association and was active in the Kittery Maritime Museum, the Rice Public Library in Kittery, and the Maine League of Historical Societies and Museums. She died in 1990.
