A Statistical Analysis Of The Relations Between Interpersonal Perception And Adjustment In Leaders, Stephen Alan Mourer

Student Work

The study of leadership and its relationship to other psychological dimensions has been and continues to be a lively research topic in the field of psychology. The study of leadership raises many important questions that, ultimately, can only be properly answered by controlled experimentation. Who will become a leader? Under what circumstances will he lead? What are the psychological dimensions most commonly related to leadership? What is leadership? Can we train leaders? These questions and many others serve as a continuous challenge to researchers In psychology as well as related disciplines. The Importance of leadership to day was

Studies Of Surface Films Formed By Adsorption Of Polar Organic Molecules On Activated Metal Surfaces, Roy Leo Bennett Dec 1959

Studies Of Surface Films Formed By Adsorption Of Polar Organic Molecules On Activated Metal Surfaces, Roy Leo Bennett

Doctoral Dissertations

The investigation of adsorption has been a valuable aid in under standing the properties of metal surfaces. The surface of a metal differs from the interior of the material due to unsatisfied valence forces which impart an affinity for adsorbed materials. This high surface energy is illustrated by the fact that when two clean metal surfaces are placed in contact, that is, when there is no intervening adsorbed film, cold welding results. The resulting bond is equivalent to the bonding in the rest of the metal. This has been demonstrated by Bowden and Young,l who showed that mere contact of …

Role Playing As A Means Of Selecting Administrators, Charles Warren Hartsell Dec 1959

Role Playing As A Means Of Selecting Administrators, Charles Warren Hartsell

Doctoral Dissertations

Introduction: In view of the constant search for competent administrators on all levels of school administration, there is a need for defining the personal and operational characteristics which will indicate to an employer how a person will react in a given set of circumstances, particularly those which are related to the specific position involved. For example, how would a principal go about dealing with a parent whose child has been suspended from school for disciplinary reasons? How can we know, beforehand, whether an individual will be a good or a poor administrator? Industry has developed time and motion studies for …

Groups And Algebraicity In Complete Rank Rings, Robert James Smith Dec 1959

Groups And Algebraicity In Complete Rank Rings, Robert James Smith

Doctoral Dissertations

Introduction: It is well known that many of the results in classical linear algebra have an unequivocal extension to the more general situation when the scalars are drawn from an arbitrary division ring K. There are, however, three distinct theories of determinants for matrices over a division ring. One of these, originated by Study, "apples only to very particular non-communicative fields and to matrices of special type" (Dieudonne) and will not concern us here. The remaining two, one due to Ore and the other due to Dieudonne, reflect together, if not separately, the basic properties of the classical determinant. The …

St. Mawr: A Critical Study, David Cavitch Nov 1959

St. Mawr: A Critical Study, David Cavitch

English Language and Literature ETDs

Style appears elusively in the flashing shape of a conception. Ideally, the way a thing is thought of becomes the style in which it is expressed. Style is not the man; it is his thought. Lawrence's style is astonishing because he conceived of things in an astonishing way: in St. Mawr the sophisticated prose techniques are the mode of Lawrence's perception, the means of his discoveries.
