A Paradigm For Cell Church Ministry In The Seventh-Day Adventist Church In South Korea, 2010 Andrews University
A Paradigm For Cell Church Ministry In The Seventh-Day Adventist Church In South Korea, Won Moo Song
Professional Dissertations DMin
Problem
Small group ministry, known as the cell church, was thought to be the best response to the slow growth of membership in the Seventh-day Adventist (SDA) Church in South Korea. However, the attempt to develop effective cell church ministries has failed to attract new, or even current, members. Yet, there are three non-SDA churches that have had success in setting up model cell churches. The purpose of this study is to explore possible reasons for the failure, examine the successful programs, and identify those steps the Korean Adventist church could adopt in order to establish a positive paradigm for …

Development And Empowerment Of Women For Ministry In The Seventh-Day Adventist Church In Francistown, Botswana, Leabaneng Providence Simankane
Professional Dissertations DMin
Problem. The proclamation of the Gospel message in the community of Francistown, located on the northeastern part of Botswana, requires church members (both men and women) who are dedicated and trained for evangelism. However, women are not given opportunity to participate fully in the Gospel ministry. The leadership of the church continues to rest upon men leaving out the God-given potentials of women.
Method. This study used the qualitative descriptive research method and intended to find out the extent to which members are favorable to the development and empowerment of women for ministry in Francistown churches in Botswana. The questionnaire …

The Gospel According To Moses And Elijah, Roy E. Gane
Andrews University Seminary Studies (AUSS)
Jesus’ gospel culminates the deliverance messages of Moses and Elijah and points to our role: If we love Christ a lot because he has forgiven us a lot (Luke 7:40-47), we will find no greater joy than reconciling precious people to one another and to him before the great day of his return.
Long Distance Managerial Intervention In Overseas Conflicts: Helping Missionaries Reframe Conflict Along Multiple Dimensions, 2010 Claremont Graduate University
Long Distance Managerial Intervention In Overseas Conflicts: Helping Missionaries Reframe Conflict Along Multiple Dimensions, David R. Dunaetz
CGU Faculty Publications and Research
Effective ways of conflict management must be found for missionaries when no trusted mediator in the region is available. Home office management or leaders in other regions can intervene through context rich media, such as the telephone and video conferencing, to provide help. Intervention through context poor media, such as email, is much less likely to succeed. Effective managerial intervention involving interaction with each party can lead to reframing the conflict into an opportunity to cooperate and find mutually beneficial solutions. The manager can present information, ask questions, and help the parties see that resolution is possible by addressing key …

Christian Cooperation And Ministry Effectiveness: Insights And Applications From Empirical Research In Group Processes, David R. Dunaetz
CGU Faculty Publications and Research
“Co-operation and the Promotion of Unity” was one the major themes addressed at Edinburgh 1910. The goal was increased cooperation among Christian organizations that would lead to greater ministry effectiveness. Five group processes are presented in light of empirical studies demonstrating their ability to increase group performance: 1) Trust (reciprocal beliefs that the one party will promote the well being of another; 2) Constructive conflict (objective consideration and evaluation of various ways of accomplishing a common goal); 3) Decision commitment (beliefs held by all parties concerning the importance of following through on group decisions); 4) Accountability (the expectation that a …

Equipping Short-Term Missionaries For Effective Service And Smooth Re-Entry, Haley Michelle Barron
Honors Theses
A couple hundred years ago missionaries would go to the mission field without any cultural or language training. They often arrived in one country and spent their entire life figuring out the lifestyle, language, and culture. However, times certainly have changed. Long-term missionaries are never sent to the field without training. Short-term missionaries should also be trained, but this does not always happen. On a short-term mission trip, there is not enough time to dive into the culture or to face huge cultural barriers without training. Since short-term missionaries are abroad for a short amount of time, it is necessary …
