An Inductive Study On How Business As Mission Entrepreneurs Decide To Start Businesses, Michael J. Bates 2011 Taylor University

An Inductive Study On How Business As Mission Entrepreneurs Decide To Start Businesses, Michael J. Bates

Business as Mission Theses and Dissertations

Anecdotal evidence suggests that Businesses as Mission (BAM) entrepreneurs seem to have characteristics of both for-profit and social entrepreneurs. For-profit entrepreneurship literature has transitioned from focusing on who the entrepreneur is, to what they do as a function of their cognitive processes. Social entrepreneurship research areas have trended toward the formation of personality and motives of the socially-minded entrepreneur. Regardless of type, each entrepreneur must recognize opportunity, evaluate it, and then decide to take action or not. There were few peer-reviewed articles in the literature with regard to the study of BAM organizations or the entrepreneurs that start them. Since …

The Urban Legacy Of Twentieth Century Missiology, Jeff K. Walters

Great Commission Research Journal

In this “urban century,” it is sometimes easy to forget that urban work is not new to global missions. The purpose of this article is to review the work of four key twentieth century missiologists—Donald A. McGavran, Francis DuBose, Harvie Conn, and Roger Greenway— and consider their impact on the evangelism and missions in urban contexts. The article concludes with a brief analysis of their missiology and its application to twenty-first century missions strategy.

Dance And Contextualization In The South Pacific Islands - Encounters With Adventist Christian Faith, Jennifer Jean Jones

Human Subject Research Archive

This dissertation investigated the attitudes and perceptions of the students and faculty towards dance for religious events at Pacific Adventist University (PAU) in New Guinea. It aimed to help in leading a climate for change within PAU towards a model for contextualizing traditional dance for God's Kingdom ministry. A directed study of the biblical precedents regarding dance served as a foundation to the rationale of engaging in dance for worship. Some sources in Adventist Church theology on dance in relation to their relevance in the South Pacific was discussed. The role of traditional dance and how it influences worship music …

Occurring in the fall of 2010, this project involved nominees in a series of six one-hour, thirty-minute sessions designed to establish the theological foundations for shepherding and to explore its practical expression at Cinco Ranch. For the theological component, this project primarily utilized Ephesians 4:11-16, and for the practical side, it incorporated group interactions with those serving as shepherds along with the review of guiding leadership documents. The project‟s …
