The European Union And Central Asia: Historical Overview, Current Situation And Prospects, Kh. Yunusov
International Relations: Politics, Economics, Law
The EU and CA relationships have more than a quarter century history. The issue of recognition of new states that became independent in Central Asian region came forth before European Community1 in end of XX century. With the "Joint Declaration of Twelve" issued on 31 December 1991, European Community recognized state independence of Central Asian republics . The recognition of the independent statehood of new Central Asian republics developed in the following way: first, new understanding (or approach) with regard to the procedure of recognition of the independence of newly emerged States was worked out. Sogdian Contribution To The Development Of International Diplomacy And Trade. The Great Sogdian Colonization Of The Silk Road, O. Kobzeva
International Relations: Politics, Economics, Law
For many centuries, the territory of Uzbekistan served as a bridge connecting East and West through the Great Silk Road. Thanks to this, our region was known as an important crossroads on this road, where various civilizations and cultures came into contact, and became famous for its invaluable contribution to universal human development. From III millennium BC Lazurite, Jade, Western Meridional, Stepnoy and other routes were components of the Silk Road

Morocco: The Intersection Between Intercultural Mediation And Migration, Arianna Diaz
Independent Study Project (ISP) Collection
My research seeks to understand the intersection between migration and intercultural mediation through a Moroccan context. The increase of undocumented and documented Sub-Saharans flowing into Morocco through the Western Mediterranean route creates an increase in intercultural spaces within Moroccan society. By analyzing Sub-Saharan livelihoods and discrimination in Morocco I address how ineffective intercultural communication creates tensions between Moroccan nationals and Sub-Saharan Migrants. By applying intercultural mediation theory I come to understand how intercultural mediation can be applied between these two cultural groups. I specifically analyze the capacity of Moroccan civil organizations to act as intercultural mediators between Moroccan communities and …

The Role Of Institutions, Islamism, And Militaries In The Outcomes Of The Arab Spring: The Cases Of Tunisia, Egypt, And Syria, Olivia Delmonico
Sacred Heart University Scholar
During the Arab Spring in 2011, much of the Middle Eastern world faced a series of uprisings demanding democracy and equality. Most of these attempts at revolution desperately failed, with some nations faring far worse than before. Some, however, remain more stable than others, with Tunisia being the sole full success. This article delves into the varying causes of the uprisings in Tunisia, Egypt, and Syria. These countries respectively represent the good, the bad, and the ugly outcomes of the Arab Spring.
Through a thorough analysis of other literature on the subject, I conclude that the success of modern Arab …

Mahurin Honors College Capstone Experience/Thesis Projects
My CE/T Project revolves around the pre-production work for a short film that explores the current political climate in the United States of America. The project was a very rewarding experience, as it better prepared me for professional life within the film industry. The reason that I chose the particular topic that I did is that I wanted to create a project that would serve as a positive message to the people of this country as well as other people all around the world. The message that I wanted to convey with this project is that we can get along …

Facilitating Community Participation With Palestine Refugees: An Exploratory Study Of Unrwa, Tiffany Rene Baccus
Capstone Collection
Community participation plays an important role in reversing the traditional power dynamic between service providers and beneficiaries. However, the level of community participation facilitated by organizations in their initiatives often varies greatly. This study sought to understand how and to what extent the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) West Bank Field Office can best facilitate community participation with Palestine refugees through its initiatives. Data collection took place at two levels: the strategic and camp level. The strategic level included interviews with a representative from the Palestinian Liberation Organization’s Department of Refugee Affairs (DORA) as well as nine staff …

Individual Similarities And Regional Differences: The Impact Of 2015 Refugee Crisis On Europeans’ Attitudes Toward Immigration, Liri Kosovare Bllaca
Theses and Dissertations
Whereas the extant literature has found much similarities in determinants and correlates of individual attitudes toward immigration to Europe there is less attention on Europe’s regional-based attitudes. We try to unpack this puzzle by accounting for attitude variations that the 2015 Europe’s refugee crisis brought about in three geopolitical regions of the continent, namely EU member countries from former communist Eastern Europe, EU member countries from Western Europe and non-EU Western countries. We argue that whereas some socioeconomic factors and other attitudinal variables predict the same reaction toward more/less immigration from poor countries outside Europe, trust in institutions and their …

This research note analyzes the demographic change of Puerto Ricans and Hispanics in Florida combined with voter registration rates using the Florida Department of State Voter Registration Reports from July 2018. Despite both populations growing in selected counties, which in turn has increased the voter registration rates for Hispanics in the State, there is no conclusive evidence that voter registration rates among Puerto RIcans experienced a significant rise between 2016 and 2018.

Introduction: This report studies the voter registration rates in face of the upcoming Texas Senatorial elections in November 2018.
