From the beginning of the Russian war in Ukraine the Baltic Orthodox churches subordinated to the Russian Orthodox Church (ROC) have gone through considerable changes in their canonical status, but have also stood out with controversial public statements about the war.

Since there are good reasons to think that some engineered systems are socially undesirable—for example, internal combustion engines that cause climate change, algorithms that are racist, and nuclear weapons that can destroy all life—there is a well-established literature that attempts to identify best practices for designing and regulating engineered systems in order to prevent harm and promote justice. Diving into the complex dynamics of income inequality, this dissertation studies the multifaceted relationships between democracy, economic development, and inequality, placing a spotlight on the mediating influence of Relative Political Capacity (RPC). Uncovering the pivotal role of RPC as democracies advance and economies progress, this research navigates the contours of income inequality. By dissecting distinct sub-samples of OECD and non-OECD countries, nuanced insights surface. Employing robust methodologies such as ordinary least squares regressions and fixed effects analysis, I argue that targeted policies addressing inequality can not only foster inclusive economic growth but also fortify the foundations of democratic institutions. The weaponization of rape in International Relations is often analyzed through the lens of Realism, focusing on cases where rape is systematically used as a tactic of war by enemy combatants or as “spoils of war”. This phenomenon is evidenced by high-profile incidents in World War II Japan (1941), Cambodia (1975), Guatemala (1978), Bosnia (1992), and Rwanda (1994). Jurnal Ekonomi dan Pembangunan Indonesia

This study aims to analyze the effect of political competition on health budgets in Indonesia. The analysis was conducted using a fixed-effects panel data regression approach for Indonesia’s regencies and municipalities between 2009 and 2019. To obtain robust results, this study uses three different measures of political competition, namely the Multiparty Margin Index, the Herfindahl-Hirschman Index (HHI), and the Effective Number of Parties (ENP) Index. The estimation results show that only legislative political competition has a significant and consistent negative effect on the health budget, it is similar to the Leviathan Model theory.

This article analyzes the mutual relationship of dependency between civil society and narco cartels in Tierra Caliente, focusing on civilian experiences in Michoacan, Guerrero and el Estado de México. This paper will examine the functions of La Familia Michoacana, Los Caballeros Templarios and Los Zetas through community service provisions and cartels’ governance. Additionally, socioeconomic factors of Tierra Caliente will be examined to determine which types of communities lend themselves to cartels to provide community provisions as I argue that socioeconomic factors drive cartels’ operations and behaviors.

This research paper examines the role of how program participation in food access programs influences political participation in the US, specifically “Does program participation in food access programs, such as receiving benefits from SNAP or WIC, influence political participation?” Using a self-reported, weighted 2017 survey of Rural America, this study demonstrates how people receiving food benefits within the last year affect their political participation, specifically how they voted in the 2016 presidential election. Most people who perform a heroic act will, afterward, deny that their actions were heroic and claim that anyone would have done the same, even though that is demonstrably false (and, often, others were present who failed to act heroically at all). The literature on the psychology of heroism has never investigated why this is. This theoretical paper proposes an answer and seeks to provoke exploration of a previously unexplored topic. We note that people who undertake heroic action face a unique conflict: they embody their community’s highest values, while simultaneously breaking norms to stand apart from that community. We …

This dissertation examines the dynamics of the Chana Community Movement, one of Thailand’s most enduring grassroots movements. Originating in the early 1990s with opposition to illegal commercial fishing, the movement has evolved to resist the Chana Industrial Estate Project. The research addresses key questions concerning factors sustaining the movement, tactical adaptations, societal impacts, and its reflection of Thailand’s contemporary political landscape. The study employs a qualitative research methodology, combining document analysis, in-depth interviews, and participant observation, alongside analytical frameworks derived from political struggle studies and social movement theories for comprehensive analysis. งานวิจัยฉบับนี้ศึกษาบทบาทพระธรรมทูตไทยสายอินเดียซึ่งนับเป็นตัวแสดงสำคัญในการส่งเสริมความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างประเทศผ่านกิจกรรมทางพระพุทธศาสนาและสังคมสงเคราะห์ร่วมกับตัวแสดงในระดับต่าง ๆ ประกอบด้วย หน่วยงานด้านการต่างประเทศไทย รัฐบาลท้องถิ่นอินเดีย และสาธารณชนอินเดีย ทั้งหมดมีส่วนเกี่ยวข้องกับการเสริมสร้างความร่วมมือและปฏิสัมพันธ์ทางวัฒนธรรมระหว่างไทยและอินเดีย งานวิจัยฉบับนี้ใช้วิธีการศึกษาเชิงคุณภาพและวิเคราะห์ผลการศึกษาตามกรอบแนวคิดว่าด้วยการทูตวัฒนธรรมที่แสดงให้เห็นถึงกลไกการทำงานของพระธรรมทูตและการสร้างปฏิสัมพันธ์ทางสังคมที่มาจากการสื่อสารสองทาง โดยพิจารณาขอบเขตด้านเวลาตั้งแต่ปี พ.ศ. 2500 ในการก่อตั้งวัดไทยพุทธคยา ที่เป็นจุดเริ่มต้นของความสัมพันธ์ทางพระพุทธศาสนาอย่างเป็นทางการ บทบาทพระธรรมทูตไทยสายอินเดียต้องเผชิญกับความท้าทายในด้านความแตกต่างทางวัฒนธรรม ภาษา ศาสนา และวิถีชีวิต เพื่อปรับตัวให้เข้ากับสาธารณชนอินเดียและสามารถดำรงบทบาทในฐานะผู้แทนทางพระพุทธศาสนาในต่างประเทศอย่างมีประสิทธิภาพ ตลอดจนสามารถนำมาซึ่งความไว้เนื้อเชื่อใจของสาธารณชนอินเดียที่มีต่อไทย จากการศึกษาพบว่าพระธรรมทูตไทยไม่ได้มีเพียงบทบาทในการเผยแผ่พระพุทธศาสนาเพียงอย่างเดียว แต่ยังมีบทบาทสำคัญในการเป็นศูนย์รวมจิตใจต่อสาธารณชนในพื้นที่และผู้ที่เดินทางมาจาริกแสวงบุญในพื้นที่สังเวชนียสถานทั้งสี่ตำบล และมีบทบาทในการสร้างความสัมพันธ์อันดีต่อสาธารณชนอินเดียจากการส่งเสริมกิจกรรมทางพระพุทธศาสนาและสังคมสงเคราะห์ ทำให้การขับเคลื่อนการทูตวัฒนธรรมไทยดำเนินไปอย่างยั่งยืนจากความศรัทธาและร่วมมือระหว่างไทยและอินเดียอย่างแน่นแฟ้น พร้อมทั้งเสริมสร้างภาพลักษณ์ทางวัฒนธรรมและพระพุทธศาสนาเถรวาทไทยให้กลายเป็นจุดเด่นในสังคมอินเดีย ในขณะเดียวกัน พระธรรมทูตไทยได้มีบทบาทมากยิ่งขึ้นต่อการเจริญสัมพันธ์ไมตรีในต่างประเทศและได้รับการตอบสนองเป็นอย่างดีจากสาธารณชนและรัฐบาลท้องถิ่นของอินเดีย โดยวัดไทยในอินเดียได้มีจำนวนเพิ่มมากขึ้นเพื่อเป็นศูนย์อำนวยการช่วยเหลือพุทธศาสนิกชนที่เดินทางมาจาริกแสวงบุญ บทบาทพระธรรมทูตไทยได้แสดงให้เห็นถึงบทบาทในการขับเคลื่อนพระพุทธศาสนา วัฒนธรรม คุณภาพชีวิต และการท่องเที่ยว ทำให้การเสริมสร้างความร่วมมือระหว่างไทยและอินเดียดำเนินต่อไปอย่างยั่งยืนภายใต้พื้นฐานของความเข้าใจอันดี อย่างไรก็ตาม ผลลัพธ์ของการทูตวัฒนธรรมไม่สามารถสำเร็จได้ภายในระยะเวลาอันสั้น แต่ต้องถูกสั่งสมจนเกิดความไว้เนื้อเชื้อใจที่แสดงออกผ่านการมีปฏิสัมพันธ์ ความร่วมมือ และนโยบายต่างประเทศ ด้วยเหตุนี้ การศึกษาประเด็นความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างประเทศสามารถพิจารณาถึงการทูตวัฒนธรรมที่เป็นอีกหนึ่งหนทางในการแสวงหาซึ่งผลประโยชน์แห่งชาติ โดยมีพระธรรมทูตไทยเป็นตัวแสดงทางการทูตที่มีส่วนสำคัญในการเสริมสร้างความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างประเทศและเป็นส่วนหนึ่งในการตอบสนองเจตนารมณ์ตามแผนแม่บทภายใต้ยุทธศาสตร์ชาติประเด็นการต่างประเทศ

While the existing literature on women’s rights has extensively studied the effects of international norms and regimes’ strategic choices on advancing women’s rights across time and space, the research on the effects of state capacity on women’s rights promotion has been strikingly limited. In this paper, I argue that the robustness of state institutions is a prerequisite factor for advancing women’s status irrespective of regime type and international incentives. This thesis investigates the underlying causes of the global rise in right-wing populism support in the twenty-first century. I will examine both the origins of these shifts in public opinion and their consequences for political systems and global interactions.
