Objective. The purpose of this qualitative Life History study is to gather information about the evolution and history of occupational therapy (OT) practice from individuals who have been influential in developing OT.

Method. A one-hour, semi-structured interview was conducted with Dr. Gail Bass to gather information on her experiences in her works of occupational therapy. Once the interview was completed, it was transcribed verbatim by the researchers. Open coding was then used to identify codes, then categories, themes, and finally an overall assertion.

Results. Three major categories emerged from Dr. Bass' life history consisting of education, professional opportunities, and evolution. …

Objective: This qualitative life history is part of a larger project that is aimed at gathering information about the history and evolution of occupational therapy in North Dakota and Wyoming. The purpose of this study is to gain a better insight of the influences that Maggie Butler has contributed to the occupational therapy profession.

Method: A semi-structured one hour interview was conducted with the participant and two researchers. The interview was transcribed and data was analyzed to produce codes, categories, themes, and a final assertion.

Background and Purpose. Low back pain is a major disabling diagnosis for adults over 60 with 36-70% suffering from this condition. There is little research demonstrating the effectiveness of physical therapy on the outcome of older patients with a lumbar disc herniation resulting in lumbosacral radiculopathy. The purpose of this scholarly project is to use a case report to explore the effectiveness of physical therapy in elderly patients with lumbosacral radiculopathy as the result of a L5-S1 disc herniation.

Chronic low back pain (CLBP) is currently ranked as the 13th most frequent diagnosis in family practice (DynaMed Plus, 2017). Unfortunately, the severe nature of this pain leads providers to prescribe opiates for these patients. Opiates are effective for short term pain management but they have a significant side effect profile. Other forms of management for CLBP need to be identified and utilized. Background & purpose: Meniscus tears are commonly considered to be associated with a traumatic event, but the degenerative nature of osteoarthritis can also damage the cartilage. As meniscal tears are a common orthopedic pathology, choosing the correct treatment can be difficult and involve several factors. Current treatment options include partial or total meniscectomy, meniscal repair, or conservative management. There is growing research supporting the effectiveness in non-operative management of degenerative meniscal tears (DMT). The purpose of this case report was to investigate the non-operative management of a 47-year-old male with a unilateral DMT combined with osteoarthritis.

Background and Purpose: Stroke is one of the leading causes of death in the United States and can cause severe, debilitating, and lasting effects. Although a fair amount of research has been performed on treatment of individuals following a stroke, few studies exist looking at the collaborative efforts of physical therapy and music therapy.

Case Description: This case follows the 13-week interdisciplinary care of an 83-year old female patient with chronic impairments following a cerebrovascular accident suffered approximately 2 years prior.
