Experiencing the unexpected death of a close family member or friend may cause occupational disruptions in social participation, work and school performance, home management, and personal care maintenance (Simpson & Elberty, 2018; Forhan, 2010; Hoppes, 2005; Weis et al., 2019). Little research highlights the unique occupational impacts of unexpected loss, distinguished from other types of loss, and from a direct occupational perspective. Therefore little is known about how to provide aid, resources, and programming to this population. This literature review will analyze the use of narrative therapy (NT) techniques, dance/movement therapy (DMT) techniques, and expressive therapy (ET) techniques in an effort to distinguish where theoretical parallels exist between these methods of counsel. Narrative therapy is a postmodern framework of counseling that assists clients in resisting damaging stories that have been embedded through bioecological systems of exposure throughout development. Narrative therapy structures its philosophy through processes of externalization and deconstruction, and encourages the process of reframing or re-authoring one’s personal self-narrative. Background: People with Parkinson’s Disease (PD) undergo progressive motor, cognitive, and psychosocial symptoms, which decrease their quality of life (QOL). Adapted tango (AT) has recently emerged as a promising approach to ameliorating functional mobility, balance, and gait seen in people with PD.

Methods: A comprehensive literature review is conducted using databases such as PubMed, SCOPUS, and Embase. A wide variety of search terms are used, including but not limited to Parkinson’s disease, exercise, dance, tango, motor, cognitive, psychosocial effects, freezing of gait, and balance.

This presentation aims to explore the role of occupational therapy addressing sexuality and intimacy following the onset of long term physical or neurological disabilities. Background During voluntary limb movement, feedforward postural activation of the trunk and hip musculature occurs to maintain postural stability. This is called an anticipatory postural adjustment (APA). Onset of trunk muscle APAs is delayed in symptomatic individuals with persistent low back pain (LBP). It is not clear how spatial APA organization is affected, or if adaptations in APAs persist between symptomatic episodes. Early intervention programs provide unique opportunities for children to develop cognitive, socioemotional, behavioral, and executive functioning skills which are necessary for success in the school environment. The purpose of this 14-week capstone experience was to integrate trauma-informed occupational therapy principles into an early childhood family education course and to advocate for the role of occupational therapy in postpartum and postnatal wellness. Idiopathic toe walking (ITW) is a gait disorder where children’s initial contacts show limited or no heel touch during the gait cycle. Toe walking can lead to poor balance, increased risk of falling or tripping, leg pain, and stunted growth in children. Introduction: Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) programs are making efforts to recruit underrepresented minorities (URMs) to create a more diverse workforce. Understanding the reapplication process may contribute to more URMs reapplying. The purposes of this study were to examine URM and non-URM DPT program reapplicants, and to identify factors that predicted acceptance or rejection when reapplying to DPT programs.

Review of Literature: Current literature exists regarding the difference between minorities and non-minorities when applying to physical therapy and medical education programs. However, the literature regarding reapplication to DPT programs is nonexistent.

This is a pilot study that will observe the impacts of this program and the possible improvements in focus, visual perception, time management, behavior, and emotional and social regulation. Purpose: The purpose of this study was to assess the interrater reliability of the most recent Functional Movement Screen (FMS), between four second-year physical therapy students. The most recent FMS has added the ankle clearing test (pain and mobility categories) after the inline lunge and modified the rotary stability movement pattern and criteria for scoring. To our knowledge, there has not been a reliability study completed with the most recent additions and modifications of the FMS.
