Purpose: There are limited tools to assist new graduates and novice occupational therapist as they navigate their job responsibilities within acute physical dysfunction settings. The purpose of this scholarly project was to create a resource to address the challenges faced when transitioning to an acute physical dysfunction setting.

Methods: An extensive literature review was conducted on topics relating to: occupational therapy, role transitioning, job responsibilities in an acute setting, environment of acute setting, readiness skills of occupational therapists, challenges faced in an acute setting, and current tools utilized to assist novice therapists in their work transition. The purpose of this qualitative life history study was to gather information about the history and evolution of occupational therapy (OT) practice in North Dakota and Wyoming through life histories of individuals who have been influential in developing OT in these two states. The individual chosen for this study was Lavonne Fox. A purposive sampling method was used to select the participant for the study. The purpose of Occupational Therapy’s involvement with the YMCA in Developing a Program to Address Activities of Daily Living in Those with Parkinson’s Disease was to create a protocol that addresses the needs of those with Parkinson’s Disease (PD), specifically focusing on the area of activities of daily living (ADL). Through the use of occupational therapy perspectives and techniques, this program focuses on increasing and/or maintaining independence and safety during daily tasks in those with PD.

Nine out of ten adults age 50 and older prefer to remain in their homes indefinitely as they age, or as long as they possibly can (Gonyea, & Burnes, 2013). The purpose of this study was to examine the life and legacy of occupational therapist Diane McCormack. The participant was selected through purposive sampling and was interviewed for an hour and a half via a semi-structured interview. Data was collected via a participant interview and document review. Data was analyzed via coding of the interview transcription. Interview questions were pre-formatted by the project directors. The student researchers had the freedom to edit or add interview questions as deemed necessary after gaining approval from the project directors. Objective: The purpose of this life history of Amanda Wahlin was to gather information about the history of occupational therapy in North Dakota and Wyoming, and how it has evolved over time.

Methods: A semi-structured 70-minute interview was conducted via Skype. The interview was then coded for categories and themes.

Results: Twelve codes were established leading to three emergent categories

. Values education, and practicing as an occupational therapist were identified as major themes in Amanda’s life. Through the development of these themes, it became clear that Amanda has had a significant and positive impact on her rural community.
