Continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT) is a complex, high-risk intervention used in intensive care units (ICUs) for critically ill patients with acute kidney injury and hemodynamic instability. ICU nurses are responsible for initiating, monitoring, troubleshooting, and discontinuing CRRT while providing continuous bedside care (Richardson & Whatmore, 2015). However, variability in training frequency and competency validation remains a significant gap, potentially contributing to errors and adverse patient outcomes. Guided by the Iowa Model of Evidence-Based Practice, a literature review was conducted to identify best practices for CRRT training. Abstract

Purpose: Postoperative nausea and vomiting (PONV) affect a significant number of surgical patients. This Doctor of Nursing Practice project aimed to assess PONV rates and evaluate the effects of dexmedetomidine on PONV incidence in intraabdominal surgical patients. Additionally, the project sought to inform Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNAs) about dexmedetomidine and assess the perceived value of this information through a survey.

Methodology: The retrospective analysis of 9,035 patients was conducted from January 2023 to July 2024. Data were divided into four datasets, and comparisons were made between the datasets to determine PONV rates and the effects of dexmedetomidine. The …

Abstract

Sexual assault (SA) remains a pervasive issue on college campuses in the United States, often compounded by underreporting and a lack of knowledge about available resources. This Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) project aims to educate first-year college students about SA, sexual consent, and available resources to empower students in preventing assaults and seeking help when needed. The intervention, which was integrated into mandatory freshman seminars at a four-year university, was guided by Knowles' Adult Learning Theory. Integrating pedagogical and technological knowledge among faculty is crucial, especially within Florida state colleges’ Nursing (ADN) programs. I explored the impact of three decades of technological advancements on faculty's ability to incorporate technology into their teaching methods using a qualitative, exploratory design; I conducted semi-structured interviews via Microsoft Teams. The analysis of faculty perceptions, experiences, and challenges reveals a significant gap in pedagogical knowledge despite strong subject matter expertise, indicating underdeveloped instructional strategies and learner-centered pedagogies. Additionally, participants exhibited a diverse understanding of the Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge (TPACK) framework, highlighting difficulties in effectively integrating technology, pedagogy, and content knowledge. …
