Abstract

Problem: Colorectal cancer is the third most diagnosed cancer in the United States (Gu et al., 2019). A colonoscopy procedure is the best diagnostic tool to evaluate the colon for pre-cancerous and cancerous polyps (Dang et al., 2020). Inadequate bowel preparation decreases colon visualization where adenomatous colon lesions may be missed.

Methods: Using an observational, pre/post design, a chart review was conducted for this QI project. A high rate of burnout and lack of resiliency is a major problem in nursing graduate students resulting in dropout and mental health issues. MINDSTRONG™ is an evidence-based cognitive behavioral skills-building program with the goal of building resiliency and decreasing burnout through coping skills to improve overall adult health and well-being.

A descriptive design using quantitative data analysis through pre, and post surveys was used. Background: The benefits of breastfeeding are commonly known; however, the rates of exclusive breastfeeding among the Black community are less than those of other ethnic groups. Providing breastmilk or formula to an infant is an individual decision. Influential factors such as cultural background, employment status, socioeconomic status, level of education, and availability of support from family members and health care providers correlate with the method a mother chooses to feed her infant. This project aims to inform oncology nursing practice through the analysis of literature supporting the early integration of palliative care with standard curative oncology treatment for patients with clinically advanced cancer.
