Mechanisms Of Value-Biased Prioritization In Fast Sensorimotor Decision Making, Kivilcim Afacan-Seref 2020 CUNY City College

Mechanisms Of Value-Biased Prioritization In Fast Sensorimotor Decision Making, Kivilcim Afacan-Seref

Dissertations and Theses

In dynamic environments, split-second sensorimotor decisions must be prioritized according to potential payoffs to maximize overall rewards. The impact of relative value on deliberative perceptual judgments has been examined extensively, but relatively little is known about value-biasing mechanisms in the common situation where physical evidence is strong but the time to act is severely limited. This research examines the behavioral and electrophysiological indices of how value biases split-second perceptual decisions and the possible mechanisms underlying the process. In prominent decision models, a noisy but statistically stationary representation of sensory evidence is integrated over time to an action-triggering bound, and value-biases …

Public Policies For Drug Abuse In Brazil And The Us, Daniely Tatmatsu, Carlos Eduardo Siqueira, Zilda del Prette 2020 University of Massachusetts Boston

Public Policies For Drug Abuse In Brazil And The Us, Daniely Tatmatsu, Carlos Eduardo Siqueira, Zilda Del Prette

Gastón Institute Publications

The study’s objective was to discuss public policies for drug abuse prevention targeted to young people in Brazil and the United States. Brazil has formulated its policy with programs that are questioned at the international level on epistemological, theoretical, and methodological grounds. The authors conclude that social policymaking in Latin America is still permeated by dependence on central countries, since the tension between the prohibitionist and harm reduction policies persists in the policy provisions for drug abuse prevention under the National Secretariat for Drug Policies and the Ministry of Health and what is actually implemented. The article suggests pursuing autonomy …

La Posible Consolación De La Música, Antoni Pizà

Publications and Research

Mixed Features Specifier In Mood Disorder: The Prevalence And Associated Factors, M. Paramannantha Veloo Tesini

Student Works (2020-2029)

Introduction: Mixed episode has been an unrelieved source of discussion in the field of psychiatry over the course of two decades as the DSM-IV criteria for both a depressive and manic episode had to be fulfilled to make this diagnosis. Nevertheless, in practice, this threshold was demonstrated to be too high. Therefore, the DSM-5 introduced a less stringent ‘specifier’ in which three symptoms of the opposite pole suffice thereby creating depression and mania with mixed features, respectively. Literatures points out that approximately 40% of patients have mixed episodes, but this figure may be much higher within the context of DSM-5. …
