Purpose: The purpose of this descriptive, qualitative study was to identify and describe the importance of the predictors of juvenile recidivism and the effectiveness of efforts to prevent/avoid juvenile recidivism as perceived by previously detained, arrested, convicted, and/or incarcerated adult students 18 years of age and older exiting from alternative education in Northern California. A second purpose was to explore the types of support provided by alternative schools and the perceived importance of the support to avoid recidivism according to adult students 18 years of age and older exiting from alternative education.

This study was conducted to test the validity of a theoretical framework in developmental psychology of body movement analysis, the Kestenberg Movement Profile (KMP). Motor patterns associated with needs and foundations for affect expression, the tension flow rhythms (TFRs), were examined. Recent research examined the validity of the TFRs in nonclinical adults and found preliminary support for some of the KMP’s assumptions associating smooth (indulging) rhythms with indulgent affects and sharp (fighting) movements with assertive or aggressive affects. In 2014, the Santa Clara County Superior Court received a Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) grant to improve the efficacy of the Juvenile Treatment Court (JTC) and Court for the Individualized Treatment of Adolescents (CITA) programs by streamlining the referral, screening, and court hearing processes. Receipt of the grant allowed the Superior Court to integrate JTC and CITA to establish the Progress Achieved Through Hope and Holistic Services (PATH2 Services) Court.

Exposure to early life adversity may disrupt the development and maturation of neurons and brain circuits, which, in turn, underlie neurodevelopment and mental illnesses. During fetal life, maternal adversity is conveyed to the developing brain via several molecular signals, including the stress hormone corticotropin releasing hormone (CRH). Employing a large well characterized prospective cohort, we find that fetal exposure to placental-origin CRH levels predicts structural and functional brain outcomes in children. Specifically, elevated placental CRH levels portend thinning of selective cortical regions of exposed individuals, with commensurate cognitive and emotional deficits. Background: The world population is aging and the number of older adults with bipolar disorder is increasing. Digital technologies are viewed as a framework to improve care of older adults with bipolar disorder. This analysis quantifies Internet use by older adults with bipolar disorder as part of a larger survey project about information seeking.

Methods: A paper-based survey about information seeking by patients with bipolar disorder was developed and translated into 12 languages. The survey was anonymous and completed between March 2014 and January 2016 by 1222 patients in 17 countries. All patients were diagnosed by a psychiatrist. …

จากปัญหาอัตราการกลับไปเสพสารเสพติดซ้ำของผู้เข้ารับการบำบัดมีแนวโน้มเพิ่มขึ้นทุกปี โดยสาเหตุหนึ่งเกิดจากการขาดการรับรู้ถึงความสามารถของตน ซึ่งการพัฒนาการตระหนักรู้ในตนเองเป็นอีกหนทางหนึ่งในการส่งเสริมการรับรู้ถึงความสามารถของตนอย่างเหมาะสม การวิจัยนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาผลของโปรแกรมการฝึกการตระหนักรู้ในตนเองของผู้ป่วยมีความผิดปกติของการใช้สารกลุ่มแอมเฟตามีน โดยเป็นการศึกษาเชิงกึ่งทดลอง แบบศึกษากลุ่มเดียววัดผลก่อนและหลัง เก็บรวบรวมข้อมูลจากผู้ป่วยที่เข้ารับการบำบัดที่แผนกผู้ป่วยในของสถาบันบำบัดรักษาและฟื้นฟูผู้ติดยาเสพติดแห่งชาติบรมราชชนนี จำนวน 40 คน ซึ่งเข้าร่วมโปรแกรมการฝึก 4 หัวข้อ ได้แก่ 1) การสังเกตและรับรู้ในตนเอง, 2) การฝึกปล่อยวางอารมณ์ รู้ทันความคิด, 3) การตระหนักรู้ในชีวิตประจำวัน และ 4) การวางแผนการดำเนินชีวิตในระยะยาวผ่านการมองหาคุณค่าของบุคคลรอบข้าง รวม 4 ครั้ง ในระยะเวลา 2 สัปดาห์ เครื่องมือที่ใช้ในการวิจัยประกอบด้วย 1) แบบสอบถามข้อมูลพื้นฐานและข้อมูลส่วนตัว 2) แบบวัดการรับรู้ของสติใน 5 ด้าน 3) แบบประเมินความเครียด กรมสุขภาพจิต ใช้สถิติเชิงพรรณนาในการอธิบายลักษณะทั่วไปของกลุ่มตัวอย่าง วิเคราะห์เปรียบเทียบผลก่อนและหลังการเข้าร่วมโปรแกรมด้วยสถิติ pair t-test และวิเคราะห์หาความสัมพันธ์ด้วยค่าสหสัมพันธ์แบบ Pearson จากผลการศึกษาพบว่าหลังจากเข้าร่วมโปรแกรมการรับรู้สติทั้งในภาพรวมและจำแนกตามองค์ประกอบ 5 ด้าน ได้แก่ ด้านการสังเกต ด้านการบรรยายเป็นคำพูด ด้านการรับรู้อิริยาบถ ด้านการไม่ตัดสิน ด้านการไม่ตอบสนองต่อความรู้สึกมีค่าคะแนนสูงขึ้น ในขณะที่ค่าคะแนนความเครียดลดลง โดยมีค่านัยสำคัญทางสถิติที่ระดับ 0.05 คือ 0.001*, 0.113, 0.035*, 0.037*, 0.281, 0.049* และ 0.008* ตามลำดับ และไม่พบความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างลักษณะประชากรและผลต่างของค่าคะแนนก่อน-หลังเข้าร่วมโปรแกรม ผลดังกล่าวแสดงให้เห็นว่าโปรแกรมการฝึกมีประสิทธิภาพในการเพิ่มระดับการตระหนักรู้ในตนเองของผู้เข้าร่วม อีกทั้งสามารถนำไปประยุกต์ใช้ในผู้ป่วยทั้งที่เคยและไม่เคยมีประสบการณ์การฝึกเจริญสติได้ ซึ่งมีความเป็นไปได้ในการช่วยลดปัญหาการกลับมาเสพสารเสพติดซ้ำในผู้เข้ารับการบำบัดรักษาในอนาคต

The present study was designed to determine the correlation between a commonly used cognitive ability test (i.e., Wechsler) and a verbal memory test (i.e., Rey Auditory-Verbal Learning Test) by analyzing archival data from a clinical sample of adults. Many researchers have continued to establish the relationship between cognitive ability, or IQ, and learning and memory skills; however, there is little research regarding when differences between IQ and memory scores are statistically significant. Results of this study indicated 17 of 20 IQ index/memory correlations were statistically significant and a series of simple regressions generated standardized residuals. The purpose of this study was to inquire whether an attachment-informed psychoeducational program is a feasible and effective intervention for couples expecting their first child. The overarching question was: Is an attachment-informed relationship enhancement program, such as Hold Me Tight^® (HMT), helpful to couples in strengthening their relationship and increasing their confidence in becoming first-time parents? การวิจัยในครั้งนี้เป็นการวิจัยเชิงคุณภาพ (Qualitative Research) โดยมีวัตถุประสงค์ เพื่อศึกษาความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างโรคจิตเวชกับสถานการณ์ก่อนและหลังภาวะไร้บ้านในกลุ่มประชากรคนไร้บ้าน และความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างปัจจัยทางจิตสังคมของคนไร้บ้านและการเปลี่ยนแปลงอาการของโรคจิตเวช กลุ่มตัวอย่างคือกลุ่มประชากรคนไร้บ้านในเขตกรุงเทพมหานคร จำนวน 20 คน ซึ่งได้รับการวินิจฉัยจากเครื่องมือวินิจฉัย โรคจิตเวช Mini International Neuropsychiatric (Thai version) (5.0) (M.I.N.I) รวบรวมข้อมูลโดยผู้วิจัยด้วยการสัมภาษณ์เชิงลึก ตามหัวข้อคำถามที่สร้างขึ้น โดยมีเนื้อหาครอบคลุมวัตถุประสงค์ที่ต้องการศึกษา สัมภาษณ์เกี่ยวกับประวัติส่วนตัว สาเหตุสำคัญที่ทำให้ตัดสินใจไร้บ้าน ประวัติความเจ็บป่วยทางจิตเวชของคนไร้บ้านทั้งในอดีตและปัจจุบัน ปัจจัยทางจิตสังคมของคนไร้บ้านและการเปลี่ยนแปลงอาการจิตเวช การวิเคราะห์ข้อมูลใช้การวิเคราะห์เนื้อหา (content analysis) ผลการศึกษาพบข้อมูลความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างสถานการณ์โรคจิตเวชก่อนไร้บ้านและหลังภาวะไร้บ้าน สถานการณ์โรคจิตเวชก่อนไร้บ้าน พบ 4 โรค ได้แก่ โรคซึมเศร้า โรคอารมณ์สองขั้ว โรคติดสุราหรือสารเสพติด และโรคจิต สถานการณ์โรคจิตเวชในปัจจุบัน พบ 5 โรค ได้แก่ โรคซึมเศร้า โรคอารมณ์สองขั้ว โรคติดสุราหรือสารเสพติด โรคจิต และโรควิตกกังวล พบว่าโรคจิตเวชมีความสัมพันธ์กับสาเหตุของการไร้บ้าน โดยเฉพาะอย่างยิ่ง ประชากรกลุ่มที่เสี่ยงต่อการเป็นคนไร้บ้านคือผู้ที่มีอาการจิตเวช ในระดับรุนแรง อาทิ โรคจิตหรือโรคอารมณ์สองขั้ว ซึ่งมีปัจจัยทางด้านสุขภาพจิตทับซ้อนกับปัญหาทางสังคม อันได้แก่ ปัญหาทางเศรษฐกิจ ความสัมพันธ์ภายในครอบครัว ความล้มเหลวของระบบการรักษาผู้ป่วยจิตเวช การสนับสนุนทางสังคม ทัศนคติทางลบ ความไม่รู้และไม่เข้าใจต่อผู้ป่วยจิตเวช ปัญหาเหล่านี้เป็นระเบิดเวลาที่จะสร้างปัญหาให้กับคุณภาพประชากรในอนาคตอย่างเลี่ยงไม่พ้น และพบปัจจัยจิตสังคมที่ส่งผลต่อการเปลี่ยนแปลงอาการจิตเวช ดังนี้ ปัจจัยทางด้านสังคม 6 ด้าน ได้แก่ ปัญหาทางเศรษฐกิจ ปัจจัยด้านการงาน สภาพแวดล้อมและความปลอดภัยในสังคม สุขภาพและความพิการ นโยบายจัดระเบียบคนไร้บ้านของภาครัฐ และการเข้าถึงสวัสดิการทางสังคมและบริการสาธารณสุข และ ปัจจัยทางด้านจิตใจ 3 ด้าน ได้แก่ ความสิ้นหวัง ความโดดเดี่ยว และความรู้สึกไร้ค่า ดังนั้น จึงมีความจำเป็นที่จะต้องสร้างความเข้มแข็งในระดับชุมชน ไปจนถึงระดับนโยบายส่วนกลาง พัฒนาการมีส่วนร่วมของชุมชนในการแก้ไขปัญหาผู้ป่วยจิตเวช โดยเริ่มต้นได้จากการสร้างความเข้าใจพื้นฐานเกี่ยวกับโรคจิตเวชให้กับคนในชุมชนอย่างต่อเนื่อง เพื่อลดอคติ ทำให้เกิดความอาทร นำไปสู่ความช่วยเหลือของชุมชนที่จะมีต่อผู้ป่วยจิตเวชและครอบครัว เพื่อที่จะไม่ต้องแบกรับปัญหาและการแก้ไขสถานการณ์ปัญหาต่าง ๆ เพียงลำพัง เป็นการดีหากมีพื้นที่ในการฟื้นฟู ดูแล ผู้ป่วยจิตเวชที่ไม่สามารถดูแลตัวเองได้ จะมีเพิ่มขึ้นและเป็นต้นแบบในการดูแลผู้ป่วยจิตเวชอย่างรอบด้าน เป็นสิ่งที่ได้เริ่มขึ้นโดยชุมชนที่เข้มแข็งเป็นสำคัญ
