BACKGROUND: The transition between preclinical and clinical years during medical school has been shown to be challenging. Cooper Medical School of Rowan University (CMSRU) implements one required two-week-long shadowing program for first and one one-week-long shadowing program for second-year medical students called Week On the Wards (WOW). The goal of this study is to ascertain whether students who completed the WOW curriculum found it beneficial over the long-term. Specifically, we want to evaluate alumni's impression of the program's influence on career, specialty choice, professional development, personal development, and confidence.

Journal of Sports Medicine and Allied Health Sciences: Official Journal of the Ohio Athletic Trainers Association

Objective: Compare patient satisfaction between telemedicine and in-office visits and between providers post-operatively in an orthopedics setting with athletic trainers and physicians.

Design: Cross-sectional study

Methods: Patients from a Sports Medicine Clinic that received an orthopedic surgical intervention from March 2020-September 2021, and engaged in telemedicine, or an in-office visit post-operatively. Provider type included full-time athletic trainers, resident athletic trainers, physician (MD) resident/fellows, and float athletic trainers. Press-Ganey Patient Experience Surveys were collected at the time of follow up visit, with focus on items, “likelihood to recommend” and “how well staff worked together.”

Introduction: This study investigates the effectiveness of Rapid Cycle Deliberate Practice (RCDP) in preparing medical students for the AAMC's entrustable professional activity of airway management. The best simulation training technique for airway management remains unknown. RCDP is well-suited for simulation-based sequential and algorithmic tasks.

Methods: Sixty-seven second-year medical students participated in three one-hour sessions on Airway Management and IV Induction into Anesthesia. They were randomly assigned to control or test groups, practicing under traditional RCDP or RCDP+ Zeigarnik-Ovsiankina phenomenon (ZOP) learning methods, respectively. BACKGROUND Vertebral osteomyelitis (VO), also known as spinal osteomyelitis or spondylodiscitis, is a rather rare yet serious disease comprising 3%–5% of all osteomyelitis cases, with only 3%–6% of this subset affecting the cervical spine. Risk factors include an advanced age, diabetes, immunosuppression, and intravenous (IV) drug use. The incidence of VO has increased over recent decades, with high-risk patients experiencing higher mortality rates. Treatment guidelines for VO are not standardized and rely on physician preference, often starting with IV antibiotics and progressing to surgery, if necessary. The research study investigates if pilots find aviation health-related materials provided from training or aviation associations to support their own health needs. A mixed methods convergent parallel design was conducted by sampling 27 pilots within general aviation to assess their utilization of aviation health-related materials, health management skills including self-efficacy and prioritization, as well as their views of implementing particular health topics into aviation training. While IPC has been extensively studied, a notable gap exists in understanding the readiness of athletic trainers (ATs) for IPC within hospital system settings. Many allied health professionals are required to receive medication-related education. As the “medication experts,” pharmacists are uniquely qualified to provide such training. Although pharmacy involvement in interprofessional education is frequently described, there is limited data about the pharmacist's role in the allied health didactic setting. This paper describes how two allied health programs leveraged the medication knowledge of pharmacy educators to enhance delivery of medication related content. Strategies are provided for pharmacy and allied health educators who are considering implementing a similar interprofessional model.

The Endocannabinoid System is a physiological system in the body that includes several receptors and ligands. Due to its relatively recent discovery, there is a need for healthcare professionals to be formally educated on the function of this system in the body. The endocannabinoid system is seen as having an increased research interest since the early 1990s given its current status of uncertainty amongst many. The goal of this scoping review is to provide a synoptic analysis of how the Endocannabinoid System functions and integrates within and between different systematic relationships in the body.
