Our study intends to integrate AI-enabled tools in medical education, including but not limited to adaptive learning systems, virtual patients, and AI-enhanced assessment methods, to develop and foster critical thinking and problem-solving skills with the engagement of medical students. It is expected that this provides for a good environment for both teachers and students through workshops, online resources, and collaborative academic projects. We also consider AI-generated images and open educational resources that could augment curricula and personalize the experience for learners. While the reported prevalence of polyneuropathies is 1%-3%, the incidence of hereditary transthyretin amyloidosis in the United States is estimated to be 1 in 100 000 individuals. Polyneuropathies are known to be difficult to treat and lead to significant morbidity. The aim of pain management is symptomatic treatment, with varying approaches to progression prevention being based on the causative pathophysiology.

Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is a complex disease that poses various challenges to patients. Health Literacy (HL) is considered essential for the effective management of CKD. This phenomenological study explored health literacy in 12 patients with chronic kidney disease undergoing hemodialysis in Padang, Indonesia. Semi-structured individual interviews were conducted, and the data were analysed and interpreted using the hermeneutical phenomenological approach of Diekelmann. Limited socioeconomic resources pose a barrier to accessing early intervention (EI) services.

The study yielded 33 participants of EI professionals. The study included an online survey and an optional semi-structured interview. Following data collection, Braun and Clarke’s six-step thematic analysis was utilized to identify themes from the surveys and interview transcriptions (Braun and Clarke, 2006).

The main themes that came from the data analysis are (1) there are barriers impacting access to EI experienced by families in under-resourced communities, (2) there are current supports for families in under-resourced communities accessing EI, (3) EI professionals play a role in decreasing barriers, …

Background: Health professions trainees experience high rates of anxiety and depression but are often reluctant to seek help. Institutional outreach during pre-clinical training may identify vulnerable students, improve resource awareness, and destigmatize psychological counseling. The University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC) Quick Check program is a novel opt-out program connecting health professions students to mental health counselors.

Violence within the healthcare setting has risen significantly, and has crossed into areas where staff are less prepared to manage and deescalate challenging patient encounters. This lack of preparedness and confidence has led to increased staff stress, burn out, and can potentiate poor patient outcomes.

College and high school flutists face significant health risks, including a high prevalence of playing-related injuries and associated psychological stress and social pressures to perform despite the pain. The asymmetrical posture and specific hand and arm positions required for playing the flute increase the risk of musculoskeletal injuries due to repetitive, non-ergonomic movements. BACKGROUND: A growing number of older adults live in senior affordable housing, many with limited support systems and representing underserved or disadvantaged populations. Staff in these buildings are in a unique position to identify and address the healthcare and biopsychosocial needs of their residents and link them to services and supports.

Collaborative Healthcare: Interprofessional Practice, Education and Evaluation (JCIPE)

Over the past year, we – a group of pre/ health professional students – had the immense privilege to participate in the Jefferson Student Interprofessional Complex Care Collaborative (J-SICCC). Our team, composed of five students from diverse backgrounds and areas of study in prehealth and health professions programs, met and began working together in July 2023. With the help of advisors from similarly heterogenous fields, we embarked on a year-long journey with a simple, but not easy, goal: work alongside a single patient with complex care needs to navigate the tumultuous world of health and healthcare.
