Manipal Journal of Nursing and Health Sciences

Introduction: Suicide is a global health crisis, ranking as the fourth leading cause of death among adolescents. The adolescent phase is marked by numerous challenges, such as increased academic pressures, evolving relationships with parents and peers, and self-identity development. Many of these suicides are preventable, but a significant number of young adolescents succumb to suicide due to a lack of awareness and access to support. Digital media, like all other forms of media, can either strengthen or weaken suicide prevention initiatives. Methods: A systematic review will adhere to the PRISMA guidelines. The systematic review will include randomized control trials of …

Balancing Privacy And Flexibility Of Cloud-Based Personal Health Records Sharing System, Yudi Zhang, Fuchun Guo, Willy Susilo, Guomin Yang

Research Collection School Of Computing and Information Systems

The Internet of Things and cloud services have been widely adopted in many applications, and personal health records (PHR) can provide tailored medical care. The PHR data is usually stored on cloud servers for sharing. Weighted attribute-based encryption (ABE) is a practical and flexible technique to protect PHR data. Under a weighted ABE policy, the data user's attributes will be “scored”, if and only if the score reaches the threshold value, he/she can access the data. However, while this approach offers a flexible access policy, the data owners have difficulty controlling their privacy, especially sharing PHR data in collaborative e-health …

Non-Melanoma Skin Cancer Detection In The Age Of Advanced Technology: A Review, Haleigh Stafford, Jane Buell, Elizabeth Chiang, Uma Ramesh, Michael Migden, Priyadharsini Nagarajan, Moran Amit, Dan Yaniv

Faculty, Staff and Student Publications

Skin cancer is the most common cancer diagnosis in the United States, with approximately one in five Americans expected to be diagnosed within their lifetime. Non-melanoma skin cancer is the most prevalent type of skin cancer, and as cases rise globally, physicians need reliable tools for early detection. Artificial intelligence has gained substantial interest as a decision support tool in medicine, particularly in image analysis, where deep learning has proven to be an effective tool. Because specialties such as dermatology rely primarily on visual diagnoses, deep learning could have many diagnostic applications, including the diagnosis of skin cancer. Furthermore, with …

Faculty, Staff and Student Publications

MOTIVATION: Single-cell RNA sequencing enables researchers to study cellular heterogeneity at single-cell level. To this end, identifying cell types of cells with clustering techniques becomes an important task for downstream analysis. However, challenges of scRNA-seq data such as pervasive dropout phenomena hinder obtaining robust clustering outputs. Although existing studies try to alleviate these problems, they fall short of fully leveraging the relationship information and mainly rely on reconstruction-based losses that highly depend on the data quality, which is sometimes noisy.

RESULTS: This work proposes a graph-based prototypical contrastive learning method, named scGPCL. Specifically, scGPCL encodes the cell representations using Graph …
