25% of all traumatic deaths are related to blunt chest trauma and another 50% have in-hospital morbidity and mortality. Recognizing patients with high risk of mortality is just as important as recognizing the immediate severely injured patients. Atlanticare Regional Trauma Center developed a scoring system in an attempt to properly assign these patients to an appropriate level of care. The system was developed based on a literature review but has not yet been studied to review its effectiveness in improving outcomes in chest trauma patients. Biopsy of the lip is a procedure most used by dermatologists in order to obtain histopathological evaluation of a lesion. It has remained the definitive method of diagnosis for many pathologies, including malignancy. However, although the incidence of lip malignancy has been relatively unchanged since 2012, the number of lip biopsies performed has not followed the same trend, but rather steeply declined since. In this study, the national trends in lip biopsies are evaluated. The Medicare Provider Utilization and Payment (MPUP) database was used to evaluate these practice trends in Medicare providers.

At a regional Veterans Administration (VA) hospital, nurses performing case management were unable to perform face-to-face visits with patients due to coronavirus. Care coordination and discharge planning efforts occurred through telephonic case management to preserve personal protective equipment and reduce transmission rates through social distancing. Trust and rapport between patients and nurses were reduced without personal contact. Peplau’s theory of interpersonal relations described six nurse roles and three phases of relationship development required to create therapeutic nurse-patient relationships. Connectedness was a key concept considered to be the path to a successful meaningful therapeutic nurse-patient relationship (Hrabe, 2005).

Background: The COVID-19 pandemic disproportionately impacts Spanish-speaking communities. COVID-19-related health information is overall more available in English than Spanish. From May to August 2020, Spanish COVID-19-related resources on our institution’s website had an average of 2954 views/month compared to 48573 views/month to the English COVID-19-related resources.


Objective:
Our project aim was to increase the percent of page views for Spanish COVID-19-related resources on our institution’s website from 5.7% of the total views to the COVID-19-related pages, to 20% from September 2020 through June 2021.

Background: Individuals living with multiple chronic conditions (MCC) account for 26% of the population; however, they consume 84% of healthcare resources, are three times more likely to have depression than healthy individuals, and have increase emergency room (ER) visits and healthcare resource use. This population requires coordinated health care to reduce unnecessary spending and the misappropriation of healthcare resources.
