Advanced Techniques In Women's Field Hockey With Emphasis On Teaching Aids, Harriet Louise Sheldon Jan 1950

Advanced Techniques In Women's Field Hockey With Emphasis On Teaching Aids, Harriet Louise Sheldon

University of the Pacific Theses and Dissertations

The teaching of organized physical education for girls in our schools is rather new in comparison to the number of years schools have existed. In some states physical education is not part of the curriculum but in others, such as California, it is required by law. When one realizes that physical education in the schools is in its infancy one becomes aware of the fact that source materials must therefore be inadequate. Hockey, although an ancient sport, is one of the comparatively newest field sports in the curriculum of the physical education program in the United States. As a result …

A History Of The Stockton Recreation Department, 1910 To 1947, Including Its Early Background, And The Development Of Its Program And Facilities, Bert Edward Swenson

University of the Pacific Theses and Dissertations

For a period of twenty years beginning in 1918 when the writer became Superintendent of the Stockton Playground Department, annual reports of its major activities and accomplishments were made and submitted to the Mayor and later the City Manager for their information. They helped in securing the next budget. Throughout the thirty years of service additional reports of activities and improvements in facilities were kept on file in the office of the department for the information of its officers and a permanent record.

The writer finds that he has been a part. of the supervised public playground movement since its …

A Survey Of The Course Content In Sixteen State Courses Of Study In Health Education For The Secondary School, Ella Ida Cutkosky Jan 1950

A Survey Of The Course Content In Sixteen State Courses Of Study In Health Education For The Secondary School, Ella Ida Cutkosky

University of the Pacific Theses and Dissertations

It was in the belief that a summary of the course content of state courses of study in health education would be of value and interest in the light of present trends in curriculum construction that this study was written.

The purpose of this investigation was to survey sixteen state courses of study compiled by their respective state education departments, to determine the details of content considered most essential in health education at the high school level.

An Experimental Study With College Men To Determine The Effects Of Teaching Method On The Ability To Learn Volleyball Skills, Eugene Marion Stagnaro Jan 1950

An Experimental Study With College Men To Determine The Effects Of Teaching Method On The Ability To Learn Volleyball Skills, Eugene Marion Stagnaro

University of the Pacific Theses and Dissertations

It was the purpose of this study to evaluate objectively the method of teaching men’s teams classes in physical education at Stockton College. A well organized instructional schedule consisting of elements from research versus the ‘free play’ method presents the problem in its varying aspects.

Both methods have been employed in the classes over a period of years and a committee has been organized to evolve a scientific approach as to content and teaching methods.
