Representation Of ‘Fractured Memory Regime’ In The Context Of Hasidic Pilgrimages To Uman, Alla Marchenko

The main goal of this paper is to analyse how ‘memory regime’ (Kubik & Bernhard) could be researched on a local level, using the example of attitudes to Jewish history and Hasidic pilgrimages in Uman, Ukraine. What types of ‘mnemonic actors’ (Kubik & Bernhard) prevail in Uman? Which statements about the contemporary Hasidic pilgrimages are supported by local inhabitants, and how do they reflect positions of the locals in the local memory field?
