There is a disproportionate representation of minorities in the criminal population, but not within the sex offender population. Some suggeset that ethnicity is a critical difference between offenders, but little research has been done to explore to what extent ethnic differences are evident within the sex offender population. The current study focused on a group of high-risk sex offenders who are participating in a mandatory state-sponsered treatment program within the County of San Bernardino, State of California. Attitudes Toward Borderline Personality Among Mental Health Professionals, Roseanne Bean Gonzalez

The primary focus of this study is to explore the underlying reasons for the negative attitudes that mental health professionals harbor toward clients diagnosed with borderline personality disorder. Of main concern is a problem that involves a lack of desire on the part of the clinicians to treat individuals with an Axis II diagnosis, specifically Borderline Personality Disorder. Much of this attitude can be attributed to the fact that clients presenting with symptoms of BPD exhibit extremely destructive personality characteristics that cause others to distance themselves.

This correlational descriptive research was focused on the Lesbian, Gay Bisexual, Transgender, and Questioning (LGBTQ) youth within the foster care system. Specifically it studied how the demographic factors of age, race, sexual identity, and refferal source impact their lengths of stay in a group home and discharge destinations. It is hoped that the findings will assist further research and lead to greater success in addressing the needs of the most vulnerable population within the scope of social work practice.

The purpose of this study was to attempt to discern whether or not relationships exist between type and severity of ones disability and ones desire for a cure. The question this paper addressed is whether or not the type of disability a person has and the severity of it affects his or her identity, and ultimately, acceptance or rejection of a cure. Background It is important to identify and provide preventative interventions for youth who are most at risk for offending behaviour, but the connection between early childhood or adolescent experiences and later delinquency adjudication is complicated. Aim To test for associations between specified mental disorders or maltreatment and later delinquency adjudication. Method Participants were a random sample of youth before the juvenile courts in two Northeast Ohio counties in the USA (n = 555) over a 4-year time frame (2003 to 2006). Results Logistic regression analysis identified a lifetime diagnosis of depression and/or bipolar disorder to be predictive of later youth …
