The concept of assessing safety culture in an organization emerged with its application at the nuclear power industry and has expanded since then. An assessment of nuclear security, on the contrary, is still under-developed, especially at non-nuclear facilities, such as academic institutions and medical facilities. To identify the level of the awareness and understanding of credible nuclear and radiological threats, response preparedness, security culture, and the integrity of nuclear security systems among non-radioactive material users at a university setting; a campus-wide survey was deployed. A total of 3,336 non-radioactive material users, including students, faculty, and staff participated in the survey. …

Visualizing Election Results With Arcgis, Ryan Day

In 2018, Porter County, Indiana held its municipal elections concurrent with the national midterm elections. Using ArcGIS, the election results for the fourway race for the Duneland School Board at-large seat are mapped. These results are compared to other area election results, voter characteristics, and previous election results to try to visualize the correlation between factors affecting the race, including candidate ideology, geographic base, area demographics, turnout, and national electoral trends. This project serves as a demonstration of how GIS software can improve the understanding of what influences voters and election outcomes.

This baseline survey was conducted on the 27th and 28th of November, 2017 to generate a dog population size estimate and collect baseline data on the composition of the dog population. We estimate that there are 48 street dogs in the Kalhaar Bungalows area (all the sectors of Kalhaar Bungalows). This translates to about 6 dogs per 100 residents in the Kalhaar Bungalows area. Sterilization rates were high with 90% of the dogs being sterilized and 84% of the female population. The street dog survey was conducted by walking along all the streets of the Kalhaar Bungalows. Street dog surveys were conducted across all twelve wards in Vadodara using the methodology already implemented in 2014 to reassess the composition and sterilization rate in the street dog population. Extensive household surveys across six of the twelve wards (ward 1, 2, 5, 7, 8 and 9) were conducted to estimate the total private dog population and to explore dog demographics. Humane Society International (HSI) in cooperation with the Quezon City Veterinary Department (QCVD) conducted a dog population survey in District II of Quezon City, Philippines (figure 1). Quezon City accounts for 23.3% of Metro Manila’s total population. It is part of the National Capital Region (NCR) and is located near the center of Metro Manila (figure 2). It has a land area of 161.126 km² (16,112.6 hectares) with a human population of 2,936,116 million (Census, 2015) with an estimated annual growth rate of 2.42%. The population density is 19,151 persons per km².

Abaco, an island in the Bahamas, has a population of 10,003 in 2,998 households. Of this population, 3,381 (or 34%) live in 1,177 (or 39%) of the households in Marsh Harbour, the largest community on the island (Bahamas Department of Statistics, 2000). Two studies of the Abaco dog population in Marsh Harbor were conducted. The first was in February, 2000 and the second was in October 2000. Three AARF/SNIP clinics were held between the two studies in February, May and July, 2000. A fourth clinic was held in October after the second survey.

A study of the ecology and public health impact of urban cats in two neighborhoods in Baltimore (Childs, 1982) indicated that the frequency of cat ownership varied from 20.1% of households to 7.4% of households in the two contrasting areas. It is interesting to note that the low percentage of cats occurred in the low income and predominately Black neighborhood. Information obtained for this study on the age structure of animals in the community varies slightly, depending upon the data source.
