The Mine Action Information Center (MAIC) at James Madison University, through a grant from the US Department of State via RONCO Consulting Corporation, implemented this project to develop a framework for the systematic collection and management of landmine casualty data. This report focuses on Phase II of the project, with Phase I already completed and Phase III to build on the results of Phase II.

The MCV 910, designed for clearing surfaces is a mobile mine clearance device accredited also for the public road traffic. On the rear part it presents a special rotating 4 clearance device, hydraulically operated. The clearance takes place through the rotation movement of the flail, which should, through this action, detonate the mines. When working, the vehicle moves in the opposite direction to road movement and it can be either operated through a computerized automatic pilot steering system or manually using a joystick. The “big questions” articles previously published in Public Administration Review found a widely divergent set of questions rather than a shared research agenda. This article applies the concept of layers of society to analyzing the author's starting points and developing questions that link the organizational and institutional levels. Connecting these levels offers the potential to overcome the limitations of problem solving on only one level. In addition, this framework explains the diversity of research in public administration as potentially productive and connected, rather than fragmented and in intellectual disarray. The project team has conceptualized several possible university marketing initiatives. These initiatives revolve around a central concept: increasing out-ofstate student enrollment at VCU. Retention is an important area of concern for Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU). This project involves devising initiatives to identify and retain students with a high potential for academic success as outlined in the Strategic Plan for the Future of Virginia Commonwealth University, Phase II. It is theorized that by concentrating efforts on students (both in-state and out-of-state) with a cummulative GPA of 3.0 or higher, an improvement in the six-year graduation and freshmen retention rates can be realized. Involvement in community partnerships at Virginia Commonwealth University has its roots in the institution's history. The Medical College of Virginia, founded in1838, and the Richmond Professional Institute, founded in 1917, both sought to extend knowledge into the community to change peoples' lives for the better. Today, the VCU campuses are even more entwined with the City of Richmond -- physically, and increasingly so as a partner in the economic and social challenges and opportunities facing the City.

Two forms of infantry weapons–grenades and land mines–complemented the small arms used by Japanese army and naval landing forces in World War II. These forces employed numerous types of hand grenades, which generally ranged in weight to 10 to 20 ounces.

The increased flow of goods, people, and ideas associated with globalization have contributed to an

increase in noncommunicable diseases in much of the world. One response has been to encourage lifestyle changes with educational programmes, thus controlling the lifestyle-related disease. Key assumptions with this approach are that people’s food preferences are linked to their consumption patterns, and that consumption patterns can be transformed through educational initiatives. To investigate these assumptions, and policies that derive from it, we undertook a broad-based survey of food-related issues in the Kingdom of Tonga using a questionnaire. Global warming seems destined to become one of the defining issues of the twenty-first century. Most scientists now agree that measurable increases in average global mean temperatures over the past decades cannot be explained by natural temporal variations in the earth’s climate. Instead, global warming appears to be a fact that can be attributed to human induced changes in the composition of greenhouse gasses in the earth’s atmosphere. Moreover, if the trend toward ever increasing temperatures continues, consequences for the earth’s environment will be dramatic, and perhaps irreversible. A move toward Montenegrin independence would cause Serbian public opinion to focus inward and would likely be the first step in the process towards true democratic evolution. Russia is not likely to support Montenegrin independence and Russia is unlikely to take decisive action to save the Yugoslav Federation. The removal of Slobodan Milosevic from power will have a modest impact on the prospects for maintaining independence.
