A mine blast incident occurred at approximately 07:27hrs on Monday 05/02/2007 in the lane No-2 in the minefield 71390013. The deminer detonated a No-10 Israeli anti personnel blast mine due to hacking. At the time of the incident the deminer was wearing the PPE (Body vest and Goggles). The deminer clearing the mine belt hit the mine on the top by heavy rake resulted in a mine blast. The deminer sustained THREE MINOR INJURIES IN UPPER LIP AND LEFT CHEEK/CHIN.

EMAO (Ethiopian Mine Action Office) is a large demining organisation, with growing capabilities, that has performed increasingly well since its establishment. Its demining operations have made a substantial contribution to the resettlement and rehabilitation efforts in the war-affected districts (woredas) of Tigray and Afar, delivering significant socio-economic benefits for those regions and promoting Ethiopia's post-war recovery. The 26th of January 2007, approx 12.25 (local time SL), the HQ in Jaffna was called up by the Team leader of Team 5, working in a heavy dense (P4s) minefield, LK-23B.The message he gave was that one of his deminers had set one mine of in his lane while conducting mine clearance. The mentioned deminer was taken out of work for the rest of the day. The minefield consists of rocky ground with both loose rock and solid/fixed rock.

On 29 Oct 06 an accident involving a staff member of KEC (The Indian contractor currently engaged to refurbish the power-line) detonated a PMN2 AP whilst he was excavating at internal base of Tower No 60. Towers 60 and 62 are located in what was addressed as MF Code 01-0103-11-041 during the 1996 clearance.
