引言

中国的经济体制改革已经进行了将近二十年。在这一过程中, 居民收入分配的格局发生了很大变化。

本章试图对收入分配格局的变化,特别上收入差距扩大的状况作一考察。由于收入分配涉及的面很广,本章拟集中考察收入分配变化的一些重要方面。

为了更好地考察改革以来收入分配的变化情况,还拟对改革以前中国居民收入分配的特点作一简要的回顾与分析, 以便对这种变化的起点和背景有一个基本的了解和判断。

中国的经济改革是同经济发展或增长紧密地联系在一起的,换言之, 中国从计划经济向市场经济转换的过程是同从二元经济向现代经济转换的过程交织在一起的。中国居民收入分配格局的变化是在这样两个转变的过程中实现的。因此, 本章还试图从经济发展、经济改革以及与此有关的政策因素中去分析收入差距变化的原因。

在本章的最后, 我们拟对今后如何改进收入分配提出一些具有政策含义的建议。 本章所引用的资料, 有一部分来自于中国社会科学院经济研究所收入分配课题组(以下简称经济所课题组) 对1988年和1995年城乡居民收入分配状况所作的抽样调查, 有一部分来自于国家统计局以及其他渠道。凡未注明出处者, 均来自于上述两次抽样调查。

I observed the February 1990 elections in Nicaragua as a member of both the Latin American Studies Association observation team and that of Hemisphere Initiatives, a group with which I have worked. In El Salvador I headed the Hemisphere Initiatives team. I visited Nicaragua five times during the electoral period, and for El Salvador, for once my academic calendar coincided with Salvadoran history. A sabbatical in the last academic year allowed me to be there during the electoral period.

This thesis investigates reelection moderation in the U.S. Senate on economic, social, and foreign policy between 1983 and 1994. I test 3 hypotheses based on the assumption that senators moderate their voting records when seeking reelection to appeal to the median voter. My hypotheses are: (1) Both groups of senators will moderate on economic policy, but a larger percentage of Democrats will moderate than Republicans (2) A majority of Democratic senators will moderate on social policy, but only a small percentage of Republicans will moderate. This paper presents the results of an indirect psychodiagnostic assessment of the political personality of U.S. vice president Al Gore, Democratic nominee in the 2000 presidential election, from the conceptual perspective of Theodore Millon.

Information concerning Al Gore was collected from published biographical and autobiographical accounts and political reports in the print media, and synthesized into personality profiles using the second edition of the Millon Inventory of Diagnostic Criteria (MIDC), which yields 34 normal and maladaptive personality classifications congruent with Axis II of DSM-IV.

Which ethnic groups are more likely to secede is a debated question among scholars. One view, as proposed by Immanuel Wallerstein, holds that ethnic groups living in economically advanced regions are more likely to secede. In contrast, other scholars like Donald Horowitz claim that backward groups in backward regions are more likely to secede. One aim of this thesis is to explore which view has better explanatory power for two republics in the Russian Federation: the Republic of Chechnia and the Republic of Tatarstan.
