Research Objective: The Affordable Care Act created new resources and incentives for hospitals, insurers, public health agencies, and others to contribute to disease prevention and health promotion activities, potentially changing the structure of public health delivery systems and expanding the implementation of strategies that improve population health. This study uses data from the 1998-2014 National Longitudinal Survey of Public Health Systems to examine: (1) the extent and nature of change in inter-organizational contributions to public health activities, which we use as indicators of public health “system capital”; and (2) the effects of these changes on preventable mortality and resource use. …

Considerable uncertainty persists about the resources required to implement public health programs and policies, and about the factors that drive variation in resource needs and utilization across community and institutional settings. This paper reviews several alternative approaches to cost estimation that we have used in the field of public health services & systems research (PHSSR). This review was prepared for an expert panel meeting convened as part of a study commissioned by the U.S. Assistant Secretary for Planning and Evaluation (ASPE) to estimate the costs associated with public health emergency preparedness capabilities.

المستخلصهدفت هذه الدراسة إلى بيان أثر الخداع التسويقي على القرار الشرائي لزبائن المستشفيات الخاصة في مدينة عمان، ولتحقيق ذلك فقد قاما الباحثان بتصميم استبانة من أجل جمع البيانات الخاصة بالدراسة حيث قاما بتوزيعها على عينة الدراسة ومقدارها (500) مبحوثٍ جميعهم من زبائن المستشفيات الخاصة في مدينة عمان وقد شملت العينة جنسيات مختلفة من الزبائن ولم تقتصر على جنسية دون الأخرى. أظهرت: إن الخداع التسويقي في جميع المجالات يؤثر بشكل كبير على القرار الشرائي بجميع مراحله (ما قبل الشراء، الشراء، ما بعد الشراء) بنسبة بلغت (71.62%). كما تبين من التحليل أنه لا توجد فروق ذات دلالة إحصائية عند مستوى الدلالة (0.05=α) …

A review of the history of housing in Ireland shows that owner occupancy and social housing were policy choices by successive governments. Owner occupancy was heavily supported through a system of grants and tax breaks and social housing was directly provided through local authorities at subsidised rents. Precipitated by the legislative decision to decouple child Medicaid benefits from welfare receipt, the number of young children qualifying for public health insurance grew markedly throughout the 1980s and early 1990s. From a baseline of roughly 15% in the average state at the beginning of the decade, the rate increased to more than 40% of all young children in the United States by the time all federal mandates were fully enacted in 1992. ملخص الدراسةتهتم الدراسة الحالية باستكشاف طبيعة تأثير معوقات تطبيق الإدارة الالكترونية على وظائف إدارة علاقات الزبون، اتخذت الدراسة من موظفي مصرف الرافدين عينة لها، حيث تم توزيع استمارة استبيان بواقع (60) استبانة (50) استبانة صالحة للتحليل و(10) استبانة غير صالحة أي نسبة استجابة تبلغ 83 % وجرى تحليل البيانات باستخدام الأساليب الإحصائية الملائمة (الأوساط الحسابية والانحرافات المعيارية والارتباط والانحدار). وبعد تحليل النتائج، أتضح وجود علاقة ارتباط وأثر بين معوقات تطبيق الإدارة الالكترونية وإدارة علاقات الزبون. وخرجت الدراسة بجملة من الاستنتاجات أهمها المحاولات جادة من قبل المصرف لتطبيق الإدارة الالكترونية لتسهيل إجراءات العمل الإداري وتقليل الوقت والجهد والسرعة في انجاز العمل. …

This thesis shows the limitations of price and quality information for improving the value of healthcare delivery in the United States. First, in four survey experiments to determine the impact of information on decision-making, consumers were more likely to choose the lower cost or higher quality option when relevant information was presented in straightforward ways with a minimized risk of information overload (n = 224, t = -3.7065, p = 0.0002). This study analyzes the determinants of early-stage VC investments by identifying characteristics in the economic, institutional, as well as cultural framework that could explain the diverging levels of early-stage VC investments across countries. Data was assembled for 16 countries during the period from 1995 until 2013. The results indicate that countries that are more open to trade are associated with higher levels in early-stage venture capital. A higher unemployment rate negatively affects a country’s level of early-stage VC funds. In this article, we explore how crime and institutions affect the flow of capital in the form of foreign direct investment (FDI) to Latin American and Caribbean countries in the primary, secondary and tertiary sectors during the 1996-2010 period. We use three different variables related to violent crime: homicides, crime victimization, and an index of organized crime. We find that there is a correlation between the institutional and crime variables, where the significance of institutional variables tends to disappear when the crime variables are added to the model. Introduction: The extraordinarily high incidence of HIV in sub-Saharan Africa led to the search for cofactor infections that could explain the high rates of transmission in the region. Genital inflammation and lesions caused by sexually transmitted infections (STIs) were a probable mechanism, and numerous observational studies indicated several STI cofactors. Nine out of the ten randomized controlled trials (RCTs), however, failed to demonstrate that treating STIs could lower HIV incidence. We evaluate all 10 trials to determine if their design permits the conclusion, widely believed, that STI treatment is ineffective in reducing HIV incidence.
