There is a problem in the United States national security enterprise related to the National Guard’s organizational responsibilities to state and federal governments, and it was unknown whether this hybrid structure caused capabilities to diverge between pre-9/11 and post-9/11 national security priorities. Due to climate change, the need to protect biodiversity and reduce pollution, and governmental regulations, many organizations are aiming to become more environmentally sustainable. In this context, researchers and practitioners are increasingly interested in the construct of employee green behavior (EGB). EGB has been considered by numerous empirical studies over the last two decades and its associations with demographic characteristics, individual differences, workrelated perceptions, and job attitudes. This paper investigates the effect of enterprise risk management (ERM) implementation on the cost of capital (cost of debt, cost of equity, and weighted average cost of capital) for the oil and gas industry. The research is conducted using panel data analysis from 2008-2017 for 41 oil and gas companies publicly listed on the Bursa Malaysia. ERM implementation data is collected from company annual reports, while the cost of capital data is obtained from Thomson Reuters DataStream. The results indicate that an increase in the level of ERM implementation reduces the cost of capital, which we argue is one mechanism …

The ASEAN region is one of the most susceptible regions to climate change, with three of its countries—Myanmar, the Philippines, and Thailand—among those that have suffered the greatest fatalities and economic losses because of climate-related disasters. This paper reveals that the ASEAN’s environmental performance is sorely lagging other regions despite evidence of its cohesive and comprehensive efforts to mitigate emissions and build up adaptive capacity to climate-related disasters. Within the ASEAN, there exist gaps in environmental performance between each country. Container liner shipping is the primary mode of moving manufactured products across continents. Partly due to inherent uncertainties at sea and ports, the liner shipping industry has long had a notorious reputation of schedule delays and unreliable on-time performance. This paper formulates a new approach to incorporate schedule reliability targets in liner shipping timetable design, to balance bunker consumption, time taken for the voyage, and schedule delays. We first model a surrogate problem using a copositive program through a moment decomposition approach and solve it as a convex semidefinite programming relaxation. For subsistence communities, the question is whether aspirations can be applied to motivate behavior that is, on the one hand consistent with people’s aspirations, but which might otherwise be difficult to elicit. Could poorer households be encouraged to save, to spend more on their children’s education, or to act against unhealthy social norms? A couple of examples suggest this is not only possible, but highly successful in contexts where other appeals fail.

Government efficiency was mentioned as an important factor for inbound tourism; however, its mitigating effect on the performance of inbound tourism in the context of natural disasters has not been empirically researched. يمتلك البنك المركزي العراقي الاحتياطيات الاجنبية الناجمة عن شراء الدولار من وزارة المالية وتزويدها بالدينار العراقي لإنفاقه على بنود الموازنة العامة، اذ ان معظم واردات وزارة المالية هي بالعملة الاجنبية ومعظم نفقاتها بالدينار العراقي، فتقوم وزارة المالية بيع الدولار الى البنك المركزي، الذي يتولى اعادة بيعه الى القطاع الخاص للحصول على الدينار، اذ يغطي القطاع الخاص استيراداته بالدولار المشترى، فضلاً عن تغطية الطلبات الاخرى، فعندما يكون الطلب على الدولار اقل مما يحصل عليه البنك المركزي يذهب الفائض الى احتياطي العملة الاجنبية، وعندما يكون الطلب على الدولار اكبر من المورد الاجنبي المتاح يستخدم احتياطي العملة الاجنبية لتغطية العجز، لذلك يزداد الاحتياطي …

تتمثل معايير التعليم المحاسبي بكونها إرشادات عامة والموجه الأساس لبرامج التعليم المحاسبي حيث تؤدي الى توجيه وترشيد الممارسات التعليمية في المجال المحاسبي، حيث يقوم مجلس المعايير الدولية للتعليم المحاسبي (IAESB) الذي تأسس في شهر نوفمبر من العام 2003 بإصدار هذه المعايير بهدف الوصول إلى مخرجات تعليمية المحاسبون المرشحون تتمتع بالكفاءة والمهارات المهنية الاتزمة، كما تهدف إلى توحيد الأسس التعليمية المتبعة من قبل الدول والهيئات المحاسبية العضوة في الاتحاد الدولي للمحاسبين، ولا يخرج هدف بيانات الموقف للجنة تغيير التعليم المحاسبي بالولايات المتحدة الأمريكية عن هذا النطاق اذ تتضمن عددا من التوجيهات والارشادات الهادفة الى اصلاح برامج التعليم المحاسبي وتحسين أداء الخريجين …
