In the United States, each year, there are at least one million cases of child sexual abuse and even more cases that were not reported. For the cases that are reported, the child will meet with a social worker or other professional for a forensic interview. The goal of a forensic interview is to explore claims or suspicions of sexual abuse. The sexually abused children who participate in these interviews have already been traumatized and may not want to disclose. The purpose of this study is to address the relationship between optimism/pessimism, perception and roommate relationships in college students. Participants were conveniently pooled from Southeastern University and were assessed via an online survey. Literature was compiled supporting the hypotheses that the researcher created. After analysis, it was found that optimism/pessimism correlated with roommate relationships and perceived similarity of optimism and pessimism correlated with roommate relationships. Non-suicidal self-injury and suicide ideation are important issues and known predictors of suicide attempts for any demographic, but specifically for minority groups who are significantly understudied and underreported in comparison to their White and Heterosexual counterparts. It has been found that among adolescents and college students, minority students are disproportionately impacted and are at greater risk for suicidal ideation and behavior. The goal of the present study was to examine the role of both ethnic and sexual minority experience in NSSI and suicide attempts, as well as potential protective factors. Unplanned pregnancy is a concern for emerging adult men, but their contraceptive options are limited. With male hormonal contraception clinical trials in progress, it is important to investigate men’s attitudes toward alternative contraception. Many social factors, such as masculine norms, may hinder their interest. This study used the prototype–willingness model to investigate college men’s willingness to pursue hormonal contraception. Male college students (N = 160; Mage = 19.37, SD = 1.33; 61.9% White) read a description of male contraception clinical trials and filled out a questionnaire assessing prototype–willingness and masculinity constructs. Preventive cancer screenings are essential to early detect cancer and subsequently save lives. However, out-of-pocket expenditures for cancer screening services deter individuals from obtaining them. In an effort to improve the utilization of cancer screening, the Affordable Care Act (ACA) implemented a cost-sharing elimination provision that removes all forms of cost sharing including copayments, co-insurance and deductibles from certain preventive care services that are recommended by widely known scientific figures such as the United States Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF). Technological advancements have changed the way notes are taken. This study will examine gender and note-taking style on the student's ability to recognize words. Participants were instructed to either write, type or read a set of randomly generated words. After a word search buffer, participants were instructed to complete a post-test. Lastly,participants completed a questionnaire. Past studies have supported that handwriting notes is the most effective way for students to retain information and score higher on tests.

The presence of a celebrity can influence consumer behavior. Participants were shown a photograph with a celebrity holding a beverage with the text "Owned by Ryan Reynolds" or they are shown the same photograph with no text for 30 seconds, following a questionnaire on product attitude and buying intention. Participants in both conditions had no significant differences in buying intentions and product attitude towards the product.

The objective of this research was to replicate Hubbard and McIntosh’s 1992 study “Integrating Suicidology into Abnormal Psychology Classes: The Revised Facts on Suicide Quiz (RFOS)” with minor modifications. An updated version of the RFOS was utilized to determine the value of informative resources designed to enhance knowledge about suicide, as research on suicide-related knowledge is crucial to improving suicide awareness, treatment, and prevention. First year undergraduate students (N = 70) completed the quiz in the beginning of their Fall 2018 semester, then again at the end of their Fall 2018 semester. The purpose of our research is to understand students’ use of undergraduate psychology resources. In a national study of four universities, we evaluated seven psychology-specific resources in conjunction with student career paths. Our findings suggest that students primarily rely on faculty to get accurate information on their intended careers. Students reported student-led clubs and organizations as one of the lowest in importance to advancing student career paths. Additionally, all seven resources were average in helping students efficiently. These findings call for further research in understanding the career paths and resources available for undergraduate psychology majors to adequately support future students.

In the wake of infidelity, romantic partners must decide how to move beyond the act of betrayal. Although infidelity can be concealed, sometimes others learn of the infidelity, which may impel a cheater to take steps to repair his or her image. This study examined the use of image repair on social media (Facebook), specifically the tactic of admitting responsibility, in the wake of infidelity. In my ISP, I explored language as it relates to the ways in which people living in Cato Manor make sense of HIV/AIDS in their community. With 7.1-7.2 million people living with HIV (PLWHIV) in South Africa, individuals across the country are either infected or affected by illness. KwaZulu-Natal (KZN), the province with the highest rate of HIV, is also the province that was surveyed with the disproportionately highest internal stigma rates for PLWHIV. High prevalence of HIV, particularly in KZN, calls for a constant contextualization of life in the presence of illness.

Disparaging conversations about body shape and weight has become increasingly common among peers. Fat-talk engagement and its predictors are still unclear. The study examined women’s reactions to fat-talk versus feminist-theory inspired challenging fat-talk scenarios via experimental vignettes. Ninety-two undergraduate female students from United Arab Emirates University (UAEU) completed baseline questionnaires that assessed their levels of body dissatisfaction (Eating Disorder Inventory-2- Body Dissatisfaction subscale), fat talk engagement (Negative Body Talk Scale) and mood (Positive and Negative Affect Schedule).
