The objective of this paper was to determine how much of the Total Quality Management (TQM) principles have been adopted by the U.S. carmakers up to now which is about fifteen to twenty years after the "race to quality" started, how the position of women in that industry has evolved over the same period of time, and if more female presence at top executive positions would better promote TQM principles.

Job seekers have often made job choices based upon the degree to which they fit the tasks requirements of the job. This concept is referred to as person-job (P-J) fit. In addition, research has suggested that job seekers self-select organizations to work for based upon the perceived fit between themselves and the organization. This concept is referred to as person-organization (P-O) fit.

Genetic susceptibility testing for breast and ovarian cancer is an important new tool for assessing cancer risk, one that may facilitate early detection and reduction of cancer risk. Interest in testing among high risk women has been sizeable; however potetial demand for testing may be greatest among women for who testing is least appropriate.

Some Factors That Effect [Sic] Statistical Power In Ancova: A Population Study, Valerie Maria Tvedt

A study into the factors that affect power in an analysis of covariance (ANCOVA) design were examined. Four factors - sample size, significance level, dependent variable-covariate correlations and homogeneity of regression - were varied in a population study. Results indicate that power increased when the dependent variable-covariate correlations increased and when sample size increased. Power also increased when a less stringent alpha level was used. Homogeneity of regression did not effect power. Implications and recommendations for the applied researcher are discussed.

This study explored the cultural factors associated with early and late disclosure of HIV infection among Latino gay and bisexual males. Through collaborative efforts from various HIV/AID agencies, the researcher was able to interview twenty HIV infected Latino gay males.

Youth Aggression: The Impact Of Attachment And Passive Family Violence, Rosie Maria Mayzum, Doris Menoken Paxton

This study addresses three questions regarding the relationship of attachment to aggressive behavior in early school age children (2-6 years) who have witnessed domestic violence, and to adolescents (13-18) who have been diagnosed with Oppositional Defiant Disorder. The authors hypothesized that insecure attachment is a major cause for youth violence and that a secure attachment may lessen the negative effects of passive family violence. Data was extracted from case files; findings supported earlier attachment and domestic violence research; study limitations and social work implications were addressed.

This research project attempted to determine whether play therapy used to treat elementary and junior high school children in a School-Based Counseling program is effective. There is conflicting evidence in the literature as to the effectiveness of therapy with children, especially play therapy. This project used a qualitative design to evaluate play therapy used in a School-Base Counseling program (SBC). Randomly selected case files from the 1998-99 academic year were analyzed using questions considering demographic information for each child, the reason the child was referred to the program, the intervention used by the therapist, and the outcomes of therapy. Previous theoretical and empirical research has categorized organizational justice into two primary components, distributive and procedural justice, with procedural justice further broken down into formal and interactional justice. This research used vignettes to manipulate the presentation of these three components of organizational justice. Social desirability appeared to have an influence on the reporting of ethical decision-making.

Role Of The Dopamine D₁-Like Receptor In Amphetamine-Induced Behavioral Sensitization: A Study Using Dopamine D₁A-Receptor Deficient Mice, Patrick Eugene Karper

The ability of the indirect dopamine agonist, amphetamine, to produce behavioral sensitization was assessed in adult D₁A-deficient and wild-type mice. It was originally predicted that : 1) dopamine (DA) D₁-like receptors are necessary for the occurrence of short- and long-term amphetamine-induced behavioral sensitization, 2) DA D₁-like receptors are necessary for environmental conditioning factors associated with amphetamine-induced behavioral sensitiazation, and 3) DA D₅ receptors are required for amphetamine-induced behavioral sensitization. Locomotor activity and sterotyped sniffing were assessed in each of three experiments.
