Walster, Walster, Piliavin and Schmidt's (1973) finding that a selectively hard-to-get female was preferred over either an easy-to-get or a hard-to-get female was replicated for unfrustrated males. However, when males were mildly frustrated, they preferred females who had indicated attraction toward them. The implications of these results were discussed in terms of external rewards and the motivational state of individuals.

A fully counterbalanced extension of the Bauer and Efstathiou (1965) study involved exposing 11 Ss to lateral prismatic displacement for five minutes and measuring their adaptation to it. The difference between pointings at a target taken before and after prismatic exposure constitutes an adaptive shift.

To clarify some of the findings reported in the litera­ ture concerning the female personality and more specifically the personality of female bank managers, the Guilford­ Zimmerman Temperament Survey was administered to 33 male and 33 female bank managers and 33 male and 33 female students planning careers in business. A 3 factor ANOV showed that Ss differed significantly between samples and between sexes, but on only one personality trait; emotional stability. A t-test was performed on the scores of the masculinity trait when no significance was found on that trait with the ANOV method. This test showed a significant …

Rats were trained in 2 S^D-S^Δ discrimination experiments in which the effects of an S^D-postponement contingency during S^Δ and temporal regularity of S^Δ duration were assessed. Experiment I showed that discrimination is markedly facilitated by the presence of an S^D-postponement contingency of either fixed or variable duration. Experiment II showed that variable-duration S^Δ periods in a noncontingent schedule can also greatly enhance formation of an operant discrimination. These effects were attributed to differences in the probability of adventitious reinforcement of S^Δ behavior by S^D events.

The purpose of the study undertaken here is to determine the extent to which four biographical factors could be used to predict success in Air Force Career Counseling courses. The biographical factors are (1) age, (2) amount of education, (3) number of years in the Air Force and (4) number of years since the individual last attended school. The criteria used to measure the success are the test score results obtained in the Air Force Career Counseling Course taught at the University of Denver during 1952.
