This thesis aims to study Iran's foreign policy behaviour in the period between 1979 and 1988; with a primary emphasis on Imam Khomeini, the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran during the same period. The thesis will seek to identify Khomeini's Operational Code (a sub-domain of the belief system and an often neglected variable in foreign policy analysis) and link it to the actual foreign policy behaviour. Quantitative and qualitative content analysis techniques will be utilized to help identity and analyze Khomeini's Operational Code. There are different studies that highlight the work of international non­ governmental organizations with refugees. A large number of refugees is produced and received by developing countries. Governments in the Third World _have difficulties in assisting refugees. In the absence of a government role in Egypt, this thesis examines the role of local NGOs in assisting refugees to access their human rights in Cairo. For that purpose, 18 Egyptian NGOs, two international NGOs and the UNHCR Cairo Office were examined. Depending on the realist theory does not explain accurately the causes of the Turkish Israeli rapprochement. For instance, this theory neglects the nature of demographic and social formation of states in using this concept to explain alliances. The present study uses the Constructivist approach in studying these causes. The basic research problem of this thesis lies in the conflicting nature of the policies of the international financial system and of non-government organizations with regard to the state. Contemporary discourse in the international aid community manifests a deep mistrust of state institutions' ability to effectively manage developments reforms, but lacks the theoretical foundations and organizational methodologies that would be necessary to develop strategies to build up the state so that it might better perform its duties and minimize corruption.

This study analyzes the proposed amendments of the health insurance system in Egypt from a human rights perspective. It starts by outlining the international human rights law standards of the right to health concluding that Egypt has an obligation under international human rights treaties to which it is party to provide a public health insurance system.

The aim of the thesis is to examine if the e-governance initiative in Egypt can contribute to poverty reduction. The study utilizes people-centered indicators by employing Sen's "capability approach" where Sen shifts from the traditional understanding of poverty as derivative of insufficient resources to a new perspective which incorporates the lack of capabilities and opportunities into the definition of the term.
