The achievement and glory of Malay women of high rank have been recorded in history and has a profound impact to our society today. Great respect was shown for their charisma and capability. Women's increasing participation in politics is widely acknowledged but there is little recognition that the changes are far more comprehensive than that. Women still occupy an inferior positions in politics. Simulation Methodologies For Political Scientists, Kenneth Benoit

In this brief article I identify and characterize the variety of simulation methodologies relevant to political science research. Having identified them, I then recount a light-hearted tale of one successful application of a computer simulation to a real world problem of enormous significance. Extending the discussion to other examples, I discuss some of the main issues and benefits in simulation models for political science. Finally, I identify some software tools and additional resources for those who would like to learn more about using simulation methods for their own work.

Gender differences in political attitudes among whites arise from a variety of sources that may vary from issue to issue. Explanations based on gender-based social roles, basic value differences, socioeconomic status, and women's autonomy are tested in this study through an examination of both compositional and conditional effects. Compositional effects occur when men and women differ on an explanatory variable. Conditional effects occur when a variable has differential effects on the policy preferences of women and men. Using data from the 1996 National Election Study, OLS regression and logit results demonstrate the complex sources of gender gaps across issue areas. …

Drawing on democratic theory, this dissertation explores a thesis that the experience of ethnic restructuring significantly effects the ability of a democratizing state to successfully consolidate its emerging democracy. Ethnically restructured states, it is hypothesized, have an especially hard time creating inclusive democratic political communities, which is a necessary prerequisite for a consolidated democracy.

To test the thesis, the comparative case study method is applied to the ethnically restructured states of Latvia, Lithuania, and Estonia. The goal of the case studies is to examine the approaches that the Baltic states used to reduce polarization. The historical background to the case …
