US Government Documents Related to Indigenous Nations
This report from the United States (US) Senate Committee on Interior and Insular Affairs, dated March 9, 1956, was written to accompany Senate Bill 1528 which primarily proposed to authorize enrolled members of the Three Affiliated Tribes of Fort Berthold Reservation to acquire trust interests in the tribal land of the Fort Berthold Reservation. Many who were relocated due to the construction of the Garrison Dam did not have adequate funds to reestablish themselves in their new location. Since it is prohibited to sell the tribal lands of an organized tribe, US Senate Bill 1528 would allow for individual tribal …

The Non-Legislative Duties Of Senators, Margie Terrell
The Non-Legislative Duties Of Senators, Margie Terrell
Student Scholarship
This paper examines the extensive non-legislative responsibilities of United States Senators, highlighting that while they are primarily elected as lawmakers, a significant portion of their time is consumed by duties as constituent representatives, political actors, and social figures. The author categorizes these duties into three main areas: services for constituents, political and public relations activities, and social functions.
Constituent services represent the most time-consuming aspect of a senator’s office, involving a massive volume of correspondence known as case work. This includes handling requests regarding veterans' claims, immigration issues, government publications, and personal favors. The volume of mail has grown tremendously …

God And Caesar In Nebraska: A Study Of The Legal Relationship Of Church And State, 1854 -1954, Orville H. Zabel
University Studies (University of Nebraska) (1888–1984)
At a time when the control over the relationship of church and state seems to be shifting from the state governments to the Federal Government, it was decided to undertake a case study of the church-state problem in Nebraska. Such a study, stretching over a century, appeared to make possible a contribution to the understanding and solution of problems which have recently gained prominence and which will probably appear frequently in coming years. Any contribution, however slight, to an understanding of what constitutes the most desirable relationship of the church and the state may be of considerable value. Such a …
