A marketing class assigns student groups to crisis management cases involving companies where something went wrong. How did those companies respond to the crisis? How did they communicate with stakeholders? Where were mistakes made? While quarterly financial statements can show the financial impact of a crisis, earnings calls offer something different: insight into how companies explain, frame, and respond to those events in real time. As of 2025, there are over 1.8 million people incarcerated in the United States, but only 6% hold an associate degree or higher. Yet research shows that earning even an associate’s degree can reduce recidivism by 85%. Given the higher rate of incarcerated individuals in Southern states, higher education in prison has the power to transform lives. These programs, however, must work around restrictions set by a state’s department of corrections, which can often lead to disparities between their experience and those of students on campus. These restrictions impact research and other programs supported by academic librarians.

This was the keynote presentation at the 2026 Midwest Business Librarian Summit. The talk introduced the Partners for AI Literacy (PAL) program, which fosters partnership between instructors and students for a more collaborative, holistic response to AI in learning environments. The slides walk through the pedagogical rationale behind the program, overviews the model and conceptual framework guiding PAL, and highlights insights from past PAL cohorts. It concludes with suggestions for several ways pedagogical partnership might be applied in varying library contexts.

Systematic reviews and meta-analyses have become essential tools for synthesizing evidence to guide agricultural policy and practice, yet whether these syntheses are themselves conducted with sufficient rigor has rarely been systematically assessed. This study provides a field-wide assessment of reporting quality in agricultural evidence synthesis, examining whether existing reviews are conducted with sufficient transparency and rigor to support the policy and practice decisions they are meant to inform. We drew a random sample of 244 systematic reviews and meta-analyses from a bibliometric dataset of 1,709 articles published between 1997 and 2023, evaluating reporting quality using a 12-indicator rubric across four …

This article discusses the development and implementation of a case-based learning scenario activity intended to enhance primary source literacy among undergraduate business students. The activity was delivered in the context of a large Midwestern university’s undergraduate business course. This case is based on the ACRL RBMS-SAA Guidelines for Primary Source Literacy and gives students an opportunity to use digitized primary archival sources as part of the research process in connection with a modern business-related scenario in which they can apply primary source literacy skills. This study investigates how students learn to use information at a remote field station to prepare for roles as environmental researchers, climate advocates, and citizens. Using a semi-structured interview approach, the researchers examined the perceptions of twelve field station instructors on how their students engage with information to learn in a place-based educational context. Purpose Field station libraries, particularly those serving biological and marine research stations, represent a unique but understudied class of special libraries. This case study investigates reference services at the remote University of Michigan Biological Station (UMBS) to provide a baseline assessment of how such services support the information needs related to research in ecology, geology and environmental science.
