Der erste Hydrobiologe und Zoologe in der Mongolei, Prof. Dr. Anudarijn Dašdorž (auch engl. Dashdorj) wurde im Jahr 1918 im Somon Bayandun des Dornod Aimaks (Ost Aimak) geboren. Von 1929 bis1931 besuchte er die Grundschule in Bayandun. Um weiter zu lernen, ging er in die Hauptstadt Ulaanbaatar und besuchte in den Jahren 1931-1933 dort die Mittelschule. Ab 1933 studierte Dašdorž zwei Jahre lang am Pädagogischen Technikum in Ulaanbaatar. Im Jahr 1935 absolvierte er diese Ausbildung als Lehrer für die Naturwissenschaften. The Mongolian-German Biological Expedition worked in 2014 from 31.07 until 05.08. in the West- Mongolian National Park Tavan Bogd with the lakes Choton-nuur, Churgan-nuur and Dajan-nuur. Within this very short time were recorded the Insectivora Sorex caecutiens and Sorex tundrensis. In addition, the Chiroptera Plecotus ognevi and Myotis petax were collected. A nursery roost of Myotis petax in a tree cave (Larix sibirica) was analyzed. From the genus Clethrionomys the species C. rutilus and C. rufocanus were caught. Two Microtus species, M. gregalis and M. oeconomus were collected. The reproductive state of all caught animals was determined. …

Migration data for Mongolian bird species are relative rare in the literature. Here are summarized observations of a travel in the Transaltaigobi 25.09.–12.10.2017. There are data for 56 species, 26 Nonpasseriformes and 30 Passeriformes. Main visited localities were for few days the oasis Echijn-gol and the mountain areas of Cagaan Bogd and Tost-uul. For some species are given the latest autumn observations.

We sampled 99 plots in three locations in the West, South and East Khentey, each consisted of both pitfall traps and soil and litter sampling. We were able to establish the occurrence of ten species of Chilopoda from three genera, three families and three orders and three species of Diplopoda also from three genera, three families and three orders in the Khentey Mountain region. Am 15.06.2019 vollendete sich nach langer schwerer Krankheit der Lebenszyklus von Mathias Kiefer. Seiner Frau und seinem Sohn Daniel sind wir für wertvolle Daten aus der Vita des Verstorbenen zu großem Dank verbunden. Mathias Kiefer wurde am 25. März 1943 im slowakischen Kežmarok geboren, wo er auch seine Schulausbildung erhielt. Von 1961 bis 1966 erfolgte an der Naturwissenschaftlichen Fakultät der Comenius-Universität von Bratislava sein Biologiestudium, das er mit dem Diplom (Fachrichtung Parasitologie) abschloss.

Dezember 1930 im niederschlesischen Görlitz als einziges Kind des Kaufmanns Fritz Hanelt und seiner Ehefrau Margarete geboren. Früh wurde Peter in die Unternehmungen der Eltern im Kanusportverband und im Wanderverein einbezogen, die bald seine Begeisterung weckten. The first record of Streptopelia decaocto in Mongolia was noticed 1988 in the Dzungarian Gobi, Somon Bulgan, by the Mongolian-German Biological Expedition. In the last 30 years, this bird species has settled nearly all suitable habitats, so parks in the cities and Somon centres, river valleys and in the arid zone, the sajrs with elm trees or poplars as well as in some oases.

The genera Corvonirmus Eichler, 1944 (with 11 spp.), Hecatrishula Gustafsson & Bush, 2017 (with 8 spp.), and Lycocoranirmus Mey, 2017 (with 5 spp.), which belong to the Brueelia complex (Philopteridae s. l.), are morpho-structurally characterized mainly by head structures and chaetotaxy. They are defined as a group of related taxa that should be placed in the rank of a subfamily (Corvonirminae subfam. nov.) if the former Brueeliinae sensu EICHLER (1963:177) would get the status of a separate family (Brueeliidae).

Scholars debate the role of legal institutions in promoting human rights in Africa. Much of the discussion focuses on Anglophone countries and does not examine the gender of litigants. We propose a constitutionalism constrained perspective that argues that which and whose rights are adjudicated are shaped by the context of constitutional reform. Where reformists are primarily concerned with safeguarding civil and political rights, high courts may protect civil and political rights claims more often than socio-economic ones. In this article, we examine the link between environmental consciousnesses and time consciousness. We argue that the way people think about time shapes their experience of climate change threats. We contrast western hegemonic concepts of time—the Gregorian Calendar, the Dooms Day Clock, linear time—with the way Barbudans of Antigua and Barbuda, an island nation in the Caribbean experience time—cyclical, through boom and bust cycles. We found that this boom and bust framework was indeed supported by climate change and weather experiences on the island—hurricanes, droughts, changes in the lagoons—as well as economic experiences—cargo boat delays bringing supplies, paycheck delays. The objective of this study was to assess the awareness of rural women on breast cancer and its screening methods in Southwest Nigeria. Descriptive cross-sectional survey design with the aid of a semi-structured questionnaire was used to generate data among 422 rural women in selected communities in Egbeda local government area of Ibadan. The qualitative data was generated through in-depth interviews among rural women and key informant interviews among health workers in the communities. The study revealed that only 63.7% were aware of breast cancer screening methods compared to 31.6% who were not aware. The commonly known screening method among …

Dairy goats with improved genetics for milk production were recently introduced onto small-scale farms in Zanzibar through governmental and non-governmental projects. These projects were meant to support small-scale farmers by improving both income and household nutrition through milk production. No follow up had been conducted to understand what effects dairy goat keeping had on these small-scale farms, or how they could be improved. A survey of 193 dairy goat farmers in Zanzibar was conducted, including 30% and 60% of all dairy goat farmers on Unguja and Pemba, the two largest islands, respectively. Since 2004, close to 7,000 people have died in Thailand’s domestic insurgency in its three Muslim-majority southern provinces, one of the longest-running, low-intensity conflicts in Southeast Asia. This study assesses perceptions of human security threats in the area among a sample of students, their parents, and teachers of Islamic private schools (n = 427, n = 331, n = 51, respectively), and how they relate to perceptions of government actors and other community institutions. Questionnaire items were drawn from the World Values Survey Wave 6. Focus groups and interviews were also conducted to deepen our understanding of conflict related dynamics.

Since 2004, our research has focused precisely in those minors who ‘returned’ from the United States to Mexico. Our interest has been to know the social, geographical, educational, and symbolic trajectories of those migrant children and adolescents who are part of the contemporary move of returnees. Based on the children’s narratives (all collected before US November 2016 federal election), we now have a multifaceted response to the question: How and why are young Mexican migrants returning from the United States to Mexico? Anthropogenic disturbances may be increasing jellyfish populations globally. Epibenthic jellyfish are ideal organisms for studying this phenomenon due to their sessile lifestyle, broad geographic distribution, and prevalence in near-shore coastal environments. There are few studies, however, that have documented epibenthic jellyfish abundance and measured their impact on ecological processes in tropical ecosystems. In this study, the density and size of the upside-down jellyfish (Cassiopea spp.) were measured in Codrington Lagoon, Barbuda. This Spanish-language chapter, drawn from a larger book intended to advise Mexico's new national leadership on various issues related to migration, focuses on the steadily growing, overlapping populations of US-born and US-school-experienced children in youth now enrolled in Mexican schools. It notes that that population, numbering more than 600,000, is enrolled all across Mexico, albeit not equally distributed, with municipios (counties) with high international migration rates also hosting high return rates.
