The Victory Garden: Helping on the Homefront traveling trunk outreach project links past, present, and future by introducing students to the historical significance of World War II victory gardens and emphasizing the continued relevance today. Partnering with Kennesaw State University’s Museum of History and Holocaust Education (MHHE), the traveling trunk focuses on a fifth-grade audience, aligning with Georgia Standards of Excellence for Social Studies, Health, and Science. The traveling trunk designed as a “museum-in-a-box" includes primary sources, artifacts, and a practical gardening activity that fosters critical thinking and analysis. Consumers are rarely aware of how much work actually goes into the enjoyment of their food. It is common knowledge that restaurant owners put a lot of work into their art, we can see this in the food they put forth, but so much is missed behind the scenes in the manipulation of the consumers' senses. Flavor perception is often confused for the simplicity of taste, however, I argue flavor perception is a complex construct of multisensory interactions, intentionally placed to influence consumers' purchasing behaviors. Average Household Income In Relation To Individual Dietary Consumption Of Fruits And Vegetables, Liz Burchfield, Bella Spencer

The purpose of this analysis is to review data from the USDA Economic Research Survey in a data collection regarding FoodAPS National Household Food Acquisition and Purchase Survey. Our data include a sample size of 4,826 participating households with 279 variables describing each household. Several variables were utilized which include average collective income for households, perceptions of fruit and vegetable prices and quality, self-reporting items about perceived fruit and vegetable consumption, and financial survey responses. With these chosen variables we made initial inferences that there would be a relationship between income and fruit consumption. We predict that throughout the duration …

Student homelessness has become a widespread issue at higher education institutions. According to a 2016 survey of both four-year and community colleges, about seven percent of students experienced homelessness. Kennesaw State University (KSU) is not immune to those statistics. The first KSU homeless student was identified in the late 1980s. Since then, the number of students experiencing homelessness and food insecurity has grown every academic year. In the past three years, there has been a 98 percent increase in demand to help feed food insecure students on KSU’s two campuses.
