This paper examines and outlines the reasons needed for solidifying concrete methods in updating an operations manual for an FM radio station; in this case: KCPR. Amid a desire for increased integration with Mustang Media Group, changing media trends within the radio industry and volatility with the accuracy of guiding documents, a student at California Polytechnic State University (Cal Poly) in San Luis Obispo believed it fit to update the Operations Manual and establish further precedent in updating the operations manual. The noticeable downturn in print advertising indicates a need for change in the news industry business model. College media is not immune to this decline and need for change. Documentary filmmaking is a very useful tool for bringing an issue to public attention and pushing for political action and policy change on that issue. This form of documentary filmmaking, Filming for Change, has been employed successfully and unsuccessfully by many different filmmakers. There are a few keys to making a successful documentary when Filming for Change, and the first is to appeal to the correct demographic. Those who have the political power to influence policy will tend to be white, male, and between 35 and 64 years of age. These people do not like propaganda or a slanted film. …
