In Chicago on July 28th, 1960, Richard M. Nixon, vice-president of the United States was nominated as Republican candidate for president. This took place two weeks after the Democrats in Los Angeles chose John F. Kennedy, United States senator from Massachusetts as their candidate. The nominations of these two men marked the beginning of an historic race for office - the 1960 presidential campaign. Beginning with Mr. Kennedy’s nomination in July and continuing until election day, the campaign lasted for over sixteen weeks.

An Analysis Of The Artistic Proofs In Selected 1958 Campaign Speeches Of William F. Knowland, Ginger Ivers Vogler

The 1958 gubernatorial campaign brought an end to the active political career of William Fife Knowland who, for over a quarter of a century, had served his state of California and his nation. As a member of the California State Legislature, Knowland held the offices of State Assemblyman from 1933 to 1935 and of State Senator from 1935 to 1939. In addition to these state offices, Knowland was a member of the Republican National Committee in 1938 and was chairman of the Republican National Executive Committee from 1941 to 1942. Radio Listening And Television Viewing Habits Of Students Of Daniel Webster Junior High School And The Relationship Between Those Habits And Academic Achievement, William Mulford Hill

It was the purpose of this study (1) to investigate the radio listening and television viewing habits of seventh, eighth; and ninth-grade students at Daniel Webster Junior High School, Stockton, California, (2) to determine whether there was a relationship between grades received at school and the amount of time spent listening to the radio and/or watching television; and (3) to show whether there was any direct application of radio listening or television viewing in their academic work.
