This dissertation project delves into the processes of ideation, design, projection, and knowledge-transfer around the Presidio, an iconoclastic fortification system deployed by the Spanish Empire while projecting its colonial power toward the Transatlantic region. Based on Bruno Latour’s classic theory on the agency of networks of meanings (also known as new materialism) applied to historical cartography, my investigation examines the production of techno-military knowledge around the presidios as they were depicted through plans, maps, and manuals while mapping out border areas over North America and the Caribbean, from the 17th to the 19th centuries. Esta tesis doctoral se centra en los orígenes sociales de dos enfermedades de origen cultural en la comunidad indígena ngawbere, que ha experimentado y sigue experimentando marginalización en comparación con otros habitantes de Panamá. Los ngawbere consideran que son una sociedad separada dentro del Estado-nación de Panamá, y como principal población indígena que sobrevivió a la pacificación española en la época colonial, todavía residen en sus tierras ancestrales en el oeste del país.

Giving and caring are not just warm and fuzzy feelings; they are the bedrock of a healthy society. By understanding the neuroscience and sociology behind these behaviors, we can cultivate a world that prioritizes cooperation, compassion, and the well-being of all its members. We used the single valued neutrosophic sets (SVNSs) with the multi-criteria decision making (MCDM) method for evaluating the giving and caring impacts.
