This systematic literature review explores the challenges faced by youth aging out of the foster care system with a focus on the role of Independent Living Programs (ILP). Nationally, around 18,538 children are aging out of the foster care system. Issues that children aging out face include lack of transitional housing, limited access to education, inadequate healthcare, and an increased risk of involvement in the justice system. Challenges related to these issues can lead to instability in housing, employment, and health, further contributing to the risk of justice system involvement. Fifty percent of children do not receive care for their mental health concerns, while 95% are seen annually within primary care by age 6. Individual, cultural, and systemic barriers limit access to mental health care. Integrating mental health services into primary care has the potential to increase awareness, reduce costs, and decrease stigma. However, integrated primary care often relies on a brief and targeted intervention approach that may not be suitable for all families. Research has found that pediatric integrated behavioral health (IBH) significantly increases utilization of behavioral health services, but there are still families who are missing out. The purpose of the current study is to examine characteristics that may influence or impede utilization of an IBH referral. Phase 1 utilized survey methodology paired with electronic medical record review in a sample of 24 caregivers to pediatric patients to investigate whether parent-reported perceived stigma of accessing mental health care, barriers to accessing health care in general, and child symptom severity uniquely predicted referral utilization. Research in resilience science has revealed a “short-list” of protective factors that support positive development in contexts of risk and adversity (Masten, 2014). One such factor is hope, which includes agency thinking (i.e., the belief in one’s ability to accomplish their goals) and pathway thinking (i.e., the ability to produce attainable routes to those goals; Sparks, 2021; Synder, 1997). In families, parents with high levels of hope set intentional parenting goals and encourage their children to create goals as well; these parents also report better psychological functioning and increased ability to cope with parenting stressors (Cole & Molloy, 2023). [Method/process]The article constructs Prompts suitable for automatically generating patent claims and implements four prompting strategies: ZeroShot, Exact-Drafting, Stepwise-Claim, and Exact-Step Claim. By inputting patent specifications and technical disclosure documents into the GPT-4 model and using Prompts to guide its output, the automated generation of patent claims is achieved. Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is a common neurodevelopmental disorder characterized by difficulties with attention, behavioral regulation, and impulsivity. Traditional diagnostic methods rely on categorical subtypes, often failing to capture the substantial heterogeneity observed across children with ADHD. As a result, there is growing support for data-driven, person-centered approaches that identify naturally occurring behavioral profiles rather than relying solely on categorical subtypes.

The present study sought to replicate previously identified ADHD-related behavioral profiles using contemporary clinical measures. Alcohol and nicotine are the two most commonly consumed licit substances among pregnant individuals, and the potential consequences of prenatal exposure to each drug include a variety of neurological and behavioral alterations. These may include an increased likelihood of developing a substance use disorder (SUD) and/or cognitive impairments later in life. However, 30% of pregnant individuals who report consuming alcohol also report consuming nicotine, yet the potential consequences of combined prenatal exposure are not understood. Legacy leadership models continue to dominate universities, leadership programs, and organizational development curricula. Frameworks such as the Four Colors typology, the Competing Values Framework (CVF), the Four Frames, and related personality- or quadrant-based theories were designed during a predigital era characterized by stability, linearity, and predictable organizational boundaries. However, the contemporary reality of leadership is radically different: leaders now operate within volatile, digitalized, AI-mediated, globally entangled supply value chain ecosystems. Academic librarians do not engage with all disciplinary departments equally. Despite equal or even greater efforts, some departments are less responsive to librarian outreach. One such department is mathematics. To understand mathematics departments’ relationships with their academic librarians, three mathematics librarians created a 20-question survey that was disseminated to mathematics faculty, instructors, and instructional staff in the United States and Canada. Of the 188 survey participants, more than a third reported that they never engage with their librarians, approximately half only do so occasionally, and a mere eight percent of participants collaborated with librarians to provide information literacy instruction (IL) …

In Quebec, injured workers have access to medical assistance, wage replacement indemnities, and rehabilitation measures, with most injuries resolved easily. However, a small percentage of cases require a lengthy rehabilitation process, which is particularly complex when involving immigrants. Many individuals struggle to regulate their own consumption of food. Beginning with general theories of self-control, we review psychological factors that have been shown to influence the regulation of eating, including those related to particular personality variables, such as external eating, restrained eating, and reward sensitivity, as well as situational constraints, including normative influences, emotions, and calorie deprivation. Strategies for the self-control of eating, including reappraisal, effortful inhibition, and various automatic strategies are also reviewed, along with a discussion of the strengths and limitations of historical and contemporary psychological studies investigating food consumption. It has been argued that the incidental and arbitrary use of gender markings for inanimate concepts in language may affect the conceptualization or semantics of those inanimate concepts. The present article sought to replicate the findings of a classic paper that made this argument. Konishi used the potency dimension of the semantic differential method as an implicit measure of perceived gender. He reported that words for inanimate concepts of masculine grammatical gender were rated as higher in potency than words for the same concepts that had feminine grammatical gender. The overturning of federal abortion protections by the U.S. Supreme Court in Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health Organization has shifted abortion regulation to state legislatures. This study investigates whether impending changes in state-level abortion policies could trigger ideological migration across the country, where individuals relocate to align with states that match their political and moral beliefs. We surveyed a sample of Americans (N = 743) two weeks after the Dobbs v. Jackson decision to investigate whether pro-choice and pro-life advocates experienced a diminished sense of belonging and stronger intentions to migrate when their state's anticipated abortion policy conflicted with …

Two experiments investigated the nature of the emotional differences between figurative language and literal counterparts. The semantic differential method was used with principal component analysis as a data-driven implicit method for distinguishing emotional variables. The first experiment found that metaphoric stories were reliably different in emotionality than their literal counterparts along three different data-defined dimensions. The second experiment extended the conclusions to the evaluation of individual words used figuratively (including simile and metaphor). This study explores how individuals react to celebrities who take a political stance that contradicts and threatens their social identity. An online experiment examines these questions in the context of the Israeli war against Hamas in the wake of the October 7 terror attack. Israeli Jewish participants who were led to believe that a beloved celebrity fully embraced the Palestinian’s narrative and condemned Israel experienced more negative and less positive emotions and had a greater intention to cancel the celebrity.
