Health professionals prepare for international service to promote global health and learn from the populations they serve. Service is needed for United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) achievement. The 17 SDGs and 169 related targets aim “to create a world of safety and inclusion by promoting multisector partnerships within and between nations” (Rosa & Iro, 2019, p. 623). Assistance from colleagues, reputable resources and national and international organizations is beneficial to assist nurses and allied health professionals to prepare for global service. In order to build global health capacity and achieve the SDGs, all health care disciplines should seek to …

Customer Service Challenges In Omni-Channel Retailing—An Exploratory Study Of Vague Language In Retailer Customer Service Policies, Terence L. Holmes, Edward C. Brewer
Customer Service Challenges In Omni-Channel Retailing—An Exploratory Study Of Vague Language In Retailer Customer Service Policies, Terence L. Holmes, Edward C. Brewer
Atlantic Marketing Journal
Retailers are interacting with customers via an ever-increasing number of touchpoints. The addition of social media and mobile devices to the traditional physical and virtual retail platforms has created an evolving consumer practice of using several such "touchpoints" in the course of a single purchase (the "omni-channel”). The difficulty of providing high levels of customer service has increased with the necessity of managing multiple channels under the retailer’s control and coordinating formally or informally with touchpoints not directly within the retailer’s own operations. Multiple sources of potentially conflicting information (e.g., order fulfillment) can lead to miscommunication, and thus poor service …

Deep Sequence Labelling Model For Information Extraction In Micro Learning Service, Jiayin Lin, Zhexuan Zhou, Geng Sun, Jun Shen, David Pritchard, Tingru Cui, Dongming Xu, Li Li, Ghassan Beydoun
Faculty of Engineering and Information Sciences - Papers: Part B
Micro learning aims to assist users in making good use of smaller chunks of spare time and provides an effective online learning service. However, to provide such personalized online services on the Web, a number of information overload challenges persist. Effectively and precisely mining and extracting valuable information from massive and redundant information is a significant preprocessing procedure for personalizing online services. In this study, we propose a deep sequence labelling model for locating, extracting, and classifying key information for micro learning services. The proposed model is general and combines the advantages of different types of classical neural network. Early …

The higher education sector of Bangladesh is divided as private and public sectors in terms of the initiative of establishment. All of them are autonomous where the public universities are owned by the government and the private universities have been developed by the private sector. As the private universities produce services and sell it to the students by a comprehensive marketing effort, we can treat their services as a part of marketing. In this study, we tried to show the quality of services and the subsequent perception and satisfaction level of the stake holders regarding services are being provided by …
The Changing Reference Landscape: An Assessment Of Mann Library's Combined Service Desk, Ryan Tolnay
The Changing Reference Landscape: An Assessment Of Mann Library's Combined Service Desk, Ryan Tolnay
Upstate New York Science Librarians Conference
This project examined and assessed reference services at Albert R. Mann Library following the creation of a combined service desk. I conducted a literature review and created a survey to determine what mode of research help patrons preferred. Survey respondents were fairly evenly split between their preferences and often stated the same reasons for their preference- convenience and accessibility. Recommendations include instituting a user experience team and training all access services employees on reference techniques and library resources. This will provide patrons with more accurate answers to their questions and continue to improve library services.
A Team-Based Service Model: Mann Library, Cornell University, Erica M. Johns, Tobi Hines, Ashley Shea
A Team-Based Service Model: Mann Library, Cornell University, Erica M. Johns, Tobi Hines, Ashley Shea
Upstate New York Science Librarians Conference
Mann Library began piloting a new team-based service model in August 2019 to replace the liaison model. By separating into teams of instruction or research support and removing departmental outreach from individual librarian responsibilities, Mann librarians have been able to prioritize their functional areas of expertise that were increasing in demand and devote more time to innovative new projects. We have begun our assessment of the new model which will continue through 2020, but we are also taking an iterative approach as we implement these changes, gathering feedback from staff and course correcting as necessary.

The Politics Of Service: Affectivity, Social Relations, And The Power Of Tipping In The Restaurant Industry, Jacqueline A. Ross
Dissertations, Theses, and Capstone Projects
The #MeToo movement and the growing spotlight on sexual harassment and misconduct has increasingly brought industries and individuals into the public eye. The restaurant industry is one such industry to receive this spotlight. While most of the coverage has stemmed from celebrities, the misconduct of celebrity chefs has been paralleled by the stories of servers and their customers. The NY Times published several articles on harassment in the restaurant industry and some specifically focusing on the abuses that tipped workers face. Often these workers were women. When asked about experiences of harassment, responses were often that servers felt that they …
