Impacts Of Technology Skills On Generic Job Satisfaction, And Assessment Of Training Needs: A Case Of Pakistani Librarians, Asad Khan

Since modern librarians are urged to acquire technological skills, thus objectives of this study are; 1) to examine whether or not the acquisition of such skills affects their generic job satisfaction (GJS) and; 2) to identify the training needs. To this end, twelve research hypotheses were formulated indicating the relationship of technology skills with GJS. The findings revealed significant effects of technology functional and professional skills on GJS and accordingly, all hypotheses (H1-H12) are supported. This study investigated the combined correlational effects of motivation, emotional intelligence and human capital development on the job satisfaction of librarians in Nigerian public universities. A correlational survey research design was adopted. The study population consisted of 1,254 librarians in public university libraries in Nigeria, from which 923 were selected using simple random sampling. The research instrument used was a self-developed questionnaire. A response rate of 67.2% was achieved. Data were analysed using descriptive (percentage, mean, average mean and standard deviation) and inferential (ANOVA) statistics.
