There is no systematic process of orienting non-Hawaiian educators to Hawaiian culture, as evidenced by name mispronunciation. The purpose of this phenomenological study was to explore the experiences of individuals with traditional Hawaiian first names in a classroom environment. Critical race theory (CRT), especially the concept of microaggressions, was used as the framework for the study. Two research questions guided the study: What are the adult lived experiences with traditional Hawaiian first names encountered in academic settings during childhood? In this brief, authors Harshita Sarup and Jess Carson offer an update on enrollment in the New Hampshire Care Scholarship Program and describe the age and geographic distribution of enrolled children. Using data from the New Hampshire Department of Health and Human Services, the authors confirm that enrollment more than doubled between December 2023—just before program eligibility was expanded in January 2024—and December 2025. More than 5,800 children, two-thirds of whom are under age five, are now served through the program, reaching each county of the state. While many families experience multiple etiologies of stress during a neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) admission, unique stressors arise for certain groups that are at higher risk for disparities in infant outcomes, including Latino families. The objective of this study was to explore the experiences of Latino families regarding support received in the NICU while their infant was hospitalized to identify ways to enhance the quality of care.

The Lake Toba ecosystem is currently experiencing increasingly worsening quality degradation, so that instilling environmental awareness through ecoliteracy has become urgent in the world of education. This study aims to measure the ecoliteracy abilities of students at High School 1 Ajibata and High School 2 Balige by reviewing three main aspects: cognitive, affective, and behavioral. Abstract: This article tells the story of an interdisciplinary hackathon emphasizing exploration, collaboration, and creative engagement with globalization-related cultural datasets. Participants worked in teams to produce research posters, which were then presented at the opening of the international conference Image Deluge & Globalization in Geneva. The article discusses three projects: one on 19th-century Spanish chapbooks using topic modeling and network analysis; another on leopard motifs in print imagery; and a third on olfactory heritage. The hackathon highlighted both the potential and the limitations of working with digital cultural data, offering insights into interdisciplinary methods.

Abstract: This article examines how the notion of “circulation” structures institutional discourse in contemporary art exhibitions focused on digital photography. Drawing on curatorial texts, mediation materials, and interviews from four shows, it uses discourse analysis to show how circulation operates as both a symbolic framework and an organizational logic. While it helps articulate tensions in the global art field, it also neutralizes critique by reaffirming artistic centrality and marginalizing audiences. The study questions whether circulation illuminates or obscures the very power relations it names.

Abstract: This paper examines the U.S. dollar as a global brand and mythic icon, revealing how its stable aesthetic asserts dominance and infiltrates daily life. Through visual analysis and global comparison, it shows how banknotes are battlegrounds where art, identity, and geopolitics collide—currency as a weapon of soft power and cultural hegemony. The dollar’s visual inertia—ritualized, repeated, reappropriated—cements its supremacy as a symbolic force, where repetition enforces authority and variation sparks both resistance and conformity. Banknotes emerge as tools of statecraft and vessels of collective memory, as reflected in the author’s bespoke creation accompanying this study.

This article examines how food insecurity and limited access to nutritionally adequate foods impair cognitive function, emotional regulation, decision-making, and impulse control. Emerging research purports that individuals experiencing food insecurity face increased risks of mental and physical health problems, violent behavior, delinquency, heightened childhood vulnerability, and criminal justice involvement across the lifespan. The article advocates for increased awareness, routine screening, and specialized training for professionals in mental health, social services, and the criminal justice system to address food insecurity, thereby supporting long-term policy and community-level strategies that reduce criminal behavior and improve outcomes for vulnerable populations.

Migration is shaped by a complex interplay of political, economic, and social factors that drive individuals to seek stability and better prospects abroad. Since the 1979 Islamic Revolution, Iran has experienced significant emigration of its highly educated population, driven by political instability, economic challenges, and restrictive societal norms. This study explores how U.S. immigration policies affect the health and well-being of highly educated Iranian immigrants, with particular attention given to the impact of nationality-based restrictions on psychosocial outcomes. Industrial and organizational (I-O) psychology recognizes dozens of different constructs, including several individual differences, environmental variables, job attitudes, and work-related behaviors. It is, of course, necessary to retain a variety of constructs in order to adequately capture the complexities, subtleties, and diversity of work-related phenomena. But do the many constructs recognized by I-O psychologists all serve a useful purpose? Or has our field been too eager to welcome redundant, unnecessary constructs into the fold? Archival internships guided by the Rayfield Archives offer opportunities for future archivists, public historians, and other memory workers to gain hands-on experience working with historical records and their communities. Along with archival processing, exhibit curation, and metadata, interns can also learn to create authoritative Wikipedia entries for underrepresented members of the ISU community. From its early, grant-funded stages in 2020 to its current iteration as an interactive, guided project, the Wikipedia internship at the Rayfield Archives prepares students for inclusive practice in memory work in the classroom and the field.

The experiences of parenting a child with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) have been widely studied in Western contexts. Still, limited research has explored how sociocultural factors shape these experiences in India. This qualitative study aims to address this gap by exploring and comparing the lived experiences of mothers and fathers raising a child with ASD in Kerala, India. A Policy Reversal As Structural Break: A Lesson From China’S Land Lease Financing For Infrastructure, Yilin Hou, Lin Li, Lei Shao

Land-based revenues as a fiscal instrument to finance infrastructure tie public investment to real estate markets, where demand fluctuations cause fiscal consequences. This paper takes policy reversals as structural breaks and examines their impacts on infrastructure investment. We dissect China’s 2016 policy reversal that disallowed developers to finance land purchase with debt, causing sharp declines in local government land revenues, slashing their fiscal base for infrastructure investment. Using prefecture-level panel data and continuous difference-in-differences identification, we estimate the reversal reduced land-lease revenues by 55%. Two-stage least squares estimates suggest a 10% land-revenue decline translates into 6.6% investment reduction. Decomposing the …

One quarter of workers in the United States make $35,000 or less, and nearly half of these are between 35 and 64 years old. Forty percent are caring for children in the home. As temporary and gig working arrangements become increasingly common, this brief explores the stability of work and income for low-wage workers. The analyses draw upon data from the Workforce Economic Inclusion and Mobility survey administered to a nationally representative sample of U.S. workers earning less than 250% of the federal poverty line. The findings from this work have direct implications for employment practices and labor policies.

Radiologic technology students' academic workload intensified with digital and non-digital activities, requiring stronger internet connectivity amid barriers like stress and burnout. Latine individuals in the United States face distinct mental health challenges due to unique stressors, including systemic racism and discrimination. While research has established that racial microaggressions—such as daily slights, insults, and invalidations—negatively impact the psychological well-being of people of color, there remains limited scholarship specifically focused on Latine communities. This study examines different types of racial microaggressions—such as invisibility, criminality, and sexualization—as predictors of psychological distress among Latine individuals. Racial trauma distress is when post-traumatic stress disorder symptoms occur due to repeated and cumulative experiences of racism and can negatively impact Black, Indigenous, and people of color (BIPOC). Consensus in research findings strongly suggests that BIPOC students are more likely to experience racism on university campuses than non-BIPOC students. To mitigate some of these negative outcomes, existing research has shown that psychological safety, resilience, and intraminority solidarity are protective factors for BIPOC students experiencing race-related distress. The scope of practice for Advanced Practice Registered Nurses (APRNs) is a critical issue in healthcare policy, influenced by both demand for healthcare services and legislative action. This paper examines the impact of nurse union size on a state having full practice authority for nurse practitioners across the United States. Utilizing data from the Nurse Unionization Data Tool and controlling for several variables (right-to-work laws, physicians per capita, and personal healthcare expenditures per capita), this study employs multivariate logistic regression to analyze the relationship between the proportion of unionized nurses and the extent of practice authority granted by state laws. …

Background: Extensive research has identified muscles that are particularly susceptible to emotional stimuli, namely the facial muscles, trapezius, and diaphragm. These muscles can respond to emotional stimuli by affecting the viscoelastic properties of muscles, especially stiffness. This study attempts to identify suggestions in evidence-based physiotherapy (EBP) for treating muscles that are particularly susceptible to emotions. Materials and methods: In order to achieve the goals, studies available in PubMed, PEDro, and Elsevier and Springer databases were analyzed.
