Boosting Three Dog Bakery’S Social Media Presence Through Short-Form Vertical Videos, Mary Litz

This professional project explores how consistent, short-form vertical video content can enhance the social media performance of Three Dog Bakery, a boutique pet store in Columbus, Georgia. As the bakery’s social media manager, I implemented a one-month video campaign using storytelling-based, behind-the-scenes videos featuring the owner and the baking process. Drawing on transformational message strategy and best practices in social media marketing, the campaign aimed to increase reach, views, engagement, and viewer retention on Instagram.

Throughout the campaign, six videos were posted and various strategies were tested, including optimal posting times, video lengths, and hooks. Results showed a 45.4% increase …

This qualitative study investigated advancement staff perspectives on how donor communication impacts philanthropic giving at higher education institutions. The purpose of this study was to identify the communication practices that are most influential for philanthropic donor giving. While prior research has examined university marketing efforts, why alumni give back, and how affinity for a university compels donors to give, there is a research gap in how strategic communication impacts donor behavior at public universities. Teen pregnancy remains a persistent public health concern in the United States, with rural regions experiencing disproportionately higher rates compared to urban areas. This study examines adolescent pregnancy in six rural Georgia counties between 20125 and 2024 using the framework of social reproduction to understand how structural, socioeconomic, and cultural forces shape reproductive outcomes. Despite national declines in teen birth rates, rural regions of Georgia continue to exhibit elevated rates due to entrenched inequalities, limited access to comprehensive reproductive health services, and inconsistent sed education policies. Two experiments investigated proactive facilitation (PF) or interference (PI) in the recall of recently learned targets, under conditions of assessing the detection and recollection of target changes across two learning phases (with A-B/A-D word pairs). Some changes established meaningful connections across the phases; others did not. Task instructions on the subsequent cued-recall test (Experiment 1) or during Phase-2 study (Experiment 2) guided participants (university students) to monitor and report the changes. Accuracy in cued recall conditionalized on measures of change awareness replicated previous findings in establishing conditions for PF and PI. However, PF was much reduced for unconnected materials. This thesis contributes to our understanding of the determinants of remote work and the factors affecting how far an individual lives from the workplace in the post-pandemic period.

The legalization of online sports gambling has rapidly expanded access to gambling platforms, raising concerns about its potential impacts on gambling behavior and addiction. This study investigates whether early wins in online sports gambling predict sustained gambling engagement. Using longitudinal data from 46,339 subscribers to online gambling site bwin Entertainment, we analyzed the gambling activity of new sports bettors over 18 months. Gamblers were categorized based on early outcomes (losses, break-even, small wins, and big wins), and engagement was measured by total bets placed, total gambling days, total stakes after the first three days, and frequency of play. This thesis examines the impact of Medicaid expansion status on labor market outcomes, healthcare access, and health outcomes during COVID-19. Using data from the CDC’s Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System and a Difference-in-Differences (DiD) model, I estimate the effects of Medicaid expansion on unemployment, financial barriers to care, obesity, and poor health before and after the pandemic. The analysis also accounts for state-level political and demographic characteristics, gender, marital status, and education level. This thesis examines the dangers of deepfakes to democratic stability, emphasizing their capacity to pollute our information ecosystem and undermine trust in media. Beyond the immediate political harms from deepfake incidents, deepfakes are troubling for their impact on our collective relationship to media, truth, and one another. This thesis examines the effect of discriminatory housing policy on current asthma rates in California cities. This study uses boundary design and propensity score methodologies to analyze asthma-related emergency department visits in census tracts with corresponding appraisal grades from the Home Owners’ Loan Corporation maps. The results indicate significantly higher asthma burdens in grade D (redlined) census tracts compared to grade C tracts, even when controlling for present-day pollution concentrations, with historically redlined tracts experiencing an average of 26.88 additional emergency department visits per 10,000 residents. This thesis will aim to understand the economic impact of removing access to abortion by comparing economic outcomes in states that banned abortion with those that did not ban abortion following the Dobbs V. Jackson Supreme Court decision. By using data from the Consumer Population Survey, I created a model to estimate the impact of banning abortion on metrics such as unemployment rate and labor force participation rate. My model indicated that banning abortion in these states did have a statistically significant impact on female economic outcomes, indicating that banning abortion decreased female labor force participation rate and increased the …

However, changes and variations in the intensity of strategic ambiguity have come to the fore in recent years, specifically beginning under the first Trump Administration. Institutional investors started using bank deposits as a Leading Economic Indicator to predict stock market returns. I find that bank deposits lead stock market returns by 2 weeks at the national level. Examining the mechanism through which bank deposits affect stock market returns, existing literature postulates the Bank Deposit Lending Channel: increased bank deposits increase financial liquidity, powering and leading stock market returns. I do not find evidence for the Bank Deposit Lending Channel. In my regional analysis, I find that bank deposit behavior differs drastically between US regions. This paper examines the impact of United States foreign aid on civil violence in recipient countries, specifically investigating the interaction between aid implementation channels—bilateral aid, implemented directly by recipient governments, vs. multilateral aid, implemented through Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) or other multilateral partners—and governance quality. Using a panel dataset covering 49 countries from 1996 to 2022, the study measures the effect of aid on violence through conflict-related fatalities normalized by population. By 2023, India led global real-time payments, processing 129 billion transactions. Using data from the Reserve Bank of India across 30 states and union territories, this study examines the factors driving UPI’s growth. We analyze panel data from 2018 to 2021, incorporating variables related to financial literacy, infrastructure, economic indicators, and demographics. This paper analyzes the cross-sectional differences of how unexpected inflation affects industry returns, controlling for market factors and firm characteristics. The methodology builds upon Bernard (1986) in trying to explain and detect differing cross-sectional effects by industry, but instead considers daily reactions to the release of monthly CPI figures. My hypothesis was that higher unexpected inflation would have a negative effect on industry returns but when controlling for market factors and firm characteristics the reactions would be dampened.
