A significant number of teaching resources and materials fail to account for important viewpoints and identities. These viewpoints and identities may then become misrepresented, excluded from the classroom, or ignored by the instructor. Generative AI tools such as ChatGPT have potential as student research tools, yet they generally do not cite sources or may invent them, presenting a challenge of information disconnected from any source. This presentation applied pieces of the Association of College and Research Libraries’ Framework for Information Literacy to analyze this challenge and suggest opportunities to use discussions around the use of generative AI to make students more reflective researchers and consumers of information.

Bølstad and Dinas (2017) propose a model of spatial voting, based on social identity theory, that suggests supporting a candidate/policy on the other side of the ideological spectrum has a disutility that is not accounted for by common spatial models. Unfortunately, the data they use cannot speak directly to whether the disutility arises because individuals perceive their ideology as a social identity. We present the results of an experimental study that measures the norm against crossing the ideological spectrum; tests the cost of doing so, controlling for spatial effects; and demonstrates that this cost increases with the salience and strength …

This article makes the case that the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are a useful framework for integrating sustainability into leadership education and development broadly and can advance these needed skill sets and learning orientations. Through a free-to-read (F2R) model these platforms offer access to thousands of online prose narratives. Instead of requiring money upfront for access, they have found a way to monetize narrative through ad-supported serialization and paywalls. BACKGROUND: Suboptimal rest-activity patterns in adolescence are associated with worse health outcomes in adulthood. Understanding sociodemographic factors associated with rest-activity rhythms may help identify subgroups who may benefit from interventions. This study aimed to investigate the association of rest-activity rhythm with demographic and socioeconomic characteristics in adolescents.

METHODS: Using cross-sectional data from the nationally representative National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) 2011-2014 adolescents (N = 1814), this study derived rest-activity profiles from 7-day 24-hour accelerometer data using functional principal component analysis. With the recent push to implement bail reform in various U.S. cities and states, the impact of such reform was studied using aggravated assault arrest statistics for Philadelphia, a city that implemented bail reform via prosecutorial discretion, and for Pittsburgh, which had not implemented bail reform. Using the time period of January 2017 through December 2019, a quantitative analysis was completed on aggravated assault arrest counts in both cities to ascertain whether the removal of bail as a deterrent caused aggravated assault arrests to increase. This phenomenological study explored the impacts of religious/spiritual abuse (RSA) on women abused by Christian religious leaders in their adulthood, describing their treatment experiences and identifying effective elements of their healing processes. Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a mental health disorder for which the cause is unknown and for which there is no cure. This only exacerbates the psychological distress placed on caregivers of children diagnosed with ASD. The purpose of this qualitative study, using the phenomenological approach was to describe the services and assistance that caregivers of children diagnosed with ASD identified as most beneficial to them. The purpose of this instrumental case study was to explore how non-financial branch managers at US mortgage companies processed the decoding of internal strategic financial communication (ISFC) when the message was encoded by the language of numbers (LON). The LON includes Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). A non-financial branch manager is an individual who manages a mortgage company branch office and may not possess LON decoding proficiency. Forgiveness is a phenomenon often talked about in research and healing modalities. This study utilized a qualitative interview approach to explore how adult survivors of interpersonal trauma in childhood think about and integrate forgiveness into their healing journey. This phenomenological study aims to understand the shared experience of employees who work directly with rescued sex-trafficked women at anti-trafficking agencies in the United States. Chapter One details the theoretical contexts, including Maslow’s (1954) hierarchy of needs, Maslach’s (1982) cost of caring: burnout, McCann and Pearlman’s (1990) construct of vicarious traumatization, Rotter’s (1954) social learning theory as it relates to the impact of working with severely traumatized people.
