Submerged items are often thought to lack evidentiary value. However, previous studies have shown the ability to recover DNA from submerged porous items for upwards of six weeks. The crevices or interweaving fibers in porous items are thought to protect DNA from being washed away. It is hypothesized that, because non-porous surfaces do not have the same traits that might aid in DNA retention, then DNA quantities and the number of donor alleles recovered would decrease over longer submersion periods. Delivering customer services through video communications has brought new opportunities to analyze customer satisfaction for quality management. However, due to the lack of reliable self-reported responses, service providers are troubled by the inadequate estimation of customer services and the tedious investigation into multimodal video recordings. We introduce , a visual analytics system to evaluate customer satisfaction by summarizing multimodal behavioral features in customer service videos and revealing abnormal operations in the service process. Purpose

Cultural responsivity is essential for efficacious and affirming clinical relationships. This may be especially important with historically marginalized clients, such as transgender and gender-diverse (TGD) people seeking behaviorally based affirming communication services. We recommend modifications to standard tools for diagnostics and training that otherwise might undermine our efforts to create an inclusive and affirming environment.

Method

Modifications to the Rainbow Passage, a standardized paragraph utilized for eliciting speech samples in clinical settings, focused on nongendered terminology and the elimination of content with religious connotations.

Background Child temperament styles characterized by increased emotionality or pleasure seeking may increase risk for less healthful eating patterns, while strong executive control (EC) may be protective. The interaction of these characteristics with longitudinal outcomes has not yet been examined.

Purpose The aim of this study was to examine the association of preschool temperament and EC, as well as their interaction with adolescent eating.

Hesitance toward COVID-19 vaccination has greatly decreased over the course of the pandemic in the U.S. However, some populations have lower vaccination rates than the general population. This study was conducted to identify correlates of being fully vaccinated (i.e., having received all doses required to be fully vaccinated) among college students using students’ responses to the 2022 Spring American College Health Association—National College Health Assessment. Sexual objectification (i.e., reducing a person to their appearance, body, or sex appeal and functions) is a significant risk factor for negative health outcomes. In the present investigation, we examined multiple manifestations of objectification (i.e., objectification of others, objectification of self, and objectification by others) in an interpersonal context. We merged objectification theory with attachment theory, one of the most prominent theories of close relationships, and propose that sexual objectification can shed light on attachment processes (and vice versa). Background: The role of alcohol expectancies and evaluations (i.e., perceived outcomes of drinking and whether these outcomes are desirable) in alcohol-related intimate partner aggression (IPA) has been debated, with some researchers arguing that expectancies fully account for the alcohol-IPA relationship and others suggesting they play a minimal if any role in alcohol-related IPA. In four of Charles Darwin’s classic works (Darwin, 1859, 1868, 1871, 1872), the domestic dog (Canis familiaris or Canis lupus familiaris)¹ featured prominently, offering key examples to illustrate his ideas about evolution, domestication, comparative behavior and cognition, and emotional expression. Darwin held a clear fondness for dogs, and when replying to letters detailing the “sagacity” of dogs, he remarked “I can believe almost anything about them” (Darwin, 2014). Young adult women report high condom use intentions, but inconsistent condom use. Cognitive appraisals during sexual encounters are important determinants of condom use decisions, but a nuanced understanding of what cognitions emerge during women’s “hot states” (e.g., sexual arousal, alcohol intoxication) remains lacking. To address this gap, we examined women’s heat of the moment cognitions in their own words using mixed methods. Current welfare programs, aiming to mitigate child poverty, often fall short given the deep nexus of poverty and child maltreatment. This paper probes the intricate ties between child poverty and welfare, emphasizing state legislative variances, inherent system paradoxes, and potential policy enhancements. Exploring historical contexts, existing societal frameworks, and future reforms, this research emphasizes the urgency for all-encompassing solutions. The police eventually removed the protestors (including Greta Thunberg), many of whom were charged with committing criminal offenses. Whether it's pity or patronization female lawyers have often been criticized. They're visualized on the lower level of the patriarchal hierarchy system in the Hollywood courtroom. However, women that hold emotional intelligence don't need pity. Emotional intelligence encompasses how to set boundaries, stay motivated, hold healthy relationships inside and outside the courtroom, as well as maintain self-regulation. Established in County Down, Northern Ireland in the early 1970s, All Children Together was an organization comprised of both Protestant and Catholic parents who wished to see children from both denominations interact and be educated alongside one another. In 1981, the organization successfully established Lagan College, Northern Ireland’s very first school with a shared curriculum designed to accommodate children from both denominations. This work situates the organization within the greater context of the Troubles and examines the extent to which school integration played a role in Northern Irish community relations during a period of political and social upheaval.

This chapter proposes a novel theoretical framework, Social Information Cultural Competency (SICC), that may be used for designing contextualized information literacy efforts. The SICC approach leverages the frameworks of social informatics, cultural competency, and psychosocial understandings of information behavior to encourage information professionals to develop more nuanced understandings of specific social information cultures. After defining this approach, the chapter then applies the SICC framework to a case study considering information literacy interventions addressing a social information culture engaged in sharing COVID-19 misinformation through social media. Introduction. This multi-year, mixed-methods study compares (a) the reasons administrators and librarians of academic libraries invest in assistive technology for delivering information services to students with disabilities, with (b) the benefits that influence these students’ intention to use AT.

Method. In the first phase, 50 library administrators and 22 librarians from 186 public universities across the US shared their top-three reasons for investing in assistive technology through a qualitative survey. In the second phase, 322 students with disabilities from the same institutions completed a quantitative survey, in which respondents shared individual-level benefits that influence their intention to use assistive technology. …

Library and information science (LIS) graduates are expected to serve patrons from diverse backgrounds, including disabled patrons. While serving patrons with disabilities is a core value of librarianship, graduates often feel unprepared to serve disabled patrons, suggesting that programs inadequately train students to design accessible services. This study’s authors analyzed hundreds of course descriptions and 73 syllabi from 20 North American LIS programs to determine how often accessibility and disability topics are covered and how educators teach accessibility. Findings indicate that accessibility and disability topics are mostly covered in electives, meaning students may never develop accessibility competencies during their programs. …

The research aims to gain specific insight into family lawyers’ understanding and consideration of coercive control—a term encompassing gender-based, psychologically abusive and controlling behaviors—when representing clients in divorce and parental rights and responsibilities cases. This movement, termed science denialism, has been lurking and undermining public health efforts for decades. Article 281 states that workers must be put on a probationary period for 6 months of employment before receiving benefits. ENDO-contracting is the situation where corporations hire workers on 5 to 6-month contracts to avoid paying their workers benefits. This research will be conducted using qualitative data from past research publications, court cases, and interviewing anti-ENDO advocates. The historical summary will explain the origins of this law and how it has progressed into common labor practice. In short, this China-led institutional arrangement aims to build regionalism and regionalization among the riparian countries. This dissertation uses a constructivist framing theory and qualitative research methods to conduct the research. การวิจัยครั้งนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อสำรวจหนังสือหายากในคอลเล็กชันหนังสือส่วนตัวของพระยาอนุมานราชธนภายในหอสมุดแห่งชาติด้านจำนวนตัวเล่ม ข้อมูลทางบรรณานุกรม ลักษณะทางกายภาพ และประวัติการครอบครอง รวมทั้งลักษณะสภาพการชำรุดวิธีการวิจัยเป็นการวิจัยเชิงสำรวจ ใช้วิธีวิจัย 2 วิธีในการเก็บข้อมูล ได้แก่ การสัมภาษณ์เบื้องต้น (Preliminary interview) เพื่อให้ทราบข้อมูลที่เกี่ยวข้องกับห้องสมุดอนุมานราชธนในช่วงเวลาที่ผ่านมา จากนั้นจึงดำเนินการสำรวจ ซึ่งผู้วิจัยแบ่งขั้นตอนการสำรวจออกเป็น 2 ครั้ง ได้แก่ การสำรวจเบื้องต้น (Pilot survey) และการสำรวจแบบเต็มรูปแบบ (Full survey) โดยใช้แบบฟอร์มการบันทึกข้อมูลเป็นเครื่องมือวิจัยในการเก็บรวบรวมข้อมูลเกี่ยวกับคอลเล็กชันหนังสือส่วนตัวของพระยาอนุมานราชธนผลการวิจัยพบว่า จำนวนตัวเล่มของหนังสือหายากในคอลเล็กชันหนังสือส่วนตัวของพระยาอนุมานราชธนมีจำนวน 1,226 เล่ม โดยมีจำนวนหนังสือที่ไม่เคยลงรายการบรรณานุกรมในฐานข้อมูลห้องสมุดอัตโนมัติ Aleph จำนวน 215 เล่ม มีลักษณะทางกายภาพส่วนมากไม่มีภาพประกอบหน้าปก และภาพประกอบในเล่มเป็นภาพชีวประวัติบุคคล จำนวนหน้าที่พบโดยส่วนมากคือ 100 หน้าขึ้นไป และขนาดหนังสือเมื่อวัดตามความยาวที่พบมากที่สุด คือ 23 เซนติเมตร ส่วนขนาดที่เหมาะสมของกระดาษไร้กรดต่อขนาดหนังสือ คือ A4 (23*29.2) ส่วนประวัติการครอบครองที่พบสามารถแบ่งออกเป็น 2 ประเภท คือ การแสดงความครอบครองโดยบุคคล และการแสดงความเป็นเจ้าของหรือกรรมสิทธิ์โดยห้องสมุด โดยลักษณะการแสดงความครอบครองโดยบุคคลที่พบมากที่สุดคือ หนังสือฉบับที่ผู้แต่งหรือเจ้าของเดิมลงชื่อกำกับไว้ และลักษณะการแสดงความเป็นเจ้าของหรือกรรมสิทธิ์โดยห้องสมุดที่พบมากที่สุด คือ การประทับตราที่หน้าหลังปกใน และเป็นลักษณะตราประทับแบบที่ต้องกรอกข้อความ สำหรับลักษณะการชำรุดที่พบมากที่สุดของคอลเล็กชันนี้ คือ มีร่องรอยการกัดกินของสัตว์และแมลง
