Mixed human deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) samples present one of the most challenging pieces of evidence that a forensic analyst can encounter. When multiple contributors, stochastic amplification, and allele drop-out further complicate the mixture profile, interpretation by hand becomes unreliable and statistical analysis problematic. Probabilistic genotyping software has provided a tool to address complex mixture interpretation and provide likelihood ratios for defined sets of propositions. The MaSTR™ software is a fully continuous probabilistic system that considers a wide range of STR profile data to provide likelihood ratios on DNA mixtures. Background: Intimate partner violence (IPV) has serious consequences, particularly during high-risk periods such as pregnancy, which poses a significant risk to maternal mental health. However, it is unclear whether IPV presents a broad risk for psychopathology or is specific to distinct diagnoses or symptom dimensions (e.g., panic, social anxiety). Further, the relative impact of physical versus psychological aggression remains unclear. Methods: One hundred and fifty-nine pregnant couples completed surveys assessing psychological and physical intimate partner aggression unfolding in the couple relationship, as well as a range of internalizing symptoms. Objective: The purpose of the present study was to investigate perceived difficulties in affective communication as a key mechanism linking attachment anxiety and avoidance during pregnancy to the quality of postpartum support received by partners.

Background: During the postpartum period, partner support has the potential to promote family well-being by mitigating stress related to changes experienced during this transition. Attachment security is one of the most robust predictors of intimate relationship processes and impacts partner communication and support dynamics.

At this point in the history of the science of behavior, a focus on neuroscience-based outcomes has become dominant in neuropsychiatric fields at the preclinical and clinical levels of analysis. The notion that behavior is caused by brain function, and that changing brain function can alter behavior, has fueled this push to understand these neurobiological mechanisms. Within this conceptual framework and the funding to incentivize its adoption, the neuroscience field grew rapidly with the goal to understand the relation between the brain and behavior. Social group identity plays a central role in political polarization and inter-party conflict. Here, we use ambiguously valenced faces to measure bias in the processing of political ingroup and outgroup faces, while also accounting for interparty differences in judgments of emotion at baseline. Participants identifying as Democrats and Republicans judged happy, angry, and surprised faces as positive or negative. Whereas happy and angry faces convey positive and negative valence respectively, surprised faces are ambiguous in that they readily convey positive and negative valence. Understanding individuals’ preferences for how to resolve conflict—specifically legal disputes—has long interested researchers, particularly those considering procedural justice. This study considers the impact of relational factors that influence individuals’ preferences for dispute resolution processes for civil legal issues. Specifically, it examines the impact of self-construal and the relationship between the parties in conflict on preferences for specific features of dispute resolution processes and considers the role of underlying resolution goals as potential mediators in a parallel mediation model. Objective: The objective of the current study was to examine associations between daily subjective stress and relationship satisfaction as a function of two protective factors—partner support and connection (i.e., intimacy, passion, and commitment)—among couples during pregnancy. Risk for unwanted sexual experiences can emerge in social contexts—the same contexts that early college women navigate with their friends. Though friends naturally engage in prevention strategies, less is known about how capable guardianship influences risk. Using multilevel structural equation modeling, the present study examined guardianship at the person and situation levels. First-year college women (N = 132) completed eight weekends of daily surveys. We examined whether guardianship (e.g., more friends present, greater proportion of female friends, no intoxicated friends) would reduce unwanted sexual experience risk and if this relation was mediated by friends-based strategy use. This Article examines the decades-long decline of investor protections enshrined in the Securities Act of 1933, most notably Section 11, which imposes near strict liability on corporate insiders and certain secondary actors, primarily underwriters. The provision, the most potent in the federal securities regulatory arsenal, popularized the concept of outside gatekeepers and transformed practices in securities offerings, making due diligence a byword for careful investigation of facts whether required by legal process or otherwise. When it comes to the Supreme Court’s criminal jurisprudence and its relationship to racial (in)equity, progressive scholars often focus on the tartness of the lemons. In particular, they have studied how the Court often ignores race in its criminal decisions, a move that in turn reifies a racially subordinating criminalization system.

While many researchers examined several harmful consequences of the imposed or forced sexualization of women, still little is known about voluntary self-sexualization and its potential effects on women who engage in the practice. Although the idea that self-sexualization is self-fulfilling remains contentious, women who self-sexualize are naturally expected to receive sexualized attention, including unwanted attention. With marijuana use being at an all-time high, it is important to further analyze the factors associated with use. Utilizing the 2015-2019 National Survey on Drug Use and Health (N=205,083), the current study assesses marijuana use among LGB adults, as well as possible mediating (health-related measures) and moderating (criminal legal system exposure) factors. Findings using a chi-square analysis showed that overall, bisexual and lesbian/gay adults were more likely to use marijuana, while those who reported "not sure" were less likely to use. We have only a partial understanding of how people remember nonverbal information such as melodies. Although once learned, melodies can be retained well over long periods of time, remembering newly presented melodies is on average quite difficult. People vary considerably, however, in their level of success in both memory situations. Here, we examine a skill we anticipated would be correlated with memory for melodies: the ability to accurately reproduce pitches. Such a correlation would constitute evidence that melodic memory involves at least covert sensorimotor codes. One way to initiate a conversation for the purposes of mate attraction is to use a pickup line. While past research has addressed men’s use of pick-up lines, there has been far less research on those used by women. Here, we explored the perceived effectiveness of women’s pick-up lines, particularly with regard to one’s age but also as correlated with their Big Five personality factors. We hypothesized that both men and women would rate the same pick-up lines as effective and that older participants would rate pick-up lines as more effective than younger participants. We analyzed the responses of 448 participants who completed questions on attractiveness and other evolutionary fitness related traits, and long- and short-term mating potential, of a woman in either high heeled or flat shoes. We hypothesized that the woman in high heels would be rated as more attractive and evolutionarily fit by both men and women, and preferred for short-term mating by men. The hypothesis was partially supported. The woman in high heels was perceived as being more sexually attractive, physically attractive, feminine, and of a higher status. Resistance to the idea that non-human animals are sentient resembles erstwhile resistance to the theory that the earth is not the centre of the universe, or that humans evolved from “apes”. All these notions are psychologically threatening. They can remind people of their own creatureliness and mortality and might make them feel guilty or uncertain about their way of life. An honest debate over animal sentience, welfare and rights should consider the human motivation to deprive animals of these things in the first place. I briefly review empirical evidence on the psychological function of denying animal minds.

การศึกษาในครั้งนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาผลกระทบของการเปิดเผยข้อมูลด้านสิ่งแวดล้อม สังคม และบรรษัทภิบาล ที่มีต่อมูลค่าบริษัท อัตราผลตอบแทนจากสินทรัพย์รวม อัตราผลตอบแทนต่อส่วนของผู้ถือหุ้น และต้นทุนเงินทุนถัวเฉลี่ยถ่วงน้ำหนักของบริษัทที่จดทะเบียนในตลาดหลักทรัพย์แห่งประเทศไทย โดยเก็บข้อมูลจากงบการเงินของบริษัทในดัชนี SET 100 ระหว่างปี พ.ศ. 2558 – 2562 รวมจำนวนทั้งสิ้น 240 กลุ่มตัวอย่าง ประกอบด้วยชุดข้อมูลของ 48 บริษัทจำนวน 5 ปี ใช้การวิเคราะห์สถิติเชิงพรรณนาและสถิติเชิงอนุมานในการวิเคราะห์ข้อมูล ผลการศึกษาพบว่า การเปิดเผยข้อมูลด้านสิ่งแวดล้อม สังคม และบรรษัทภิบาลที่เพิ่มขึ้นส่งผลกระทบให้มูลค่าบริษัทและอัตราผลตอบแทนจากสินทรัพย์รวมมีค่าเพิ่มขึ้น นอกจากนี้ยังพบว่าการเปิดเผยข้อมูลด้านสิ่งแวดล้อม สังคม และบรรษัทภิบาลที่เพิ่มขึ้น ทั้งภาพรวมและแต่ละองค์ประกอบยังส่งผลกระทบให้ต้นทุนเงินทุนถัวเฉลี่ยถ่วงน้ำหนักของบริษัทลดลง ดังนั้นผลการศึกษาในครั้งนี้จึงเป็นการสนับสนุนให้บริษัทมีการเปิดเผยข้อมูลด้านสิ่งแวดล้อม สังคม และบรรษัทภิบาลมากขึ้น เนื่องจากบริษัทที่เปิดเผยข้อมูลมักถูกมองว่ามีความรับผิดชอบต่อสังคมและสิ่งแวดล้อม ช่วยเสริมภาพลักษณ์ให้แก่บริษัทและดึงดดูนักลงทุนได้ ยิ่งไปกว่านั้น การเปิดเผยข้อมูลยังส่งผลให้บริษัทมีความเสี่ยงที่ลดลง มีอันดับความน่าเชื่อถือที่ดีขึ้นส่งผลให้ต้นทุนทางการเงินลดลง อีกนัยหนึ่งคือมีมูลค่าบริษัทที่เพิ่มขึ้น

งานวิจัยเชิงคุณภาพนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาถึง กระบวนการสื่อสารเพื่อสร้างภาวะล้มแล้วลุกของพนักงานที่เป็นแม่ในองค์กรไทยเมื่อต้องเผชิญกับการเปลี่ยนแปลงแบบฉับพลัน โดยอาศัยมุมมองการสื่อสารเชิงระบบนิเวศในองค์กร ใช้การสัมภาษณ์เชิงลึก (in-depth interview) กับพนักงานหญิงในองค์กรไทยขนาดใหญ่ ประเภทแสวงผลกำไร ระดับปฏิบัติการและบริหาร ซึ่งสมัครใจให้ข้อมูลด้วยตนเอง (Self-report) ว่า ในช่วง 3 ปีที่ผ่านมา ตนได้เผชิญกับความเปลี่ยนแปลงแบบฉับพลันในขณะที่ต้องเลี้ยงดูลูกอายุไม่เกิน 13 ปีไปด้วยอย่างน้อย 1 เหตุการณ์ และในปัจจุบันสามารถก้าวข้ามอุปสรรคและอารมณ์เชิงลบที่เกิดขึ้นได้แล้ว โดยมีชีวิตส่วนตัวและการทำงานที่ดำเนินต่อไปได้ หรือเข้าสู่สภาวะปกติ) จำนวน 20 คน สุ่มตัวอย่างโดยสุ่มตัวอย่างแบบเจาะจง (Purposive Sampling) และสมัครใจ (Volunteer Sampling) ผลการศึกษาพบว่า การเปลี่ยนแปลงฉับพลันระดับมหภาค (Macrodisruptions) ที่ส่งผลกระทบต่อกลุ่มตัวอย่างพนักงานที่เป็นแม่ในภาพรวม ได้แก่ การแพร่ระบาดของเชื้อไวรัส COVID-19 นอกจากนี้ กลุ่มตัวอย่างบางส่วนยังได้รับผลกระทบจากการย้ายแผนกไปทำสายงานที่ไม่มีความรู้มาก่อน การเกิดวิกฤตแบบฉับพลันในองค์กรอื่นๆ ที่ไม่เกี่ยวข้องกับการแพร่ระบาดของโรค การย้ายที่อยู่อาศัย การตั้งครรภ์แบบไม่ได้วางแผนและคนในครอบครัวเกิดความเจ็บป่วย นำไปสู่การเปลี่ยนแปลงฉับพลันระดับจุลภาค (Microdisruptions) ซึ่งกลุ่มตัวอย่างรับรู้ถึงอุปสรรคจากการเปลี่ยนแปลง 6 มิติ ได้แก่ 1) เวลา 2) ทักษะการทำงาน 3) บทบาทหน้าที่ 4) วิถีการดำเนินชีวิต 5) การเงิน และ 6) สถานที่ และส่งผลกระทบทางลบต่อตนเองทั้งด้านสุขภาพจิตใจและร่างกาย ในการสื่อสารเพื่อสร้างภาวะล้มแล้วลุก กลุ่มตัวอย่างพนักงานที่เป็นแม่มีการสื่อสารเพื่อสร้างภาวะล้มแล้วลุกในทุกระดับในระบบนิเวศการสื่อสารองค์กร ดังนี้: ในระบบจุลภาค (ได้แก่ การสื่อสารภายในตนเองและระหว่างบุคคล) กลุ่มตัวอย่างสื่อสารภายในตนเอง 3 ระยะ คือ ในระยะที่ 1 มุมมองแรกต่อการเปลี่ยนแปลงมีทั้งบวกและลบ ระยะที่ 2 การสื่อสารภายในบุคคลเพื่อก้าวข้ามความรู้สึกเชิงลบ แบ่งออกเป็น 4 ลักษณะ ได้แก่ บอกตัวเองให้ 1) คิดหาวิธีแก้ 2) อดทน 3) มองเป็นความท้าทาย 4) มองการเปลี่ยนแปลงเป็นเรื่องธรรมดา และระยะที่ 3 การสื่อสารความตั้งใจที่จะกระทำหรือการกระทำเพื่อสร้างภาวะล้มแล้วลุก แบ่งออกเป็น 5 กระบวนการ …

การศึกษาประสิทธิภาพในการปฏิบัติงานของกองแบบแผน กรมสนับสนุนบริการสุขภาพกรณีศึกษา : กระบวนการออกแบบก่อสร้างอาคารสถานบริการสุขภาพ, ตวงพร ปัญญาธรรม

การศึกษาในครั้งนี้ มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อ 1) ศึกษาประสิทธิภาพในการปฏิบัติงานของกองแบบแผน กรมสนับสนุนบริการสุขภาพ ในการออกแบบก่อสร้างอาคารสถานบริการสุขภาพ และ 2) ศึกษาแนวทางในการเพิ่มประสิทธิภาพการปฏิบัติงานในกระบวนการดังกล่าว ในการศึกษาครั้งนี้ เป็นการวิจัยเชิงคุณภาพ ใช้การเก็บรวบรวมข้อมูลโดยการสัมภาษณ์ผู้ให้ข้อมูลสำคัญ เครื่องมือที่ใช้ในการวิจัย ได้แก่ แบบสัมภาษณ์แบบกึ่งโครงสร้าง และใช้เทคนิคการสัมภาษณ์เชิงลึก ประกอบกับการศึกษาค้นคว้าเอกสาร แนวคิดทฤษฎี และงานวิจัยที่เกี่ยวข้อง ผลการศึกษาพบว่า 1) ด้านปริมาณงาน ตัวเลขปริมาณงานที่ผู้รับบริการร้องขอความอนุเคราะห์ออกแบบในแต่ละปีงบประมาณมีจำนวนมาก ทำให้หน่วยงานไม่สามารถตอบสนองต่อผู้รับบริการได้ทั้งหมด เนื่องจากมีบุคลากรไม่เพียงพอ และไม่สอดคล้องกับปริมาณงานที่ได้รับมอบหมาย 2) ด้านคุณภาพ ในภาพรวมความพึงพอใจของผู้รับบริการ ที่มีต่อกระบวนการออกแบบก่อสร้างอาคารสถานบริการสุขภาพ ของกองแบบแผน ในช่วง 3 ปีงบประมาณ อยู่ในระดับมาก โดยผู้รับบริการมีความพึงพอใจในด้านเจ้าหน้าที่ผู้ให้บริการ ในประเด็นของการมีความรู้ความสามารถในการให้บริการมากที่สุด 3) ด้านเวลา ภาพรวมการออกแบบแล้วเสร็จทันตามกำหนดเวลาคิดเป็นร้อยละ 81.48 ซึ่งเป็นการเปรียบเทียบระหว่างจำนวนแบบเป้าหมายของหน่วยงานที่กำหนด กับจำนวนแบบที่ดำเนินการแล้วเสร็จทันตามกำหนดเวลา 4) ด้านค่าใช้จ่าย พบว่าต้นทุนค่าใช้จ่ายในการออกแบบก่อสร้างโดยกองแบบแผนเมื่อเทียบกับการจ้างเอกชนออกแบบ จะมีส่วนต่างค่าใช้จ่ายที่ถูกกว่าในภาพรวมคิดเป็นร้อยละ 48.95 แนวทางการเพิ่มประสิทธิภาพการปฏิบัติงาน หน่วยงานควรมีการทบทวนการจัดโครงสร้างของหน่วยงาน และวางอัตรากำลังบุคลากรให้เหมาะสมกับปริมาณงาน รวมถึงการพิจารณากำหนดค่าเป้าหมายของแบบที่จะดำเนินการในแต่ละปีของหน่วยงานให้มีความสอดคล้องกับจำนวนปริมาณงาน เพื่อตอบสนองกับความต้องการของผู้รับบริการได้มากยิ่งขึ้น ตลอดจนการนำระบบเทคโนโลยีที่ทันสมัยมาใช้ในการออกแบบและจัดทำแบบก่อสร้างเพื่อลดขั้นตอน และประหยัดเวลาและค่าใช้จ่ายได้มากยิ่งขึ้น
