As social media use becomes more prevalent for teenagers and late adolescents alike, researchers continue to analyze its associations with mental health and social connectedness. Most studies in this area take a correlational, self-report approach. However, correlational, self-report research neglects to assess cause-and-effect relationships, thus rendering it difficult to ascertain whether social media use causes changes in users’ well-being or if social media users already differ on certain variables prior to their use. Objective – This article reports the survey findings from a mixed-methods assessment of the six-year Institute for Research Design in Librarianship (IRDL). The Institute for Museum and Library Services (IMLS) provided funding for IRDL from 2014-2019; during this time, 124 academic and research librarians participated in a year-long continuing education program for novice researchers. This article assesses the effectiveness of IRDL in meeting short-term and long-term goals related to research productivity, job performance, and identity as a researcher. Purdue Polytechnic High School (PPHS) was established to achieve broader academic and workforce goals. PPHS fosters a sense of community for students by fostering diversity in teachers, focusing on project-based learning, and providing students with a constructive and collaborative space to explore their passions. Involving stakeholders in program decision-making can support existing programs and reduce tensions against the state. However, to be involved, stake­holders may request specific mechanisms to influ­ence program design or outcomes. This paper ana­lyzes the design of four consultation mechanisms and the resultant stakeholder experiences in a pro­vincial Canadian program called Farm Income Stabilization Insurance (FISI). The program offers a protection against low prices. The findings of this paper are based on 18 semi-structured interviews conducted with current and former participants familiar with the mechanisms. We designed and offered a Professional Development (PD) course for K-12 in-service teachers and educators across Indiana to address critical theory on race, immigration, English Language Learners (ELLs), and gender. In this study, we investigate teachers’ perceptions on gender stereotypes in STEM from the PD course. We report findings from the analysis of participants’ responses from pre-course surveys and posed discussions during the course.

In 2017, the William H. Hannon Library at Loyola Marymount University (LMU) used a locally hosted license of CONTENTdm for managing its digital collections. Then LMU was informed that CONTENTdm would no longer be supporting locally hosted instances of CONTENTdm. The Systems & Digital Initiatives (S&DI) department took this change as an opportunity to assess a range of digital asset management systems. After an initial assessment period and review of several product options S&DI decided to self-migrate the library’s content to Adam Matthew’s new platform, Quartex. Information literacy is essential for business students as they prepare for the workplace they will enter after leaving the university. Prior to graduation, students must also prepare for the information needs they will experience during internships and co-ops. To optimize instruction and teach students the information literacy skills they will need on-the-job, librarians need to understand what information sources employers require students to use during internship/co-op experiences and in what ways. In this study we surveyed business students and alumni at a large Midwestern university who had completed an internship or co-op regarding their information use during these workplace experiences.

As libraries and communities consider institutional values and ethical standards, there is a need to scrutinize how those values and standards connect with collections decisions. An existing body of literature about the contents of the collections exists, with respect to issues like decolonization and open access, but little about the business relationships libraries maintain in order to acquire these collections. In this paper, librarians from Purdue University take a critical approach to identifying the values of their institution at multiple levels, including a newly released Libraries strategic plan, to create a values-based evaluation tool for future collection assessment.

More specifically, the study focused on what kind of relationships college-aged users were hoping to form on Tinder (i.e. committed, casual, or neither) and what factors determined whether these users swiped right versus left on other Tinder users. The purpose of this study is to gather data on the perceptions of undergraduate students regarding mental health apps. Participants will be asked to complete a survey through Qualtrics. There will be 20 questions, some with pre-determined answers and some open-ended. The survey, including a few demographic questions, should take approximately 20 minutes. This dissertation examines the two policies involving undocumented immigrants – granting them driver’s permits, and the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrival legalization. The introductory chapter surveys the history of the U.S. immigration system and reviews several approaches of identifying the undocumented population in data. Chapter 2 focuses on the Michigan driver’s license ban enacted in 2008 that restricted driving permits only to citizens and legally present foreigners. Using several time specifications and estimation methods, the data show that the ban did not increase traffic safety. Instead, the number of accidents after the ban increased by about 5%. LGBTQ couples have more opportunities to become parents than ever before. This is partly due to advancements in the LGBTQ movement as well as changes in cultural ideologies, changes in families, and more recent medical advancements (Ryan and Berkowitz 2009). Such changes allow LGBTQ couples to become parents, but to do so in differing ways (Dunne 2000). Although linked historically by Rowan et al., the scientific study of animal sentience and political campaigns to improve animal welfare should be kept separate, for at least two reasons. First, the separation makes it clear that standards of evidence acceptable for ethical or political decisions on animal welfare can be lower than those required for a rigorously scientific approach to animal sentience. Second, it helps to avoid confirmatory bias in the form of giving undue weight to results that are in line with pre-conceived ideas and political views.

The result was the series of legislations for animals which were initially proposed by the SPCAs and later by NGOs. Perfect foresight is a consequence of applying the Pontryagin Maximum Principle to the analysis of an intertemporal general equilibrium. For this reason, the capital theory controversy ended in an intellectual impasse. The critique of mainstream theory largely ignored the perfect foresight entailments of intertemporal equilibrium analysis, while its defenders, with notable exceptions, too often failed to acknowledge this implication of the technique of dynamic programming. From this standpoint, the long debate over the existence or non-existence of an aggregate production function is secondary.
