DePaul continues to expand its innovative programming and resources for Latinx communities. La DePaulia, an online Spanish-language publication produced by journalism students, is filling a need for news in Chicago's Spanish-speaking community. The Center for Latino Research continues to provide films, lectures, webinars and other programming on Latinx subjects, and is elevating its scholarly publication, Diálogo with expanded content and regional relevance. The DePaul Art Museum has initiated a years-long Latinx Initiative to expand its collections, exhibitions and public programs devoted to Latin American artists, beginning with the "LatinXAmerican" exhibition.

Joseph Biden won the 2020 presidential election because Democratic support increased across the entire rural–urban continuum. The incremental gains at each point along the continuum were modest, but in a tightly contested election small changes in the vote matter.

In this brief, Carsey School senior demographer Ken Johnson and Carsey fellow Dante Scala conclude that voting trends in rural and urban America reflect a continuum rather than a dichotomy. Improving bus stops by providing shelters, seating, signage, and sidewalks is relatively inexpensive and popular among riders and local officials. Making such improvements, however, is not often a priority for U.S. transit providers because of competing demands for capital funds and a perception that amenities are not tied to measurable increases in system effectiveness or efficiency. Editing the Eartha M.M. White Collection is a digital public history project at the University of North Florida (UNF). Started as a summer digital editing course in 2016, the project has since developed into an ongoing experiment in digital humanities outreach and community building through periodic textual editing workshops involving archival materials. Project participants transcribe and prepare for online publication (using TEI–XML) the personal correspondence and other documents of Eartha M.M. White (1876–1974), a leader of the African American community in Jacksonville, Florida. This paper covers 18873 publications on Greenhouse effect in global level from the period of 2004-2018. The Scopus international multidisciplinary bibliographical database has been used to identify the Global contributions in the field of Greenhouse effect. The most number of papers were published in the journals as Article, i.e. 11982 (63.49%). Globally, USA is the highest publications country with the contribution of 4172 papers. India is in the ninth position of global level research output with 484 (2.55%) published articles.

This article describes the changes within the Western Michigan University Libraries Technical Services Department during a five-year period from 2012 to 2017, which involved a reorganization of staff and the migration to Alma/Primo, Ex Libris’ next-generation library management system and discovery solution. The aim of this case study is to understand the role these two significant events played in the transformation of the department.

The U.S. Senate’s Special Committee to Investigate Organized Crime in Interstate Commerce, chaired by Tennessee Democrat Estes Kefauver, focused attention as never before on gambling-related crime as a national problem. Popularly known as the Kefauver Committee after its telegenic chairman, the committee captivated the nation in 1950-1951 with its televised hearings. It retains its relevance today, particularly in Las Vegas, where The Mob Museum occupies the building in which the committee met during its sole trip to Las Vegas.

This chapter examines how an interdisciplinary high-impact practice approach to teaching and learning using selected contested monuments can reveal intersections of racism, colonialism, and sexism, and lay the foundation for students’ civic engagement. In place-based and virtual experiences, students observe and investigate local and national monuments, integrating knowledge from multiple disciplines, including history, psychology, art, culture, and tourism. This study demonstrates the interrelationships of people, food, energy, and water associated with Temecula Valley’s wine industry and reveals contradictions and biases in how people view these resources, which ultimately shape management and policies. The FEW (Food, Energy, and Water) Nexus is an approach increasingly used by policy- and decision-makers to understand the interrelationship of several resources. Speed Traps: Algorithmic Trader Performance Under Alternative Market Structures, Yan Peng, Jason Shachat, Lijia Wei, S. Sarah Zhang

Using laboratory experiments, we illustrate that trading algorithms that prioritize low latency pose certain pitfalls in a variety of market structures and configurations. In hybrid double auctions markets with human traders and trading agents, we find superior performance of trading agents to human traders in balanced markets with the same number of human and Zero Intelligence Plus (ZIP) buyers and sellers only, thus providing a partial replication of Das et al. (2001). However, in unbalanced markets and extreme market structures, such as monopolies and duopolies, fast ZIP agents fall into a speed trap and both human participants and slow ZIP …

The paper discussed the nature and types of knowledge, knowledge acquisition, theories and models of knowledge acquisition, in addition to the review of empirical studies measuring knowledge acquisition. For knowledge creation, the paper discussed the definition of knowledge creation, theories and models of knowledge creation, and review of empirical studies measuring knowledge creation. Rural youth and young adults have historically had higher use rates of alcohol and other substances than their urban counterparts. Recent research suggests that rates of youth and young adult alcohol and other substance use have declined over the past two decades, but we have limited knowledge of whether and how current rural and urban substance use patterns may differ. This study was designed to examine the possible connection between a child’s gender nonconformity and attitudes toward both the child and the mother of the gender nonconforming child. Specifically, this study explored the impact of gender nonconforming behavior on undergraduate student perceptions of the child and the parenting competence of the mother. Following social psychology theories examining stigma and stigma by association, this study represents an attempt to determine whether gender nonconforming behavior is a stigmatizing factor, and if that stigma is carried over to the mother. Several states, including Texas, have implemented an “excess semester credit hours (ESCH)” policy. State ESCH policies assess a fee to students at public institutions when they exceed a set number of lifetime cumulative credit hours (e.g., students with more than the 120 credit hours needed for a bachelor’s degree). Little is known about the administrative burden the implementation of and communication about state ESCH policies places on students.
