Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) is a condition that is increasing in incidence in Indonesia, consuming a lot of National Health Insurance (JKN) public funds. In the JKN program, hemodialysis (HD) for treating CKD is guaranteed but requires a balance between costs and outcomes. Since 2014, BPJS has covered almost all HD costs in Indonesia with different Casemix Base Group (CBG) rates according to hospital class.

Terapi Sistemik Defisit Jkn: Bahan Refleksi Bagi Semua Pihak, Budi Hidayat Jun 2016

Terapi Sistemik Defisit Jkn: Bahan Refleksi Bagi Semua Pihak, Budi Hidayat

Jurnal Ekonomi Kesehatan Indonesia

The deficit deserves to be considered a chronic JKN disease. Indications of the deficit are revealed from the claims ratio figures. In 2014 and 2015, the claims ratio was consistently above 100%. This figure results from dividing claim costs (or participant health costs) by contribution income. Thus, the claims ratio describes the absorption of contribution funds for health costs only. However, contribution income must also be allocated for operational expenses and reserves. The JKN deficit will continue to grow if systemic therapy is nil. For 2016, the author's estimation results by referring to the assumed contribution amounts by Presidential Regulation …

Exploring Undergraduate Students' Information Seeking Motivation: A Self-Determination Perspective, Ana Dubnjakovic Jun 2016

Exploring Undergraduate Students' Information Seeking Motivation: A Self-Determination Perspective, Ana Dubnjakovic

Theses and Dissertations

Human motivation is a widely debated construct in psychology and many disciplines in social science as well as education and health sciences have adopted various psychological theories in an effort to understand motivational forces behind many human activities from dieting (e.g., Schelling, Munsch and Margraf, 2011), psychotherapy (e.g., Martens, 2010) and academic achievement (e.g., Artino, Holmboe and Durning, 2012) to political participation (e.g., Hersh, 2012). Case (2012) devotes an entire chapter in his seminal text on information behavior to an overview of what he calls a “motivational puzzle” tying it to information need as the predominantly discussed dimension of motivation …

Using Expert Modeling And Video Feedback To Improve Starting Block Execution With Track And Field Sprinters, April Dyal

USF Tampa Graduate Theses and Dissertations

Correct formation during starting block execution is important for injury prevention and obtaining maximum velocity during the sprint. Researchers in applied behavior analysis have evaluated several procedures to improve performance in sports such as gymnastics, football, and, golf. A promising method to improve sports performance is expert modeling plus video feedback. However, there is little research on this method and it has yet to be evaluated with sprinters in track and field. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of expert modeling and video feedback to improve form during block starts with track and field sprinters. …

Enslaved Labor In The Gang And Task Systems: A Case Study In Comparative Bioarchaeology Of Commingled Remains, William D. Stevens Jun 2016

Enslaved Labor In The Gang And Task Systems: A Case Study In Comparative Bioarchaeology Of Commingled Remains, William D. Stevens

Theses and Dissertations

This study designs and tests an approach intended to confront one of the major problems faced within biological anthropology, the commingling or mixing of human skeletal remains. The first goal of the study is to implement an approach to sorting mixed human remains in order that they can be made amenable to comparative study. Bioarchaeologists depend on an array of measures, preserved in the human skeleton, to assess the lifestyles and identity of past human groups. As many of these measures are preserved within the morphology of different bones, it is imperative that the association and context of remains are …

Being Strategic: Black Legislative Representation In The Republican-Controlled South Carolina House Of Representatives, Willie James Black

Theses and Dissertations

Under what circumstances, can descriptive representatives produce a representation, which may not be merely descriptive, but still substantive in nature? In other words, do descriptive representatives provide representation that produces salient black constituency policies, yet not be strictly black interest substantive policies? Do these black Democrats still “substantively represent” their black constituents and if so, to what extent? More importantly, what legislative actions do they undertake to represent their black constituents? Moreover, can these black Democratic legislators form strategic alliances successfully to prevent passage of policies detrimental to the interest of their black constituency? Can they form alliances to enhance …

Journal of Indonesian Tourism and Policy Studies

This paper reveals a strategic management case of rural tourism development based on tourism plan in Wanayasa, Purwakarta, Jawa Barat. Research was conducted in August 2015 with qualitative approaches i.e. interview and focus group discussion. In addition, some of data also produced from secondary sources such as government regulation and official website. Findings show that the only strength Wanayasa possessed is their ability in capturing projections of external factors, including identification of potential investors for their tourism. Apart from that quality, it is obvious that their rural tourism development is lack of clear vision & mission, indefinite internal analysis, and …

Prospect Evaluation As An Emerging Pre-Evaluation Technique In The Case Of Great Plains Wheat Producers’ Use Of Web 2.0 Technology, Nicholas R. Brown, Kathleen D. Kelsey

Journal of Human Sciences and Extension

We introduce a pre-evaluation technique, prospect evaluation, in the case of Great Plains wheat producers’ practices with Web 2.0. We emerged prospect evaluation as a pre-evaluation technique, expanding the role of evaluative logic and reasoning into the ideation phase of project and product development to close the risk gap between project idea and implementation. Prospect evaluation serves as a prequel to the well-established developmental, formative, and summative evaluation models. We implemented the prospect evaluation technique in the context of iWheat, a USDA-funded Web 2.0 project (currently known as myFields, http://myfields.info/dashboard). Wheat producers were comfortable using computers; however, they conceptualized the …

Theses and Dissertations

The purpose of this study was to explore the impact of doctoral study on the relationship satisfaction and commitment level of both doctoral students and partners of doctoral students. The researcher examined length of relationship, gender, financial status, and relationship status to determine if each variable is a predictor of relationship satisfaction and commitment level for both doctoral students and partners of doctoral students.

The majority of literature regarding the impact of doctoral study on relationship satisfaction has focused exclusively on the perspective of married doctoral students. From a systems perspective, it is impossible to understand a system by solely …

Essays On The Economics Of International Remittances And Migration, Marian Manic Jun 2016

Essays On The Economics Of International Remittances And Migration, Marian Manic

Theses and Dissertations

Existing literature on international remittances recognizes the increasing importance of these transfers on economic development as well as their effect on the reduction of poverty in developing countries. However, the studies on this topic are still divided over the long-term effects of remittances, identifying instances when remittances have either positive or negative results. Probably the most important oversight of the literature on international remittances and migration is the lack of the regional dimension in the analysis, which is the focus of this dissertation.

In the first chapter I propose a novel spatial dataset of remittances and spending from a nationally …

Selective Behavioral Alterations In The Hiv-1 Transgenic Rat: Implications For Diagnosis Of Pediatric Hiv-1, Kristen A. Mclaurin Jun 2016

Selective Behavioral Alterations In The Hiv-1 Transgenic Rat: Implications For Diagnosis Of Pediatric Hiv-1, Kristen A. Mclaurin

Theses and Dissertations

Since the advent of combination antiretroviral therapy (cART), pediatric HIV-1 (PHIV) has evolved from a fatal disease to a chronic disease with children perinatally infected with HIV-1 surviving into adulthood. The HIV-1 transgenic (Tg) rat, which expresses 7 of the 9 HIV-1 genes constitutively throughout development, was used to investigate the early development of chronic neurological impairment in PHIV. Male and female Fischer HIV-1 Tg and F344N control rats, sampled from 35 litters, were repeatedly assessed during early development using multiple experimental paradigms, including somatic growth, locomotor activity, cross-modal prepulse inhibition (PPI) and gap-prepulse inhibition (gap-PPI). A rightward shift towards …

This study investigates the home and classroom environments of a subsample of students (n=16) selected from a participant group of 259 low income students within 4 urban schools in the southeast. The subsample consisted of students who, according to a direct performance assessment, had higher behavioral self-regulation skills than their peers yet were reported by teachers as exhibiting undesirable classroom behavior. Examined as potential contributors to the poor classroom behavior of the students were home environment characteristics related to stress and child-parent relationships and classroom environment characteristics which included classroom quality and presence of chaos. Results indicated that children within …

Conduct Problems And Student Engagement In The Classroom: Parenting Practices, Lauryn A. Young Jun 2016

Conduct Problems And Student Engagement In The Classroom: Parenting Practices, Lauryn A. Young

Theses and Dissertations

Children and adolescents with conduct problems have gained much attention due to frequency of referrals to mental health clinics, concerns with behavior within the home, and school problems. To date, evidence based positive parenting interventions have made the largest impact in producing positive student engagement outcomes within the overt engagement domains (i.e., academically and behaviorally). However, few studies have evaluated the psychological (i.e., teacher-student relationships, peer support for learning, family support for learning) and cognitive (i.e., control and relevance of school work, future aspirations and goals) covert domains of engagement. The current study aims to address this gap and measure …

Nothing Is The Matter With Kansas: White Southern Exceptionalism In American Politics, Paul White Jr. Jun 2016

Nothing Is The Matter With Kansas: White Southern Exceptionalism In American Politics, Paul White Jr.

Theses and Dissertations

There are two research questions at the heart of this dissertation: Does the American South have a distinct political environment in comparison to other regions? If so, how does this distinction influence American politics? I argue that the American South has long been politically distinct from other regions in the United States. This southern ethos, this southern way of agrarian politics, is predicated on three factors- State Centered Federalism, Racial Conservatism, and Religious Conservatism. I consider these factors in a model I call “The Determinants of Southern Exceptionalism” or the D.S.E. Model. It views the American South as remaining distinctive …

The Influence Of Motivational Salience On Attention Selection: An Erp Investigation, Constanza De Dios Jun 2016

The Influence Of Motivational Salience On Attention Selection: An Erp Investigation, Constanza De Dios

USF Tampa Graduate Theses and Dissertations

The current study used event-related potentials (ERPs) to investigate how motivational salience in the form of expectation violation influences spatial attention. The medial frontal negativity (MFN) ERP indexes expected value, being negative to unexpected punishments and positive to unexpected rewards. The P1 and N1 ERPs index spatial attention, being larger to stimuli in attended locations. This design attached motivational value to locations by making one visual hemifield economically rewarding (greater probability of a rewarding outcome) and the other punishing (greater probability of a punishing outcome). Keypresses to a dot probe following a reward-signifying stimulus were awarded money if correct, and …

Bi-Directional Work-Family Affective Spillover: A Daily Diary Study, Michele Wilk Gazica Jun 2016

Bi-Directional Work-Family Affective Spillover: A Daily Diary Study, Michele Wilk Gazica

USF Tampa Graduate Theses and Dissertations

To date, most scholarship on work-family spillover effects has ignored the additive or interactive daily effects of experiences in both the work and family domains on important employee health outcomes. Thus, the overall purpose of this study was to investigate how both positive and negative domain-specific (i.e., work or family) affective events influence an employee’s state affect, exposure to affective events in the alternative domain, and health and wellbeing, namely physical wellbeing and sleep quality.

This study drew upon the affective events and mood-congruent cognition theories to help explain how one domain influences the other. Affective events are things that …

Self-Determination During School-To-Adulthood Transition In Young Adults With Autism Spectrum Disorder From The United States And Hong Kong, Gary Yu Hin Lam

USF Tampa Graduate Theses and Dissertations

There is an increasing population of students with ASD graduating from schools and entering adulthood. Post-school transition is particularly challenging for these young adults and they tend to exhibit unfavorable outcomes in various domains in life. The concept of self-determination has been identified to promote successful transition and adult outcomes. With its root stemming from Western ideologies, the conceptualizations and manifestations of self-determination have rarely been examined across cultures. The present study aims to examine the experiences of self-determination in young adults with ASD during their school-to-adulthood transition and directly compare their experiences across American and Chinese contexts. Individual interviews …

Static And Dynamic Spectral Acuity In Cochlear Implant Listeners For Simple And Speech-Like Stimuli, Benjamin Anderson Russell Jun 2016

Static And Dynamic Spectral Acuity In Cochlear Implant Listeners For Simple And Speech-Like Stimuli, Benjamin Anderson Russell

USF Tampa Graduate Theses and Dissertations

For cochlear implant (CI) listeners, poorer than normal speech recognition abilities are typically attributed to degraded spectral acuity. However, estimates of spectral acuity have most often been obtained using simple (tonal) stimuli, presented directly to the implanted electrodes, rather than through the speech processor as occurs in everyday listening. Further, little is known about spectral acuity for dynamic stimuli, as compared to static stimuli, even though the perception of dynamic spectral cues is important for speech perception.

The primary goal of the current study was to examine spectral acuity in CI listeners, and a comparison group of normal hearing (NH) …
