The Relationship Of Adolescent Attachment Patterns To College Student Adjustment, Cathleen M. Hutchison
The Relationship Of Adolescent Attachment Patterns To College Student Adjustment, Cathleen M. Hutchison
Theses and Dissertations
The purpose of the present study was to examine if a relationship exists between attachment to parents and peers and college student adjustment during the freshmen year. Forty-seven undergraduate freshmen students between the ages of 18-19 participated in this study. Each participant completed four questionnaires including a demographic information survey, the Student Adaptation to College Questionnaire, the Texas Social Behavior Inventory, and the Inventory of Parent and Peer Attachment. Correlation analyses determined that there was a significant positive relationship between attachment to parents and peers and college student adjustment. Analyses of Variance determined that there were significant differences between gender …
The Effects Of De-Tracking On Students And Teachers, Jacob M. Bultema, Kristen M. Scranton
The Effects Of De-Tracking On Students And Teachers, Jacob M. Bultema, Kristen M. Scranton
Honors Theses
School districts use an array of methods to group students for their academic needs. In years past, many schools have tracked their students. This practice involves placing students in different classes according to their ability levels and past academic record. However, in recent years, some schools have decided to do away with this homogenous grouping and instead "detrack" their schools, grouping students heterogeneously. Proponents of tracking argue that homogenous grouping is advantageous to higher-ability learners. Teachers sometimes find it difficult to teach students with the broad range or achievement levels typically found in a heterogeneous environment. It is also argued …

The Team Leader then adopted the kneeling position wearing his protective jacket and protective visor (down position). Prior to moving the rock he probed underneath it, checking for booby-traps, he then attempted to physically move the rock, whereupon an uncontrolled detonation occurred.

Workforce Diversity Programs: A Case Study Of The Las Vegas Valley Water District’S “3-Year Diversity Implementation Plan”, Wilisha C. Moore
UNLV Theses, Dissertations, Professional Papers, and Capstones
Diversity programs have become a popular topic in today’s workforce. Diversity has become an important factor in the success of an organization. More and more agencies are beginning to realize that the workforce is becoming more diverse, and organizations are starting to embrace this diversity. Organizations are beginning to understand that diversity adds to the production and to the success of the organization, and is not a negative setback. Many agencies are realizing that diversity includes all employees, and is no longer just a racial issue. Diversity is the makeup of the world, and there are many dimensions of it. …
Preliminary Report Of Animal Bones From Hrísheimur, Mývatn District, Northern Iceland, Sophia Perdikaris, Thomas H. Mcgovern
Preliminary Report Of Animal Bones From Hrísheimur, Mývatn District, Northern Iceland, Sophia Perdikaris, Thomas H. Mcgovern
School of Global Integrative Studies: Faculty Publications
In 2000 and 2001 the FSl / NABO project Landscapes of Settlement in Northern Iceland collected animal bones from the heavily eroded site of Hrísheimur south of lake Mývatn. The 2001 season produced a substantial archaeofauna from a 2 x 2 meter test excavation of a midden deposit that apparently fills a small sunken-feature structure. While further excavations are planned to collect more material and to better understand the deposit and site as a whole, it may be useful to provide an interim overview of the bone materials recovered from the largest context (003) of the midden deposit tested in …
Using Complexity Theory To Select Between Leaders And Managers, Michael W. Jordan
Using Complexity Theory To Select Between Leaders And Managers, Michael W. Jordan
Theses and Graduate Projects
Several authors have attempted recently to extend Complex Adaptive Systems (CAS) theory to organizations and business management (Wheatley, 1992; Lind, 1994; Beccone, 1998; Zimmerman, Lindberg & Plsek, 1998, Eoyang & Olson, 2001). The theory might be useful for practitioners, but it cannot provide detailed scientific predictions. The following questions are posed for analysis: Could CAS theory be applied to hiring and promoting leaders and managers? Would it be possible, and would it make sense, for organizations to identify emergent leaders as management prospects given Beccone's analysis of the distinction between leaders and managers? How might the procedures and results likely …
Discipleship: Empowering Followers For The Modern Church, Gordon Thomas
Discipleship: Empowering Followers For The Modern Church, Gordon Thomas
Theses and Graduate Projects
The modern church finds itself under increasing pressure as the number of individuals entering the ministry continues to fall short of the number accepting vocational calls outside of ministry or retiring. Churches of all denominations are looking for creative ways to re-engage their members into accepting a broader range of responsibility in the church. The term many are using is 'discipleship'.
This study will first examine the stewardship theory developed by Peter Block - the choice of service over self-interest. This theory will then be contrasted with the work done by Pastor Michael Foss in his recent book Power Surge. …

Sexual Abuse Of Players In Junior Hockey, Richard C. Crepeau
On Sport and Society
On Tuesday I was listening to the "Jim Rome Show" while driving into the campus and I heard a painful and astounding interview with Sheldon Kennedy. As some of you will remember Kennedy was the NHL player for the Boston Bruins who revealed in late 1996 that as a young boy and then young man he was subject to repeated sexual abuse by his hockey coach Graham James.
